The week’s news was dominated once again by Lara’s filming of the Mme. Zhivago movie, now having moved to Kiev. Information is readily available on the web, including photos and some videos, thanks to the yeomen efforts of the Russian fans, Christina on her Greek/English Music Treasure Box blog, and Tarcisio on larafabiannews.com. New this week was a video that contained some more comments from the participants; it’s available at:

[As an aside: these videos are readily accessible on larafabiannews.com. But for myself and several other people, faster access is provided by clicking on the “youtube” moniker in the lower right hand corner of them on that site, which will take you to “youtube” itself where they seem to play better - probably due to having one less required link.]
Here is an English translation of what was said, via the French translation of Aleksandara on the official site (don’t be surprised if something is lost in the multiple translations ☺ ).

Lara Fabian has spent three days in Lvov with Maks Barskih. A young boy fell in love with the mature woman and all ended with the tragedy.
LF: ... before my arrival in the Ukraine I had no indication of who Maks Barskih was, but we worked well.
The director Alan Badoev began filming the musical “Madame Zhivago”, which will include the screen adaptation of songs from the new album by Lara Fabian. The singer will portray the image of the modern women in different situations.
Alan: For this project, and the episodes we have already gotten out of the way two new ones from the film. For all this we are working with an immense amount of people, on the project today a little more than 300 persons.
Apart from the muse of Alan Badoev and Maks Barskih there will be pregnant men, a woman Shah and even artificial snow.
The budget of the film is now nearly $2.5 million. Apart from the Ukraine, the film takes will occur in New Zealand. Probably the composer and producer, Igor Krutoi will also become one of the film’s heros.
Igor: The role of the German killed.

There is no denying that Lara looks fabulous in the photos. As an example, a video put together of some of them to the music of ‘Speranza” is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-G5Cpxk1qA
(Actually they probably should have used one of the songs from the movie, like ‘Demain n’existe pas’.) The make-up people in cinema and TV are often the best in the world; maybe Lara, who normally looks good anyway, has already gotten some useful tips!
There are still many unanswered questions concerning the project. In addition to the ones noted in last week’s update, one wonders whether the titles of the segments correspond to the titles of the songs on the album. The segment shot most recently is called “Lullaby” – will that be a song title? Also, what language is going to be spoken in the film? Will there be the four different languages, coinciding with the album’s lyrics? Does Maks Barskih speak anything other than Ukrainian? Since Universal France is funding it, will there be primarily French subtitles for any non-French episodes? Perhaps if we get to see the filming of additional segments, some of the answers will become clear.
Concerning Lara’s other upcoming projects: as noted in the official forum and by Christina in the thread of last week’s news update, Laetitia from larafabianweb.com stated that TLFM1 has been pushed back to September. Since this is also the projected date for the release of the live DVD, it set off speculation that they will be included together. Apparently nothing has really been decided; Laetitia indicated humorously that it ‘changes from day to day’. However, well-informed Laetitia is, you may remember that she has not proven to be an infallible source – or perhaps Lara’s impulsive decisions alter things at the last moment. The phrase ‘expect it when you see it’ may apply to this ‘boutique’ project even more than usually with Lara.
If Laetitia does have some influence, it might be useful to take advantage of the opportunity she is offering to provide suggestions for improving Lara’s official fan club. One can submit them to:

While the forum at larafabianweb.com is primarily in French, they do have the ability to translate from English.
It’s been noted that Lara is once again a special invitee to the ‘New Wave’ festival in Latvia, in particular the last day of the contest scheduled for August 1st. Fans fully expect her to debut at least one of the new songs from the album, given the rendition of ‘Demain n’existe pas’ that took place last year. If you remember, she appeared to lip-sync that version – which indicated that the song had already been recorded. The impression exists that now the complete album is already finished, which should give her plenty of additional material to perform that same way.
And speaking of contests: Lara is scheduled to preside over the first International Musical Comedy competition, whose finale will be June 7th in Paris. Since she’s right in the middle of filming, it’s unclear if she will actually be present physically, or just in spirit. She knew the movie schedule before accepting the position; filming in the Ukraine is not supposed to end for another two weeks.
Finally, TLFM itself is still holding on in the Belgian charts, although it dropped to #85. It is now up to 44 weeks (11 behind ‘Nue’).
