Lara finished the last two concerts on her schedule this past week, starting with the her second concert in three nights in Tel Aviv on the 30th. She changed the set list a bit to encompass different past ‘hits’, this time including “Tout", "Bambina" and "Pas Sans Toi". Lara ended the concert by wishing the audience ‘happy holidays’, speaking in Hebrew (her visit coincided with Passover).
While there are a number of videos from the two Israeli concerts on the web, Wendy on the official site forum put on youtube three videos from the 3/28 show, lasting close to 30 minutes. Since they don’t have Lara’s name on them, they don’t show up on a search; they can be found at:

As almost a side note, in reading the comments concerning the concerts by those who attended, one gets the feeling that they were most happy about Lara’s having decided to come to Israel. One gets the impression that the Israelis (or at least this audience) consider themselves ‘second class citizens’ when it comes to visits by famous performers, due, one would imagine, to the political situation. The fact that Lara visited them meant that she respected and valued them as individuals, and it almost seems that no matter how she performed, that fact alone would have made the shows a hit. One can see from the videos that she was in fine form, however. It is also interesting to note her very casual nature - lounging on the couch, for example, or reading lyrics from a notebook. This may be a reaction to the overly programmed TLFM tour.
Then, the last concert in Moldavia on April 1st (the news media joked that it was not an ‘April Fools joke’ – Lara was really there!). Before the concert she gave an interview for the media, with reportedly an ‘unprecedented’ number attending (the video is available on youtube). When asked what she would do if she wasn’t a singer, Lara said – "nothing", singing is the only thing she can do (after two years of ballet, she realized it wasn’t for her). She also repeated that in the songs she composes, the music comes before the words – in the past she has mentioned that once she hears the music, the words automatically come to her. An article in the local press indicated that Lara spent the night of her arrival in her room (rather than coming down for dinner) watching Justine Henin on TV win her match and then called to congratulate her; but that she would get a chance to sample Moldavian wines the day after her concert, with a tour of the wine cellars.
As for the concert itself, half of the seats had been bought up ahead of time, and the other half were snapped up by a long queue of people at the box office, so the house was full. In addition to local fans and public officials, people came from the Ukraine and Moscow, as well. The acoustic show presented the usual songs (along with ‘Je suis malade’, which seems to have joined the precession) in piano-voice, and Lara sang with the usual great vocal prowess. It was very well received, so much so in fact that a fan from Moscow got on stage to propose marriage to Lara. She responded that he was too late! [Note that this is the second time recently that Lara has suggested she is married – one wonders if it’s true in a literal sense…]. Some videos are available from Wendy, following the links on the official site, p. 14 of the concert thread (and who would have predicted a year ago that the official site would become the repository for concert videos! To show how far it has come, the lead thread under the ‘concert chronicles’ still lists Julien’s 2006 message proclaiming that no videos or audios will be allowed). And some nice photos from her recent concerts at Ludres and Yutz have also been recently made available (p. 92 of the ‘Nancy’ thread, and p. 20 of the Yutz thread).
In other news, Maria on the official site posted an advertisement for a concert Lara will be giving with Igor Krutoi at the Kremlin on November 3-4, 2010. Tickets go on sale April 12th. This is the first known presentation of the Mme. Zhivago show. In a related development, Larabest reported that Lara now appears in the listings for Universal Music in Russia though as of yet they don’t have links to any album. The URL is provided below because when the new album becomes available, it may show up there first. It certainly suggests that Mme. Zhivago will be a Universal release (and one wonders if the movie will be too).

Lara was interviewed on radio RCJ on the 23rd. In particular, she mentions that the new album is expected for October. Larafabiannews.com has a complete summary of the interview, which covered familiar ground.
An interview with Lara appeared in the latest issue of “Féminin pratique”. Oddly the interview already was published in “Célébrités” magazine. Lara repeats the possibility of acting in “Victor Victoria’ in 2011. She also mentions (again) that if she had to pick one place to live, it would be in Montreal/Quebec. That makes it doubly disappointing that, according to Christina in last week’s thread, TLFM will not be released in Quebec due to a conflict with her record company there. Lara’s eclectic background (or her idosyncratic business sense) would appear to cause her problems that don’t normally happen to someone of her stature.
There are no upcoming concerts left on Lara’s schedule (!). It has been reported that she will start filming the videos for Mme. Zhivago on May 20.
