Although her concert tour has yet to resume, Lara was still before the public this past week in two TV shows. On "C A Vous" (France 5) she participated in a general interview about her career and the new albums, and sang a portion of 'Amoureuse' and also of 'Angel'. Clearly, given the disparity in the reviews, Lara is now pushing EWIM at the same time as TLFM . Videos are available on NABBOX and Youtube. Actually Lara was also on C A Vous the next day (probably taped the previous day when she was in their studio); in a short appearance before that day's program, she gave about 30 seconds of singing instructions. A link to this video can be found in the official site forum in the thread for the program.
Lara was also on "Declick", again a long interview program. Ostensibly another promotional opportunity for her albums, the topics covered were wide ranging with some probing questions, including some sent in over the internet. Concerning her future plans, Lara indicated she would not be having a second child this year, and that she was still interested in "Victor Victoria". The first point we knew already, since the release of her new album next fall would seem to preclude it; but as Lara hs just turned 40, she is cutting it kind of close. And if she does plan to have a child in 2011, there is little likelihood that she would perform in 'Victor Victoria' that year either.
Additional questions arose concerning sore points in Lara's career: the ridicule she has received in the French market, and the lack of success of her American career. Lara felt she had suffered from her naivete in answering questions straightforwardly, and has had to learn to protect herself. And if one judges the American career by the sales of her one general release English album, the several million copies sold worldwide are hardly indicative of failure. As far as the U.S. market itself is concerned, the truth is that she was not there long enough to succeed (one might as well talk about the 'failure' of her Brazilian career; she had as many media appearances there - or more - than she had in the States). You can't become well known in a country if you don't try. And while Lara may speak/sing in four languages fluently (and as she noted in this program, 10 phonetically), as far as I know she has never given a full concert in English in an English speaking country, in Italian in an Italian speaking country, or in Spanish in a Spanish speaking country. Despite her surface bravado, there are a number of international performers more daring than Lara. Perhaps this will change with the release of the new 'international' album. The video of the entire show is available on NABBOX, and somewhat lower quality versions elsewhere.
Lara left a Happy New Year message on her site this past week. She mentioned in general her activities associated with the upcoming album - writing, singing, already promoting. Clearly this year will have that as a major focus, so now in her public interviews she has three albums to promote.
An article appeared in 'Gala' about the great friendship between Lara and Justine Henin. There's an excellent picture of the two of them together: it can be found at:

TLFM has gained 18 places, and is now 115th on the charts in France. The result of Lara's TV shows, no doubt.
The recording of the show 'Fete de la chanson Francais' will take place on the 20th; according to an article in the TV Mag, it will celebrate 100 years of musical culture. The recording of "Panique dans l'oreillette" occurred on Monday, and it will be broadcast on Wednesday. Those at the taping said it was very moving, and the studio was small, so they were quite close to Lara. People were hesitant to say more and ruin the surprises, but everyone is looking forward to the show's airing. Another program of great interest, "L'ecole des fans" is scheduled for broadcast on the 23rd, according to the official site.
Lara's concert tour begins anew on Friday, with 10 shows through the end of January. Hopefully there will be videos… ☺. Lara said in her message she has spent time thinking about the shows, but given the constraints of the holograms, it's hard to see how anything will change, at least in the full extravaganza version.
