During a break in her concert schedule, Lara's modeling of 'chocolate outfits' for the sake of charity took place this past week as planned. Pictures and videos on the web show her in dresses with jewelry containing different amounts of chocolate; see for instance the wonderful pictures provided by 'Liberally yours' in last week's news update, as well as those on:
www.larafabiannews.blogger.com.br/index.html
Clearly, this must have been one of the most pleasant of public appearances for Lara, a known chocoholic.
That site also notes another of Lara's charity events, on the program '5 jours pour changer la vie d'une famille', originally recorded in September. As discussed in a previous update, Lara provided the 'gold disc' for TLFM to the family of one of her fans who had suffered a personal catastrophe due to a tornado in August 2008. In addition to recording a message for this family, the video available on NABBOX indicates Lara then actually showed up, producing a very emotional scene. Over the years there have been a number of similar televised instances where Lara makes a surprise appearance for a fan in distress. She must find it very gratifying that her presence is treated as such a special event in people's lives, due to the quality of her personality and her music (as well as celebrity status in general).
And an additional past event which got some attention during the week was the Private Concert that Lara gave at France Blue radio last month. Videos of it had already been made available, but the mp3s of the complete show were just uploaded onto NABBOX. You may remember that Lara sang seven songs, including some extracts from her 'Dessin Animee' children's medley. To me the highlight was her performance of 'J'ai besoin de parler' (which was not available as a complete video). Lara now seems to include that homage to Ginette Reno in all the TLFM-related appearances, even though it wasn't actually on the album. One surmises that she now regrets its absence; in the article in Platine, the interviewer suggested it would have been more appropriate than some of the other songs, and Lara didn't disagree. Elsewhere, Lara has said that Ginette Reno is the 'mother' of all the women in her. For those who want to hear what TLFM would sound like as a strictly acoustic disc, four of the songs from the album are presented that way.
An article about Lara's vacations in Sicily with her mother's family was published in the magazine 'Tele moustique" on the 16th; a translation of it is kindly provided on the web site given above. A video of part of one such vacation was included in the DVD "Intime".
EWIM continues to get great reviews from the fans; although all the songs have been praised, perhaps the most favored is "Why", the Annie Lenox cover. There have been little in the way of official reviews from the French music industry. Of course, it's not clear whether the album is an official release. The 'boutique' on Lara's site is not yet open to sell it, nor is anything yet available on larafabianweb.com, where Laetitia is supposed to be back today. Its French counterpart TLFM has dropped to 70th on the charts in France. Nevertheless, given that she will be promoting it in numerous French towns for the next six months, it could well have staying power.
Maria on the official site notes that there is now a Russian 'farfallina', which is actually being sold. The cover is visible at:

Presumably it is a 'fan edition', like the Russian official-looking website discussed in last week's update. As also noted previously, the real Farfallina has taken a backseat to the tour preparations, but will eventually appear with 'special surprises'.
In upcoming events, the highlight is Lara's last October concert, taking place at the Zenith in Lille tomorrow. [Its placement is sort of odd, coming several weeks after the Paris shows, and followed by a hiatus for a month]. In addition, Lara will be on TF1 with host Michael Drucker this coming Thursday. She will be present for the recording of the program "Les enfants de la télé" next Monday (to be broadcast November 7th), and she may or may not be on 'L'ecole de fans' which is to be recorded the same day. So despite the break, we can safely assume she will not be completely absent from the media scene. However, Lara cancelled her appearance on "Panique dans l'oreillette" which was to take place on November 2nd; whether it was from fatigue, or not wanting to interrupt her rest period - or she had some trepidation concerning the program, as some fans have suggested - is not known.
EWIM will presumably once again be sold during tomorrow's concert. Hopefully, it will become more generally available before the next concert on November 24th.
