The big news this past week was Lara's meeting with fans on Sunday, winners of the contest to hear her rehearsal. Lara sang some songs from TLFM - 'Mamy Bleu', 'Soleil, soleil', 'Amoureuse', 'Ca Casse, and a wonderful version of 'Gottingen' (with violins). Fans had the opportunity to ask her questions - which apparently was used mostly to express their feelings for her - gave her some presents, and reported that she was gracious and sincere, as always. Some pictures of the event are available on the official site, (most of the way down the page) at:

Preparation for the upcoming tour and promotion of the album is ramping up. In addition to an interview on Bel RTL on the 12th (and her show on BEL RTL TV from the 7th, now available on NABBOX), Lara has recorded a short promo that has been played on France Bleu radio. Posters have appeared in Belgium, in Paris, and in other cities in France advertising the concerts. This is good news, and is just one more indication of the seriousness with which she is taking this tour. [One wonders how much of the promo is arranged by Lara's own people and how much her record company contributes. In this day and age when people are discussing abandoning record companies and selling records straight from their websites, it would be useful to know how much help the artists get with their concert promotions.]
The concerts on October 7th and 8th at the Zenith in Paris are listed as 'sold out' on some of the posters. However, people have found that the 7th isn't really completely filled, as a few tickets still remain. Regardless, it is good news, considering that the option for the 9th was not picked up (maybe, if the other two shows are really full, that could be reconsidered).
It was reported this week that the single TLFM is now for sale in at least some record stores. This is a distinction relative to the singles for 'Neuf' which were generally not available. The album itself has fallen 7 places, and is now 50th in France, while it is up 2 places to 12th in Belgium.
Lara gave an interview for the Gay and Lesbian magazine "Tribu Move". The article was again part of the promotion for her upcoming tour, but she apparently took the opportunity to speak out about the injustices these groups experience, saying she feels 'la difference' as if she herself 'was one of them'.
Maurane in the latest Platine indicated that while she has had a 'rapprochement' with Lara dating from Lara's birthday, the 'affair Sophie' has still left hard feelings. You may remember that Sophie was Maurane's manager, and Lara 'stole her away'. Maurane said that once Sophie started working for Lara, that was the last anyone saw of her. Maurane also indicated that Lara has now let Sophie go. [It's a sign of the still slow times that this news makes the 'update'.]
Next week is one week closer to the concerts beginning, and also the possibility of an appearance on Hep'taxi (on Belgian TV), still to be confirmed.

Ps - As indicated last week, News Updates will be on Tuesday from now on.
