Lara's appearance on "L'habit ne fait pas" hosted by Jean Luc Lemoine was shown on France 2 last night. As noted in the video available on Youtube, Lara was presented with three challenges - to sing a particular loud song softly, a soft song loudly, and 'Je t'aime' forcefully but without pronouncing the consonants. Her rendition of "Je t'aime" (or, "e aie") was wonderfully done. She also did a lip-synching version of "Soleil Soleil" at the end of the show with the official video playing simultaneously. It too is available on Youtube.
But the big news this past week, as restck1989 provided in the thread for last week's update, is that Lara has apparently agreed to be in an English speaking movie, to be filmed (for her part) in February in northern Italy. As described on the movie's website, www.charliefilm.co.uk/about.html, Lara will also 'contribute' to the movie's soundtrack, although whether it is via vocals or writing is not clear.
Yes we know we have heard similar stories many times before and they have failed to materialize, but this has the ring of authenticity. On the forum of the movie site, there was this exchange with the film's director, Mike Ogden (courtesy Annie on Hezia's site):

That's a really strange story. Part of making this film has been spookily coincidental, especially recently when we... ah, can't tell you that one yet.
I was doing some research on film related Italian musicians. Lara has a background in this area so a link was made. I watched her performances and I was struck as to how much she looked like I'd imagined Lara in the script and she is exactly the right age. Very weird. I mulled over her for quite a long time, watched her perform and realized that Lara tends to be expressive and dramatic in her work, so I felt confident she could do this role. I managed to track her down and got the script to her, which was no mean feat. I thought she'd turn me down flat. We had a chat about the film and realized we seemed to be on the same wavelength and so I offered her the part of 'Mimi', the doctors wife. It's not a huge role, but 'Mimi' is significant to the story of Marco and is a great character to play. There is one bit in the story when .... oh hell. Almost…

Lara does have a three week hiatus in her concert tour in February between the beginning and the end - one wonders whether the tour was purposely set up that way, which would imply this has been in the works for months. [Of course, it goes without saying that despite its importance, the news was broken by fans, not by the official website; when the official site was asked whether it was true, there was no response…]
Lara was on RTL radio this morning, a program in which stars relate stories about their vacations. She recounted an incident that occurred when she was 8 years old, and was out in a boat with her parents. The motor broke down, and they had to wait for some 8 hours before anyone came to their relief.
Speaking of vacations, Lara was interviewed in 'France Dimanche' and said that she spent time in Sicily with Lou and her mouther and aunts. She also indicated that her own mother and grandmother (along with a friend) were the people who have allowed her to be what she is today (...along with the singers on TLFM, of course; and EWIM… ;D; ). And for those who have wondered, in response to a fan's question previously, Lara indicated she would not be in Quebec this summer.
In what qualifies as 'summer doldrum news': An article in 'purepeople' (and also in the 'Closer') focuses on the apparent rivalry between Maruane and Lara, pointing out that not only has Lara chosen to be at the Zenith in Paris (October 4-6) at the same time that Maurane is at the Alhambra, but that Lara has just hired two of the members of Maurane's chorus. The article jokes that Lara has taken the title of the song 'Tu es mon autre' (which Maurane sang with her) literally! We know that in the past Lara had hired away Maurane's manager. Candy on the official site noted that Lara employed some of Maurane's musicians on the 'Un Regard Neuf' tour, as well as Maurane's sister for the costumes. In the past, Maurane had said in the press that she hadn't spoken to Lara for two years, before getting back together on Lara's birthday. Despite this report, it seems overblown: Maurane after all did appear and sing with Lara on 'quelque chose en nous de', the Belgian program dedicated to Lara earlier this year. Actually, we will have a chance to see whether they are still close, for those 'close to Lara' are to appear on stage with her in the show 'Panique dans l'oreillette' to be taped and shown this fall.
TLFM has jumped 22 places to 38th in France, and 6 places to 22nd in Belgium. Although TLFM has just become available at a reduced price (~10 euros, similar to the price being charged for 'other bestsellers') it may be too soon for that to have had an effect. It is good news preceding what will presumably be a new wave of publicity starting this fall, in conjunction with the upcoming tour.
Finally, some nice pictures of Lara from her October 2008 private concert were put on Hezia's site by angeyelliel, at:
