Lara's appearance on LA BOITE A MUSIQUE finally aired this past Friday. As promised, she performed "Addio del Passato" on a program suitable for that type of song. It was a careful, sensitive rendition in which she hit all the right notes, reminiscent of her ETI tour rather than the earlier, more operatic style. The video is available on Youtube and Nabbox, the latter featuring the full show in which it can be seen that Lara was subsequently questioned about TLFM. As an added note of interest, this version is now the song played on the welcome page of the official website (which in other respects, like upcoming appearances, is not being kept up-to-date).
An interview with Igor Krutoi appeared in Russia in which he indicated that 4 songs from Lara's next album (with him) have been recorded, and 70% of the album has been completed (presumably this means written and decided upon). There will be 11 videos to accompany the songs, one for each (as there was for 'Neuf"), to be directed by Alan Badoev. He expected that the album would be finished in October. He also said that its release had originally been planned for August of 2010 but now may be moved up to the beginning of the year.
Of course this raises the same questions that came up last week - with that as a release date, how is it going to be promoted on a tour that already seems to have its full quota of songs; and what about the album with the Israeli composer that in the 'Platine' interview Lara said was to be next? If it indeed comes to pass (as we know, far from a certainty), I suppose the answer to both these questions is 'things change'. In this case, perhaps Lara is anxious to counter the negative reviews she received (unjustly IMHO) for TLFM; the reviews she's received for 'Demain n'existe pas' must be very pleasing in comparison and may well have raised her hopes. But if it were released in January, that would have Lara producing (and having to promote) three albums (including EWIM) in little more than a six month period.
Meanwhile, TLFM stayed in 60th place in sales in France this past week, and dropped to 29th (losing 12 places) in Belgium. A little more than a month until the fall tour starts - with presumably a promotion to precede that - and a hoped-for rejuvenation of the album. Lara is lining up additional TV appearances for the fall, including "Chabada" and "Panique dans l'oreillette"; this is on top of several other programs already scheduled. While each of the shows has its own theme, it does serve to keep Lara in the public's mind. As noted by 'Ocelot' in another post, Lara's appearance on the program "Star Six Music" to promote the album was replayed during the week (it was originally shown in June); it is available on NABBOX.
The program 'Star six' reportedly had a segment showing the first appearances of Lara and Celine Dion. Lara's was from her performance of "Croire". The point was a humorous one; we have seen Lara's reaction to her outfits from those days!
Lara's interview with Jean Luc Lemoine recorded on June 26th is expected to air this coming week, August 22 on France 2. It is reportedly to be re-shown the following week on the 'best of' collection.
