News Update: 8/9/09
In the depths of the summertime hiatus, Lara had no public appearances this week. It is not inconceivable that she is spending time working on the staging of the upcoming tour – or perhaps she’s on vacation in Montreal (having just gotten back from there, I can say I did not see her… ).
More reports (this time on “ptit blog”) that the date for the release of the new album, or at least its first single (‘Demain n’existe pas’) is the beginning of 2010. Obviously this would be in the middle of her tour of some 40 shows – but maybe that’s the point, that way she wouldn’t have to have a separate tour to push it. The problem with this interpretation is that Lara mentioned in ‘Platine’ that she will be doing all the songs from TLFM, in effect indicating that the tour is to promote that album (and EWIM). Given the other, older songs she says will also be included, there’s just no room for much from the newer album. As usual, nothing involving Lara is clear or predictable!
Concerning TLFM: Jonlee on the official site reported that it is now 60th in France (down 12 positions) and 17th in Belgium (up one). The hope would be that once the promotion starts again with the expected release of TLFM as the new single (which larafabianweb.com lists as September 1st) – and the tour begins towards the end of September, the album will be renewed in the public consciousness.
Larafabianweb.com also lists the release of EWIM as scheduled for September 1st. This listing is a month old, so things may have changed. Perhaps the e-shop on the official site will open around that time as well.
And concerning Lara’s possible position as a juror on “Incroyable talent” and the horror that evoked in some of Lara’s fans – VSD announced that they have chosen the final two jurors and they are Smaïn et Valérie Stroh. Apparently Lara and Helene Sagara were asked and both refused. The mean-spirited nature of the program was not appropriate for Lara, and it would have been too much to expect that she could have altered it.
In the coming week, Lara’s appearance on the show “La boite a musique”, which was originally recorded in April, is presumably going to be shown on France 2 on August 14th. She reportedly sang the aria from “La Traviata” in ‘piano-voice’.
