During last week, the week of Lara’s birthday, the new site (www.larafabian.com) completed its opening – perhaps her birthday was the ‘event’ they were waiting for, or maybe it was just a coincidence. However, other than transfering the forum from the old site to the new one, nothing else changed – the English and Italian sections still don’t operate, the strange Latin sentences under the videos in the DVD section are still there, one cannot yet renew fan club subscriptions, etc. There was no official message welcoming people to the site on the forum. So far, new site, same lack of attention (the new graphics are nice, however). Note that according to info concerning this URL, it was (re)created on 10-21-08 and is still registered to Sony. The implications of that may be profound or meaningless, but in either respect, at this point in time there does not seem to be any oversight from any official record company, and probably won’t be. The old site is now officially closed (one is transferred to the new one).
While still on websites, in case one isn’t familiar with it, there is a website devoted to Lara that has some interesting material at:
youmix.co.uk/artist/6272
The accuracy of the information given (e.g., the future concerts list, which seems to be derived from the false rumors) cannot be guaranteed, but it does provide a lot of audios/videos/pictures.
The rest of the news concerned future events of greater or lesser certainty. In the ‘more certain’ category, it was announced that Johnny Hallyday is retiring from the Paris stage with a series of concerts May 29-31 at the Stade de France, and Lara is one of the invitees scheduled to sing with him. One can speculate as to what they would perform – will it be ‘Requiem pour un fou’ again? While there is no guarantee that Lara actually will appear, the grandeur of this event is probably sufficient to attract her (Celine Dion is one of the others scheduled to be there, in conjunction with a new album she is releasing).
“Southamepton”, on Laradom, reported that the Russian site for Lara, larafabian-rus.narod.ru, indicated Lara is starting to work on a new album with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoi. He produces ‘middle of the road’ music, as can be seen by 'googling' him or by the videos associated with him that are available on Youtube. What this would mean for the next album, now scheduled for April, is uncertain – ‘Southamepton’ indicated that the Russian news item suggested the work would be finished by March, which leads one to wonder if he was ‘brought in’ to improve TLFM. At this point, it falls into the category of ‘just one more rumor’.
Also apparently on the agenda: in her Brussels interview, Lara indicated she wants another child. Given that she just turned 39, we might expect a new period of public inactivity in the next year or so – unless this too becomes an unfinished project. What that would mean for her flagging career is: TFLM (and whatever other language versions of it arise) better be a big success.
