As noted in last week’s update, Lara did appear as the hostess for the circus in Brussels last Saturday; a few pictures are available (thanks to JediJunior on Laradom) at:

Some fans indicated that they would have gone to see Lara had they known in advance, even though it turned out she was there just to present a trophy to the winner of some contest, not to perform. The official site hadn’t mentioned her appearance beforehand, perhaps because it really wasn’t an ‘official performance’ although that possible explanation didn’t satisfy everybody. Also, apparently some fans knew several weeks in advance Lara was going to be there and neglected to mention it on any website, lending a further air of grievance to the proceedings. At this time of year, when Lara had planned to be in full swing with the promotion for her new album, she and others are undoubtedly disappointed, and that frustration comes out easily.
Adding to the fans (and probably Lara’s) worries was an article that appeared on the website:

Here is the translation:

LARA FABIAN OBLIGED TO RECONSIDER HER COPY: HER ALBUM DOESN'T PLEASE HER BOSS!
Three years! That makes three years, since the release of Made in Italy, that one waits for the publication of the new album of Lara Fabian.
Yet, the musical object exists. It is called “Toutes les femmes”. But this new disc looks like it didn’t please Pascal Negre, the boss of Universal, who preferred to leave it on the shelf…
According to “Closer”, on sale this morning, the fans of Lara must still be patient, at least until March 8m 2009, to discover this new opus.
Among the reproaches that Pascal Negre made of the album, it is the fact that he doesn’t like the idea that the disc contains some reprises (like Nuit Magique, of Catherine Lara). Furthermore, he doesn’t appreciate the arrangements.
In brief, all is wrong for Lara, who can, while waiting, console herself with her television broadcast project…
---------------------------------------------------------
After all the false articles, one shouldn’t automatically assume this one is true, but most fans believed it – pushing the album back three months implies more than a slight remixing problem. What the next album, when it does appear, ends up looking like is anybody’s guess as this point. Some people suggested that an album of some reprises and some new songs would be more likely; some hope for a double album - one CD of the reprises, and one of the original songs that Lara said was also ready (however questionable that may be). Fans who wrote in thought that picking on “Nuit Magique” was unjust – in fact, in a contest on one of the websites, it was far and away the preferred favorite for the first single. Eventually we will learn whether Universal really cared, and if so, how much of a say they have about what Lara releases (keeping in mind her battles with Sony).
For those of you who never saw it, when Lara’s web site first opened several years ago, she left a Christmas video for the fans. Valou712, on Hezia’s site, kindly placed a copy of it at the following link:

Finally, Mario Frangoulis’ album with Lara’s participation, said to be due out November 21st, has still not appeared. Apparently not only Lara has (a) false rumors or (b) trouble with their record company.
