The big news this week is that Lara announced a private concert on October 16 in Brussels exclusively for members of her fan club. Here’s the (translated) invitation:

Surprise!
My Angels,
As I had promised you, we are finally able to meet you concerning a concert a little bit special, a little interactive, and that is next October 16 in Brussels.
You are all invited there. Write quickly on our site www.lara-fabian.fr while rejoining the rubric fan-club (you will find there the path to follow).
I propose to make a duo with one among you on stage that day. You could download the version PBO of my song “J’y crois encore”, record it with your voice and send it to me on the site.
My team and myself will chose him or her who will be the happy elected one and this choice will be revealed that day.
I’m looking forward to this meeting.
To all of you soon,
Lara

Singing with Lara would appear to be a daunting proposition (nobody has yet sent in anything, as far as one can tell) – and the song "j’y crois encore" makes it even more difficult. People are discussing how to provide the best sounding clip. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
As one fan pointed out, this private concert is one of the few benefits that being a member of the fan club has produced. Lara mentioned in a previous message that there would also be a fan club meeting in France, following the one in Belgium. It would be nice if she further extended this activity to North America, at least in Montreal.
The invitation appeared in the 11th edition of Farfallina (the other fan club benefit), which is now being received in Europe.
In other news, chartsinfrance.net had the following article on Lara (in translation):
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian on the shelves December 1st
Her return was not meant to take place before February 2009, but it would seem that the abandonment of the theatrical project with Fabrice Lucchini and Mathilde Seinger, permits her to return earlier than predicted to song. The new album of Lara Fabian will in effect be on the shelves next December 1st.
Absent because of maternity (she is the mother of a small Lou since last November), Lara Fabian will return to the shelves earlier than predicted, the 1st of December 2008 (since her work had been announced for February 2009) with a new album which will contain 13 titles, some 10 in French (with a reprise), one in English, one in Italian and one in Spanish. The first single should already be available to radios at the end of the summer. Lara Fabian would have, as is her habit, written most of the texts; it remains to know who has produced the music since her separation with the composer and guitarist Jean-Felix Lalanne.
She envisions equally a very quick return to the stage for a series of concerts from 23-25 October 2009 at the Casino de Paris, following those from the 13-14 October at the Cirque Royal in Brussels, 16 and 17 October at the Forum de Liège, 19 October 2009 at the Palais des Beaux Arts de Charleroi and 21 Octobre 2009 at the Théâtre Sébastopol de Lille. Some other shows are expected in Greece, Russia and the Ukraine.
In other respects, the theatre project that Lara Fabian was going to play in from the month of September with Mathilde Seigner and Fabrice Luchini, “Les emmerdeuses”, seem definitely to have “fallen into the water”…

It is hard to know what to make of any of this – there is so much conflicting information concerning Lara that (even though this translation is provided here) it is probably best to doubt most of it. The article takes for granted that the ‘misinformation’ promulgated several months ago was in fact correct, and that Lara actually backed out of the theatre production. It therefore implicitly assumes that the concert information given at that time for October 2009 was correct - though it could hardly be called a ‘rapid return to the stage’ were it to really take place some 11 months after the release of the album. Other information said that she would have a tour in 2009 that included Belgium, Switzerland and France. We also know that the new album is being done with Matt Herskowitz, which somehow this publication has yet to find out.
None of this has been confirmed on the official site, so as we have learned, that alone makes it still suspect – and even such a listing would be no guarantee, since new albums often miss their deadline As discussed in last week’s update, a release before the Christmas holidays would be appropriate for a ‘classical’ album.
Lara's forum is currently off-line, which may mean there is some updating occurring, perhaps even some clarification by Lara of one or another of these points. If so, a comment about that will be added later.
