One advantage to having the ‘news update’ only once a week is that often stories arise concerning Lara or her future plans that require several days for confirmation. This week even that delay was not sufficient, and it is still not clear what the truth is. Therefore it seems worthwhile to review what was reported, rumors included.
On Wednesday, various people noted that the Cherie FM forum had news concerning Lara’s future plans.

Here were the main points:
1) Lara will be on “La methode cauet” show on French TV May 22nd. She will be joined by Mathilde Seigner.
2) They will speak about a theatre production that they will do together beginning in late September 2008 called LES EMMERDEUSES. It is a comedy and there will be 40 performances.
3) Lara is currently in Quebec, working on the new album, which is scheduled to be released by Univeral in Feburary 2009. It will contain 12 or 13 songs; one each in English, Italian and Spanish, the rest in French. They will all be in the classical motif.
4) Lara will be at the Casino de Paris October 23-25 2009 (presumably associated with a tour for the new album).
Given the source (Cherie FM is close to Lara), and that some of it was also mentioned after they played one of Lara’s songs, it had a certain amount of credibility. The timing also seemed realistic, since it marked a delay in the scheduled release of the new album, something that invariably happens with Lara.
It therefore became the subject of discussion on the Official site. Despite their reluctance to participate on their own site, Lara’s people then felt compelled to comment; here’s the translation of what Christian said, in the official response:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good day to you all,
I regret to tell you that the information that you have made reference to is not right (‘juste’).
Christian

People then pondered what that meant. It was pointed out that he did not use the word false (‘fausse’) which he could have, but instead seemed to be implying something between the lines. [This is the sort of ‘tea-leaf reading’ that Lara’s fans have to resort to, given that her organization is as secretive as the Kremlin used to be.] Furthering that point of view, Ali (on Hezia’s site) providing information said to come from a friend who works for Universal, reported (1) that the information concerning the next album and the Casino de Paris was not false, it’s just that nothing has yet been signed off; (2) concerning the theatre production (which is not associated with Universal), there will be ‘a future surprise!’; and (3) Lara has to be in Paris the beginning of May (this coming week).
There were other reports that she actually is in Quebec now. And a further comment (again, claiming to be authoritative), that she will do the show with Cauet, but it has not yet been recorded, and so may not be on that date.
What to make of all this is of course anybody’s guess, but at the very least the evidence is growing that Lara has been working on the new album in Quebec. The date for the Cauet show is less than a month away, so at least we’ll find out if that is true; and indeed, Lara’s upcoming concert in Greece is before that, so she may provide some information even sooner.
[As an aside, the reticence of Lara’s people to provide information concerning her future plans may be frustrating and lead to circumstances like this, but when Lara has done so, they often didn’t take place anyway…which is equally irritating! The current stance of not saying anything until all the “i”s are dotted and “t”s crossed is, I suppose, a reaction to the criticism she has received for providing such inaccurate forecasts. It wouldn’t be surprising if she is equally frustrated by the fans continuing to demand answers to things she is still not sure about – but that’s a lot better than having the fans not care about what she’s going to do…]
In other news, Farfallina 10 has now been received throughout France, but not yet in Quebec. As expected, it has beautiful pictures of Lara (including, apparently, in Israel), but nothing about new projects, or how it is to be a new mother, or anything about the child at all. Rather than being a real newsletter, Farfallina has become a travelogue (and an expensive one, at that).
Universal Music, in an unexpected entry into Lara’s life, has raised the question of whether people would like to have a “chat with Lara”. Perhaps they feel that with Lara being away so long, they need to help drum up some business. But first they apparently want to see how many people are interested. You can vote for the chat, and be included in either an email or phone interaction at:

In several weeks, we can stop talking about what Lara may do, and instead be able to enjoy what she is doing.
