The highlight of this week, and perhaps any other week, was the "The Night of the Proms" show televised on Belgian TV last night. Rochlara put the videos of Lara's performance on the NABOX forum. Lara did three solo songs: "Aime", "I'm so Excited" and "Adagio" [Lara also participated in the finale ("All You Need Is Love") which has not yet been added there, and may not be.] To say that Lara's performance was sensational is to understate the point - they may be as good as anything she has ever done, for all three songs. [For those not familiar with NABOX, you have to register, and then to 'unlock' the video 'box', you must add a response (often people just say 'thank you').] Interestingly, they did not broadcast any of the 'duos' that Lara did (e.g., with 'Tears for Fears'). Perhaps they heard those solo songs and didn't want to waste her 'air time' on anything else!
In other news, a few new items appeared on the official site this week. The concert on the 16th of May in Greece with Mario Frangoulis has now been officially acknowledged, joining the 17th in Greece and the concerts in Moscow and the Ukraine at the end of the month for Lara's 'coming out' party. The opening music on the site is now a small portion of the piano nocturne made up of the various songs from Nue that closed that great album; it was played by Matt Herskowitz, so clearly this is to spark interest in the 'classical' album to come.
As to when this album will be out: searching for the faint clues from Lara's people, it was noticed that the last line of the biography on the official site has been changed; it now reads in English: "Lara is preparing a new album which should be launched after the holidays". However, in French, if refers to "à la rentrée" which stands for the return after summer vacation, i.e., in September. Even if this is a 'clue', we know not to take any such dates very seriously.
Note that the new intro song is not in 'Italian', further diminishing the likelihood of an Italian album. Various people have been writing into the site asking about that album; the lack of response is a response in itself. BTW, if you want to check your account status on the site, don't bother - it doesn't work, and hasn't for some time for most people. To state the obvious: this site is clearly not a high priority for them.
A positive sign, however, is that Eve has announced that she is leaving as administrator of the site as of July 1st. It is not an exaggeration to say that she has been an unmitigated disaster, and it couldn't be any worse with anybody else. So far no new person has been named, though Eve says that Christian and Nathalie, the moderators, will still be there. Ultimately, no administrator will succeed without active cooperation from Lara and her team, but the person can at least be responsive (even, as has been suggested, just saying 'no information is yet available'), and diplomatic!
In contrast, the energy of Lara's team appears to have gone into Farfallina 10, which according to Eve will be sent out at the end of next week. That is a pretty fast turnaround, considering that Farfallina 9 was just received by many people. Eve won't indicate the contents, however; best not to expect too much!
Some fans have generated a 'facebook' page for Lara. It can be found at:
www.facebook.com/pages/Lara-Fabian/11463956019
While it looks official, it apparently has no association with Lara herself or any of her 'team'. It also needs plenty of work - as bad as the official site is, the 'biography' ends in 2003! Clearly, if more people contribute to it, it could be made into what the official site really should be.
Lara may be in Canada recording the new album, but there is no explicit information I have seen verifying that. However, if there was any doubt that her voice was up to handling 'classical' music, listening to her performance of 'Adagio' from last spring should end that concern.
