Lara's maternity hiatus continued unabated this week, with no public appearances or even sightings. However, news did appear concerning a new album for Lara. As presented by itallen974 on Laradom, here are the relevant parts (in translation) of an article that appeared on January 23:

The pianist of Manilow and Fabian will play some Gershwin
Matt Herskowitz, on stage in Quebec

After having accompanied Barry Manilow on a Christmas record appearing last autumn, the renowned pianist Matt Herskowitz is currently working on the preparation of an album in collaboration with Lara Fabian.
"It is a serious project. It is an album with a classical flavor. The record will contain some compositions of Lara (Fabian) and of mine, in addition to songs inspired by a classical air, like a Prelude of Chopin", said the pianist, originally from Albany in the state of New York. He has resided in Montreal for nine years.
Herskowitz doesn't know when the album will be released. As for the singer, at this moment, it is her rather recent maternity which occupies her. However, the pianist, arranger and composer, is to go to Belgium, in February, to work on the record. A demo ought to be recorded in Montreal, in March, during the next passage of the singer to the Quebec territory.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The fact that somebody other than Lara is saying it gives it added credence, although she has mentioned this collaboration several times over the past year. His comment about not knowing when the album will appear also makes it more credible! [Note: The title of the article refers to a portion not included in the translation discussing Matt's coming appearance to play Chopin music in Montreal on February 5.]
The other news in the article concerns Lara's plan to go to Montreal in March. It makes one wonder whether, if that takes place, there might perhaps be a concert associated with it - or at least some media appearances.
Still no news concerning the Italian album; none of the websites that list anticipated albums for 2008 mention it (or the multi-lingual album, for that matter).
