I thought this would be a good place to post albums that you were really impressed with but maybe you don't think all the artist's stuff is worth checking out.
LeAnn Rimes - This Woman
I love this album of LeAnn's, she really found her place on it. The lyrics are a lot stronger and she has enough life experience that she now understands a lot of the emotions in the songs and therefore is able to put her heart and soul into her performances of the songs and have them come out honest. My favourite songs are You Take Me Home, The Weight of Love, Probably Wouldn't Be This Way, and When This Woman Loves A Man.

This is a great idea for a post! I almost bought this one last week after you mentioned it to me, but couldn't afford it at the time due to some other things I needed to buy instead out of commitments. Sounds like a great album from what you have said, and from the lyrics you have posted too! I will check it out....thanks!

"Stones In The Road" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. I really love this album! Falls somewhere between country-rock and folk, and the lyrical content is excellent. A really good listen, and one that I think both of you would enjoy (Shavon and Leona.)

"Gutterflower" by The Goo Goo Dolls. I saw them in concert in Cleveland, Ohio a few years back. They opened for Gin Blossoms, and I have to say they absolutely blew them away! A very good concert band! I have all of their albums, and think that this one is their most complete from start to finish. They have better songs on other albums, but the albums are not as strong. They really came into their own on this one! Check it out, see if you agree!

"Irish Son" - Brian McFadden. This album has some incredible songs on it. I've shared a lot of the songs in the "Lyrics" topics. My favourite songs are: Almost Here (with Delta), Demons, Walking Disaster, He's No Hero, Real to Me, Sorry Love Daddy and Irish Son. There's not a song on this album that I don't like.

Rebecca St. James - If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something
This is what Rebecca wrote in the liner notes about the album:
The central theme of the album is "You are Loved." Really, it's the central theme of the Christian life. Without the knowledge that we are loved extravagantly by God, we can't love Him back, we can't live a holy life - we can't trust Him. But when we understand that He loves us - so deeply and so passionately - and that He wants us to live this great adventure with Him - then we can understand who He is and love Him with all that we are.
My favourite songs on this ablum are: God Help Me, Alive, You Are Loved, Beautiful Stranger, Take All Of Me, Lest I Forget, and Shadowlands. I have shared a bunch of the lyrics of this album in the favourite lyrics topic.

"The Battle For Everything" by Five For Fighting. This album has a really nice 'feel' to it, and offers a lot to think about. Next post will be from his website, where he has an "email of the week" board. I include it because I think it says well in its simplicity the effect the album has on me as well.

John, That last line on the last song of the Track was to me the most powerful line in all the CD. I really wanted to stop by and comment on how much I admire your songs and how you get the message across. I'm like the crocodile in "Disneyland" I play the CD till everyone gets sick of it. I never do, but that's just me (and probably a lot of other people).
The other line that really hit me was in "Devil in the Wishing Well" how he says, "I just want someone to understand my pain." It was more far-reaching than any music that i've heard, and I like to look for music that has a message, some truth to what's happening in this crazy world.
Anyways, I guess people say this a lot, but you're really great and I think that you're the "taste" people need here, a normal guy to stop and say, "hey" this is what's going on. People are so wrapped up in foolish things that don't matter, and even more since it's the holidays.
I know some people don't understand or just don't care anymore, but I'll keep playing on and thanks for all your hardwork, it really does make a difference, if only for a moment.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.

Twila Paris - True North
This is one of my favourite albums ever. I love the songs Wisdom, I Choose Grace, True North, and Run to You. In my mind there's not a weak song on the album.

Rosanne Cash- "Black Cadillac" A person at work calls me to her office to give me a cd and asks me to make a copy for her and while I'm at it, make a copy for myself. "I know you'll love this album" she tells me as she is handing it to me. "Why's that?" I ask her. "Because I know how much you love Bruce Springsteen, which means that words matter to you. This album is loaded with words that matter. And I know how much you went through at the passing of your father. A lot of this album is about what Rosanne experienced when her father, Johnny Cash, passed away." Well, she was right about me loving the album! Not at all previously familiar with anything by Rosanne Cash, this album came as a very unexpected surprise. She has a lot of depth, and I have to give this album a very strong recommendation. I cannot list my favorite songs, because I think the album is a beautiful work of art meant to be taken in its entirety. Go get it! If you don't like it, I'll buy you one that you will.
