Well, being that I just celebrated a birthday, my family knew exactly what to get me and so I got a few CDs. All three are very good and I have been listening to them quite a bit!

The overature from Astral - Signs of Love… or as those of us who are taking French lessons would say; Ouverture: Astrale – Signe De L’Amour. (Although, I’m going to have to check with my French teacher just to make sure I spelled it right.) This is an orchestral work by one of the premier guitarist on this planet, Jean-Felix Lalanne. You might remember him from his superb acoustic guitar background to Lara’s Bambino. Check out his MySpace site at www.myspace.com/jeanfelixlalanne and you can hear Astrale in its entirety. Upon opening the site, the first thing that will play is Extracits La Symphony and that’s nice too. Also included in the play list is the tract “Irish Country Dances” from his CD “Ensemble”. I have to tell you; if you want to here some good ol’ down home “Belgium” pickin’ and grinning, check this one out. As far as my opinion of Jean-Felix Lalanne’s orchestral work La Symphonie Astrale goes; starting out with an overture that is simply divine, Jean-Felix takes us on a delightful journey through the Zodiac by way of his musical imagination. With this passionate composition he explores and demonstrates all the emotional height, depth, width and weight a solar system as big and diverse as ours contains. Being conveyed simply and convincingly, I found Jean-Felix’s La Symphonie Astrale to be an absolutely good listen. Oh! One other thing if you don’t mind, when you are at his MySpace site, scroll down to the comments sections and see what I posted about the album. If saying what I did and sticking my trombone in the big middle of all his French MySpace friends and comments doesn’t get me kicked off of Jean-Felix’s MySpace, I don’t know what will. Ok! Ok! Two other things; please let me know if a post like this is not appropriate for this thread - even thought I have been surfing the net for some time now, sometimes concerning matters of internet etiquette, I still feel like I can’t find my backside with both hands. Jim

Lately I have been listening to Sarah McLachlan nonstop. She is easily my second favorite female artist behind Lara Fabian. I recently bought her debut album "Touch" which I had never heard before. I guess that's what got me in the mood for Sarah again, and I've been listening to her ever since!
On "Touch" she is obviously young and sounds much different than she does in later albums. The sound quality is not that great either. But the songs are great and the lyrics amazing! After getting used to the sound I really got absorbed in the whole experience! The song "Vox" is perhaps my favorite and, WOW!, would I love for her to remake the song with a better quality sound.
I also went out and bought the complete concert CD of "Mirrorball", which in my opinion is far superior to the edited version that first came out. The first version available had 14 songs, while the complete concert version has all 23 songs from the show in the order in which they were performed. And guess what? The song "Vox" is on it! A 2-disc CD set of the complete concert is also available, and so I just had to have that as well (hey, I gotta put it in my iPod).
This will be for another post, but I have really been captured by the song "Do What You Have To Do". It got me thinking about my father again and how much I miss him. I'll save that for another post......
