No public announcements, or interactions with fans this past week for Lara, but the link for Lara’s upcoming book “Je passe a table” can once again be found at
www.leslibraires.ca/livres/je-passe-a-table-lara-fabian-9782764813485.html?fbclid=IwAR3ThmMw8ltSpnXII3voFfSDRdnqVbcFyYzRxGoifD5dqFqb8nmPG0eAsmw
It appears it will have a soft cover. As noted previously, it will become available from this Canadian source on November 3rd. The book costs $34.95 (Canadian dollars); it can be ordered for delivery in France, but that will probably double its cost. Lara, in the few interviews that have discussed it, has noted that it’s a book of memoirs with recipes illustrating the points. The website is advertising it as a ‘food’ book.
This coming weekend in Montreal marks the last chance to audition for the Star Academie as noted in (https://www.journaldequebec.com/2021/10/06/star-academie-derniere-chance-de-participer-aux-auditions):
-----------------------------
The Star Académie 2022 auditions are already drawing to a close. After touring Quebec and New Brunswick in the last few weeks, the bus in the colors of the popular show will come back to Montreal this weekend, for a final series of meetings with potential future candidates.
This Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October, singers interested in trying their luck can come to the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel (by appointment only, sanitary measures required) to have the opportunity to assert themselves before the judges. And, who knows, maybe get a pass to enter Waterloo Academy after the holidays!
You can register to audition at staracademie.ca . A confirmation email is sent after registration, with a specific convocation time. Proof of adequate vaccination will be required on site.

Last week we noted the new song sung by the Star Academie finalists Lunou Zucchini and William Cloutier (written and played by Ariane Moffatt). It can be heard at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=72ae7iNsldQ
As also noted, they will be touring Quebec together next spring (e.g., www.artsdrummondville.com/spectacles-drummondville/spectacles/la-tournee-des-finalistes-de-star-academie/william-cloutier-et-lunou-zucchini/24-03-2022-20-00).
You may remember that the Star Academie was a finalist for the public “Prix Gemeaux” in Quebec (Prix Gemeaux du Public Fonds COGECO). The opinion here was that with all of TVA’s clout, it would be a likely winner. However – that was wrong! The winner was “En Direct de L’Univers - Season 12” which was on ICI Radio-Canada Télé. On that show, France Beaudoin "welcomes personalities from all walks of life, who see the songs that have marked their lives performed by their favorite artists". So they have both famous people reliving important moments in their life, and equally famous people performing them. Apparently that tops young, unknown performers finding their way in life through song – at least among the more ‘computer savvy’ people who voted. In terms of audience, while both shows were top rated for their respective viewing slots, Star Academie generally topped ‘En Direct de l’Univers’ in viewership – doing so 7 of the 10 weeks they were both on, and overall having a higher AMA rating (1402 compared with 1323) (https://en.numeris.ca/media-and-events/tv-weekly-top-30#).
Another point to note: ‘En direct’ also has built up its audience via 12 successive seasons. Maybe Star Academie can build its value as time goes on, if given the chance; it has one more season, at least.
Similarly, the “Star Academie -the Daily” lost out for ‘Best Reality TV Show’ to “Les Chefs!”, Season 10. As the title implies, it’s a culinary competition show, and, as usual for programs of this nature, has very demanding (aka critical, with personality) judges. Very different types of programs…As concerns Lara, she has gotten great renown for her manner and intelligence on the daily show, regardless of this outcome.
In other news, there was another interview to which Lara The Ring Fabian added English subtitles, which can be found at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwQqgGV6iW8
This one was the from March 6, 2020 program ‘'Ca finit bien la semaine', on which Lara discussed: her (at that time) in-progress World Tour; speaking in different languages, including France vs Quebec; her attempts to be with her family via Skype while away on her World Tour; following Lou when she first went by herself to school; her brushes with famous people; and her ‘big garage’ interview – which Lara “owned” . Unknown at the time (and in a sense in the background of the interview) was that the World Tour would soon end due to the pandemic.
Comparing the pandemic then and now in Quebec (from Wikipedia): the first concerts in Quebec were cancelled due to Covid the same month as Lara’s interview, March of 2020. By the beginning of April that year, the 7 day average was 467 new cases per day. As of Oct. 1 of this year, the 7-day average is 628 new cases per day. [For perspective, the peak on Jan 1, 2021 was 2800 new cases per day]. The big difference is the number of deaths; for the week of March 30,2020 there were 200 deaths; by the week of April 6,2020 there were 460. For the week ending Sept. 27, 2021 there were 34 (the vaccination effect, primarily). This has led to the following announcement (https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/quebec-theatres-to-operate-at-full-capacity-1.5606573):
---------------------------
Quebec theatres to operate at full capacity
MONTREAL -- Quebec will lift capacity restrictions on venues and events with assigned seating, Health Minister Christian Dube said Thursday, but he warned that the situation is still fragile and further relaxations won't come until after October.
The new rules, which start Oct. 8, apply to venues such as cinemas, theatres, arenas and stadiums, and they will permit Montreal's Bell Centre to be at full capacity for the Canadiens' first NHL home game on Oct. 16 against the New York Rangers. The arena had previously been limited to about one-third of its capacity, or 7,500 people.
"Good news for hockey fans, it's good news for the economy, it's good news for culture, I think it's good news for everybody," Dube told reporters. "Quebecers have paid a high price over the last year and a half and we said when you would be vaccinated, you could have some benefits, those are the benefits they were expecting."
Anyone attending events at those venues will have to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask, except when eating or drinking, Dube added.
The change only applies to organized events, and a 10-person indoor gathering limit inside private homes remains in effect. Dube said other restrictions will likely not be lifted unless the COVID-19 situation remains stable after October.
"We can't declare victory, because we have to remain careful, the month of October will also have its challenges," Dube said. "On one hand, I'm saying, bravo, very good September, a huge success, but we know there will be more indoor contacts during the month of October."
Gatherings for Thanksgiving and Halloween parties are part of the "October challenge," public health director Dr. Horacio Arruda told reporters.
"We now are going to have inside parties, which were, most of the time, outside during the summer," he said. "This could have an impact on transmission, because these will be contacts where there is higher risk of transmission."
Events such as meetings and graduation ceremonies, which are currently subject to a limit of 250 people, will also be free of capacity restrictions -- if participants are fully vaccinated and wear masks while seated.
Dr. Leighanne Parkes, an infectious disease specialist and microbiologist at Montreal's Jewish General Hospital, said increasing capacity at venues for vaccinated individuals is a "measured risk."
"These individuals are very well protected against severe disease, they have a good level of protection even against the most virulent variant we have today, in terms of symptomatic infection," she said in an interview Thursday. "And we're going to layer on top of that other types of infection control practices, like masking, like making sure we have assigned seating."
In addition to limiting contacts, assigned seating makes contact tracing easier, Parkes said.
Meanwhile, Quebec's Public Security Department said police forces across the province have issued 34 tickets related to the province's vaccine passport system. Proof of vaccination has been required to access a range of non-essential businesses and services in the province since Sept. 1, but fines ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 were not issued during an initial two-week grace period.
Quebec reported 655 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus Thursday.

Assuming things don’t deteriorate, this is good news for Lara’s concerts in the province next spring – and for the Star Academie shows beginning in February.
