Lara left the following picture on her Instagram site this past week,
with the caption “When I miss my Italy, I put my head in my vegetable garden and make a beautiful fresh tomato and basil sauce 🌿 then I put my nose in one of the best ice creams in the world , Coaticook ice cream !!! All accompanied by Amarena cherries 😋
I share with you ...”
This answers the question of whether Lara spent any time at all this summer with family in Sicily; staying home was obviously the safer thing to do, and she probably had to pay attention to the state of her vocal chords. Her comments here also clarified that the garden she referred to in her previous Instagram post [
Some fans have noted that they would prefer Lara talk to them about singing and albums rather than growing food in her garden, though it does help to advertise Lara’s next big project, her book with recipes due out in November. Lara and her people did have two posts that were more musically related. One advertised the appearance of the “Lara” documentary on TVA and TVA+ this past Monday night (https://www.facebook.com/ReseauTVA/videos/828304994540496).
In the other (which would be off-topic except Lara recommended it, and what it led to), she gave a shout out to the Spaniard Rocio Vadillo, who describes herself as a “Dancer, singer, flamenco teacher, actress and clown”. Lara’s comment was “Beautiful and talented Rocio, I share her song and vision. What a beautiful artist in every way. I love this woman 🙏🏻”
Lara also provided a link to her youtube video

which comes with the following (youtube) caption: “Between the boxes is the story of the people we don't want to see and all the questions we will never ask.
Chiíto is a musical project that I have had in mind for almost fifteen years. It is here, in Montreal, where I finally have the pleasure of making my creations a reality, accompanied by extraordinary musicians and people. Written in my notebooks, my songs have traveled everywhere with me. Leaving from my dear Andalusia, they then took the road to Madrid, Paris to finally arrive in Montreal. Now is the time to share them with all of you. You have the right not to appreciate them. However, I ask you to take care of my heart, for it is present in every note. Music and lyrics: Rocío Vadillo. Contact: rociolerele@gmail.com.
There were numerous replies; Rocio herself answered, writing “Thank you, my Lara.” Most interestingly, Jeremy Jems Lamb wrote, “Maybe you don't know it, but, although your music in French, English, Italian or Russian I love it and it has accompanied me since almost 30 years .. 28 exactly… (God how time passes .. haha) .. what I lack is your voice in Spanish… the 2000 songs are not enough… I hope so much that you will sing in Spanish again, received so many messages from your Spanish-speaking audience that they want your return in this language… and why not collaborate with these diamonds like Niña Pastori, Vanesa Martín Oficial Pablo Alboran Malú or the great and talented Luz Casal ... and so many artists close to your sensibility with incredible voices and limitless talents ... sing in Spanish again Reina por fa 😉❣️🥰🎶🦋.”
“Les Papillons Blancs” FB site then posted a link to live performances of Lara singing in Spanish, showing a medley of parts of songs from various occasions, at

It would seem to be true that Lara has left a big potential audience untapped, except, primarily, for the Spanish songs she included on the European version of her first English album. One explanation for her reluctance can be found in a story about what happened when that album was being made. Lara was not at all confident that she could sing songs in Spanish properly, and didn’t want to make a fool of herself. She had to be talked into including them. On the other hand, a relevant personal story: I was at one point walking through a neighborhood with a considerable Spanish speaking population in an English speaking country. As I walked past a ‘bodega’, I was surprised ('shocked') to hear Lara’s singing of ‘Quedate’ coming out of the radio. I went in and asked about it. The store owner said everybody loved that song, but nobody knew anything about the singer. So, yes, it would appear that an opportunity exists, but, as we know, it would seem to exist in the English speaking world as well, and that has not been properly exploited either. But at least she has made a few albums in that language.
Returning the musical career that she has emphasized, here is the 2022 “Best of World Tour” ‘on the continent’ as it stands so far…

To this one needs to add Lara’s concerts next June in Quebec, (now) three in Montreal and one in Quebec City. You may remember that Lara has already had at least one earlier “Best of” tour, back in 2013 [when, for example, she has airplane trouble in Russia, www.youtube.com/watch?v=20uKmaSt1mA], and also a ‘greatest hits’ tour in 2015 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lara_Fabian#Tours_&_residencies). It will be interesting to compare the song list of those tours with what will be coming up next year. One would expect a great deal of overlap, but it would be nice if at least a few of the more recent songs made their way to the stage. And, if by any chance Lara does have a new French album out by that time (probably unlikely), it would be a good chance to showcase it as well, without having to arrange a completely new set of dates.
All of these upcoming concerts are also listed on Lara’s URL (larafabian.com), with links to get tickets if they’re still available. A little more work has been done on that site; there’s now a relatively brief review of Lara’s career (in a section called “in regards to”, a creative title), including a recounting of most of the different albums and when they came out (not all the albums are there, e.g., neither of the Mme. Zhivago albums is included). And it’s up to date (the Lockdown Sessions album is mentioned), so somebody’s paying attention.
Later this week the first auditions for next year’s Star Academie will take place in Montreal; whether Lara will be there has not been announced. There’s a nice video encouraging people to take a chance and audition, featuring last year’s candidates, at www.facebook.com/watch/?v=935601593698395.
Interesting pictures/videos of the week: once more Lara (The Ring) Fabian added English subtitles to one of the videos involving Lara, her 2012 Showcase in Paris…

Nice to see it again.
Finally, from the Lara Fabian America FB site, a photo of Lara with a direct gaze,

The caption they used was “Good Morning” – which we could then use as well.
Originally Lara had this message accompanying that picture:
“A little thought for you ...
Thank you for all your messages ...
Take care of yourself ... 💕”
And that makes a good closing message here, too.
