In honor of Lara’s upcoming book release, her Instagram picture from this past week, at
has the caption, “From my garden ... vegetables that taste like heaven.”
And they look heavenly as well . Of course, we don’t know exactly where that garden is…since we know Lara also has a home in Sicily, where it would be even easier to grow such vegetables…but her summer holiday plans remain in the mode of speculation…
Otherwise, the main news concerned the actual upcoming date of the 20th anniversary of the album release of “Nue”. The ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ site had the following comment: “In 1 week will be the anniversary of the release of Lara Fabian's ′′ Nue ′′ album. Indeed, the album was released on August 28, 2001 under the Polydor label. In this album, between strength and emotion, you could find the singles "J'y crois encore", "Immortelle", "Aimer déjà", "Bambina" et "Tu es mon autre", the famous duo from Lara with her countryman. Throughout the week, and like on some other fan pages, find clips and stories from the album "Nue" celebrating its 20 years this year. An album that was very important in Lara's career and made fans heart capsize.”
And as an example, they provide a link to Lara’s introducing “J’y crois encore” on the show “Hit Machine” in France, in 2001, visible at www.youtube.com/watch?v=87L_0HLj8r8.
Similarly, the ‘Lara Fabian Lockdown Sessions’ FB site is rediscovering each of the titles, and presented the link for a live performance of ‘Je suis mon coeur’, Live at the Olympia, in 2003, available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKgTLskigls.
And the ‘LaraFabianweb’ FB site put on the well-known link for “Tu es mon autre” with Maurane at www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IcRR4bjTDQ
Other fan sites have also put on links to their favorite versions of the ‘Nue’ songs. If the aim is to find live performances of all the songs, good luck in finding one for “Le roi est une femme”, a beautiful song that doesn’t get nearly the recognition it merits.
And more on that topic: the ‘Coeur de lumiere’ FB site noted the following: “That's it, the double vinyl collector from the album "Nue" arrives in the mailboxes and it's gorgeous 😍. Have you received yours? If you haven't bought it yet go order it, even without platinum it remains a collector object just beautiful...
Don't forget that the CD is also in reedition.

Undoubtedly ‘Nue’ deserves all the credit and remembrance it can get. Will there be any later album of hers that will be treated in such a celebratory manner on its 20th anniversary? I think that is unlikely. (If you have an opinion on that, please feel free to voice it in the comments). It’s not as if the later albums lack quality, but they didn’t seem to have that special combination of complexity, emotion and popularity (though one wonders if part of that is because Lara doesn’t sing her later songs on tour very much). As we know, it was her last album with Rick Allison, which is probably not a coincidence...and makes the hope that they will once again do something together more palpable, given Rick’s mysterious comments last week.
In that regard, Rick has “composed and prepared” a melody which he posted on Instagram and that he says “only a voice can bring to you...”. It can be heard at
(Thanks to the Lara Fabian Lockdown Sessions FB site for the link). Regardless of what you actually think of the melody, it is again intriguing that he is offering it up; at the least perhaps he is also taking advantage of the 20 year anniversary of Nue, for which he can also take credit.
As noted previously (in July), the Star Academie show with Lara as director is up for a Gemini award (Prix Gémeaux). Presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, the Prix Gémeaux “recognize the best of the small screen in Quebec.” The winners will be revealed on September 19, at 8 p.m., during a ceremony hosted by Véronique Cloutier and broadcast live on ICI Télé.
Winners in the main categories are selected by voting members of the Academie Canadienne du cinema et de la television (https://m.facebook.com/AcademieCdn/ ). [The Prix Gemeaux FB site is at m.facebook.com/prixgemeaux/]. There’s no guarantee of a win, but this is a big show for TVA, and one wouldn’t really want to bet against them…
However, there is also a “public prix gemeaux” category (called the “Cogeco Fund Public's Prix Gemeaux”). As noted by the ‘Lara Fabian Coeur de lumiere’ FB site, one can choose three shows to vote for. That could then include the documentary ‘Lara’ as well as the ‘Star Academie’. That voting can be done at prixdupublicfondscogeco.ca
Here are the rules: “Online voting is open to everyone without geographic restrictions. To be valid, participants' votes must come from a valid email address and IP address. Limit of one vote per person in the first step and one vote per person per day in steps 2 and 3. To count the vote, the person must have validated their email address from the link sent to each participant at their first vote. Votes, at each stage, must be received within the time slots determined by the Academy. To qualify for step 1, the show must have been broadcast between 1st May 2020 and 30 April 2021.”
I went through the process, which is not difficult, and voted for “Lara”, and then both the ‘daily’ and ‘variety’ versions of the Star Academie. One has to search a bit for them, but those choices are there.
Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week:
The ‘Lara Fabian Connecting People’ site has a nice picture of Lara as ‘director’ for the Star Academie, available at

This is in conjunction with their discussion of voting for her show at the Gemini awards.
Lara the Ring Fabian has added another wonderful classic interview with English subtitles, this one from “Sucre Sale” a few years back, available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR7yPhmL7dI
As the host says at the end “thank you for your openness and authenticity”…very appropriate.
In the same vein the site also put, with English subtitles, Lara’s discussion about her depression, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1dPdu7yGXo
These two interviews are two sides of the emotional spectrum…but their commonality is Lara's extreme honesty.
‘Les papillons blancs’ posted on their Instagram site a portion of a very special version of “Tu es mon autre” from “Un prelude de Bach”, available at
Alternate versions of Lara’s songs are often very interesting.
Lara is still out of the public eye, and it is still August, so one cannot expect much in the way of publicity on her part in the coming week, although some recognition of Nue’s anniversary on August 28th might happen. In compensation, as you can see, fan sites are attempting to fill in the gap. We’ll see whether this ends when the month ends. Stay safe everybody,
David
