Another quiet week for Lara, publicly at least. Her announcement last week about her book release has gotten a nice hearing, with most people referring to it as a cookbook, although Lara made it clear it is more than that, with many stories from her past. An example of the press coverage from Belgium can be found at (https://www.cheriebelgique.be/article/13828/good-news-lara-fabian-va-sortir-un-livre-de-cuisine). Here’s what it says (excuse the repetition of Lara’s words from last week in this article and the next):
-------------------------------------------------------------
GOOD NEWS: LARA FABIAN IS GOING TO RELEASE A COOKBOOK!
After the song, it is in the kitchen that Lara Fabian is about to reveal her talents to us.
3 years after the release of her album Papillon, Lara Fabian is about to unveil her new project. For this one, forget the music because you will discover her second passion: cooking .
It is also on social networks that she announced the upcoming release of a project unlike any other ... At the beginning of July, she implied that it was something surprising: "I am preparing something special for you, a little surprise just for you. I am currently working with my teams to organize it and I look forward to sharing this news with you ."
It is now done since Lara Fabian will release a cookbook very soon. A book that will include all of his favorite recipes discovered around the world. Recipes to make your mouth water but also to tell all the beautiful stories that accompany them.
“Since my earliest childhood, I have had the chance to experience the gift of transmission constantly and almost in spite of myself. Indeed, my grandmother, my aunts and my mom told me every day how to take care of others, by combining their simplest gestures of love with the preparation of meals. Eating with my parents Pierre and Luisa was like sitting down with your buttocks in the snow, mulled wine in your hand, protected by a single sun and warmed by a home-made brazier. No one identified with anything, but everyone found their happiness there."
The book will be called “Je passe à table” : double reference to the kitchen and to that part of herself that she will transmit, differently, to her audience.
For info : The book will be available in Quebec on November 3, but it is possible to pre-order it today. For Europe, the release is scheduled for 2022, more details to come.
---------------------------------------------
And for the audience in France, from Charts in France (http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Lara-Fabian/news-118429.html):
----------------------------------------
Lara Fabian will release her first cookbook, "Je passe à table"
Surprise! Lara Fabian gave up music for a while to devote herself to her other passion, cooking. The singer announces the release in the fall of her first cookbook, "Je passe à table", to pay tribute to a family tradition.
Last year, to celebrate with dignity the symbolic milestone of 50 years, Lara Fabian was happy to embark on a world tour which was to cross the United States, Canada, France, Switzerland and Belgium. Unfortunately, with the pandemic which brought the entertainment industry to a complete halt, the Belgian-Canadian artist could not honor all her promises of celebration, many dates having been postponed including her concerts in Marseille, Lyon. or Paris. Never mind! The interpreter of "Nos coeurs a la fenetre", who recently suffered from a problem with the vocal cords, does not intend to let herself be defeated. She has just announced the replacement for her amputated "50 World Tour", which will take place in 12 concerts in France next year. Lara Fabian will perform in particular on the legendary stage of the Olympia on October 3 and 4, 2022 to sing her most emblematic hits, from "Je t’aime" to "J’y crois encore".
"Come on, I'm going to the table"
But that's not all! During this announcement made in early July on her Instagram account, Lara Fabian foreshadowed other projects. "I am preparing something special for you, a little surprise just for you ... I am currently working with my teams to organize it and I can't wait to share this news with you ... Thank you all for your patience and your understanding”, she wrote with a lot of mystery, leaving her fans in suspense. We now know the nature of this surprise: Lara Fabian is going to publish her first cookbook. "Since my earliest childhood, I have had the good fortune to experience the gift of transmission steadily and almost in spite of myself. Indeed, my grandmother, my aunts and my mom told me every day how to take care of others, by combining their simplest gestures of love with the preparation of meals” testifies the artist of Italian origin by disclosing the cover of this book entitled "Je passe à table", where she invites us, on her porch, to come and dine at her place with a smile on her lips and a utensil in hand.
For Lara Fabian, cooking is as much a family affair as it is precious memories. “Eating with my parents Pierre and Luisa was like sitting down with your buttocks in the snow, mulled wine in your hand, protected by a single sun and warmed by a home-made brazier. No one identified with anything, but everyone found their happiness there. I, late at night, sated, and lying in the little room on the surface of our 700 square feet, I heard them. In the wee hours, they still remake the world, and prepare me for this great journey that was going to be my life. These moments, I will never forget them "continues the singer who, in the privacy of her personal life, perfected this second passion after singing: "Over the course of my countless tribulations and moves, I have reproduced these gestures of love and this unusual lifestyle, through the table, taking my own revolutions there.” Thus, the book "Je passe à table" is inspired by "all cultures and all countries" that Lara Fabian has had the chance to cross during her career. "Here is a tour of 'my world', in cooking recipes that bear providence and in funny stories, never before told" she concludes on an enthusiastic note.
Already available for pre-order on her official website, the cookbook "Je passe à table" by Lara Fabian will be released on November 3, 2021 in Quebec. Anxious to share her culinary know-how with as many people as possible, the artist specifies that an outing in Europe "will also take place in 2022".
---------------------------------------------------
Lara’s Instagram announcement of the book (
) has so far received over 20,000 ‘likes’, which is double what her instagram posts usually get; if that is any indication, the book may end up being a best seller.
Speaking of Instagram posts, an intriguing one by Rick Allison can be found [thanks to the Lara Fabian Lockdown Sessions FB site for the link] at
His accompanying message reads, “Back in the studio for an amazing voice I know by heart! #diva #legend 🙏🎤🎶”
Of course, the natural response to that is to assume he’s referring to Lara, and one can see from the responses on that page that most of the fans thought so (or hoped so) too. One could make a case for it: Lara’s acknowledgment on the Star Academie that it was her older songs (the ones mostly done with Rick) that got the largest positive response; her appreciation of their impact when played with a big orchestra behind her; and her subsequent interview with the press saying that her next album would be a return to her older way of singing/writing. She also seems to have worked through her various issues with him, and, of course, she is now back to being a Quebec resident, where he can be found as well. Nevertheless, all of the reasoning in the world will not make it so if both parties are not of the same mind frame, so until we hear it from Lara, it remains speculation.
“Lara The Ring Fabian” continues to put on youtube older videos of Lara was on while adding English subtitles. The most notable recent one is from “La vraie nature” (2018), and can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=eImt1qpLdeo
As is noted, “in these clips, Lara discusses the early years of her career, her departure from Quebec, and Rick Allison” (continuing the Rick Allison theme). [To get the English subtitles, click on the ‘cc’, turn on subtitles and choose English]. As one can see, on the program, Lara notes that she had “lost Rick” on March 17, 2003, and that she didn’t speak to him again for “13 years, 6 months, 13 days” . Then they play for Lara a recording Rick made for her, singing “Je t’aime”. Lara called it a “huge gift”, and then added, “What matters to me the most is that there’s no more anger, no more sorrow, no more resentment or hate.”
Is it a coincidence that this was posted on youtube the same week that Rick put his post on Instagram? Kismet, anyone?
In Star Academie News, which is always at least borderline off topic, there is the following report (https://www.journaldequebec.com/2021/08/16/gregory-charles-de-retour-a-star-academie):
-------------------------------------
Gregory Charles back to "Star Académie"!
“Star Académie” will once again be able to count on one of its pillars for its next edition, at the beginning of 2022. The singing teacher Gregory Charles returns to class and will accompany a new cohort of academics, after having already brought his know-how to the 2012 and 2021 versions of the popular show.
He who has the knack for creating memorable musical numbers and the ear to detect the slightest peculiarities of a voice tells us how he sees this new chapter of the adventure. Recall that Lara Fabian has also confirmed that she will return to her director's seat next season, and that Marc Dupré will be the host of Sunday varieties.
The auditions for “Star Académie 2022” will begin on September 10, by appointment. See Staracademie.ca for information.
Gregory, you're coming back to “Star Académie”, congratulations! First, quite simply, why did you agree to be part of the adventure again?
“I love to teach. I think it's a job that I do well and that is useful. All this knowledge, all this acquired experience, it helps me in the exercise of my profession, but it never serves more or better than in a teaching context, whether for the thousands of students of the Gregory Academy or for "Star Académie". And then, "Star Académie" is the opportunity to work with very good young talents and to see them progress quickly in the most exciting and efficient context possible. We learn, we work, we perform on Sunday. We are going forward."
What did you mainly take away from the 2021 edition? We saw you there very emotional on occasion. Did you learn things yourself?
“That talent does not discriminate. It is found everywhere. In some who have great ambitions, in others who do not. Among the wealthy as well as the less fortunate. Our last edition showed that music makes people more beautiful, more optimistic, more generous. Particularly in times of health crisis, but also at all times. All these candidates that we have come to know during the last season, they are all new messengers of happiness. The journey they have taken from a starting point to an ending point is the inspiration it takes for millions of people who, too, must find the courage to surpass themselves. What did I learn? I learn every day about humans and what drives their choices and how we can help them find who they are, and who they will become. I also learn every day about the creation process and the link between creating music and sharing the basic emotions that drive us. ”
You are now one of the deans of the "Star Ac" team. What advice would you give to new professors who will join the team in 2022?
“In terms of hockey, we are not there to 'score', but to pass! And you have to think that, even if the series lasts only a few months, what we do with the candidates, it lasts a lifetime. For the rest, you have to give everything you have.”
And what advice would you give to young people who are about to audition to be part of the next cohort?
“You shouldn't try to be better than others. You have to try, by hearing, but also every day, to be as good as you are able to be. When you are able to do that consistently, then you can start hoping to surpass yourself. And that's what is inspiring.”
Did your beautiful Julia (9 years old) get carried away by the “Star Ac” frenzy last year? Did she watch the show, did she have favorites among the candidates?
“Julia really liked 'Star Ac'. She watched almost everything, both daily and Sunday. She had crushes. She was disappointed to see some candidates leave. On Monday mornings, on my way to school, I often heard: "Daddy, why did you let him go?" I would text her sometimes during Sunday galas. I suggested that she notice this or that in the performance that was coming after the break. I wanted this experience to be useful to her too. She also counted the number of years it will take before she is eligible ..."

Wise counsel from a coach who seemed very professional in everything he did on the show.
Interesting photo/video(s) of the week: first, from the ‘pictures’ section of Lara’s Facebook page (posted again; it was originally posted there several months ago):
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4673100752700060&set=t.100044229079363&type=3
with the caption, “A DREAM AND A FANTASY THAT I COULD REALIZE THANKS TO THE GREVIN MUSEUM”. Although not completely obvious in the photo, the picture of Lara is of her statue at the museum. A picture of the real Lara with the statue can be found at

and then there’s the following text from Le Parisien, in 1998: “Revelation of the 1998 Victories of Music, the Quebec singer Lara Fabian has a new consecration. She is now entering the Musée Grévin in Paris. The ceremony will take place at 11 am in her presence. Her bust was sculpted by a Canadian artist, Michèle Leïser. He arrived yesterday, directly from Montreal. A 27-year-old young woman with the energy and ambition of a Celine Dion, Lara Fabian is currently experiencing a meteoric rise.”
If you haven’t done so already, check out the other photos Lara has included there, a somewhat eccentric group.
Then, two from the Lara Fabian America FB site, the first definitely fitting the saying “pretty as a picture”
www.facebook.com/larafabianamerica/photos/a.390576794773579/1187660741731843/
and the second quite alluring,
www.facebook.com/larafabianamerica/photos/a.390576794773579/1185077991990118/
This site tries to put on at least one picture of Lara every day, often with comments wishing people positive things (e.g., good morning, have a great day, enjoy the weekend, etc.). Very nice of them to raise people’s spirits, and pictures of Lara are a perfect way to do it.
The Lara Fabian Costa Rica FB site recently provided the video of Lara performing “Mama Maya” from the Moscow televised concert some years back, in honor of Mother’s Day in Costa Rica (which is August 15). It can be found at:
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianCostaRica/videos/364290271095071
In one of the great ‘injustices’, Lara did not include this beautiful song on the "Mademoiselle Zhivago” CD release for the French audience; fortunately, enough people still keep it alive, from the original Russian album release, and this video.
In the midst of the vacation month of August, and with her vocal health considerations, our expectations are low for public appearances by Lara. Perhaps we’ll hear a little more about Rick Allison’s musical activity, and hopefully it will include Lara. And maybe if she is on vacation, she’ll upload some pictures. Stay safe everybody,
David
