A generally quite week for Lara, publicly, though she did have one substantial media opportunity, appearing on the radio show “Diomande Le Programme” (DLP) (https://podcast.ausha.co/diomande-l-programme/dlp-s01-ep13?fbclid=IwAR3AJYoAkF1hKgx1zW6iHaWNLNJaDZhZs5RM-g0kaUDP20segadck--idYM). The interview lasted about 10 minutes. Here are some of the interesting points:
**The interviewer started out by noting that she sings in 10 languages, and wondered whether she has a favorite. Lara gave her usual answer, “that it was not necessary to choose and that you could have an emotion related to a language or another and in fact, everything really depends on the feeling and the sentiment that I have and that corresponds to a language more than another…”. She continued by saying that writing is more complicated, and that she really lives her life in only 4 languages. For the others, it is a matter of knowing what the intention of the writer was, and why he wrote in that language.
**They talked about the continuing power of Lara’s voice and she indicated there is genetics involved, but also feeling. How she was almost a coloratura soprano, and now she’s a soprano. In that regard they also discussed the media bashing she got from the press for her singing, and Lara said, “I learned to look at things with a little height with a grain of salt in what is the opinion of someone and not a reality, my journey”.
**When asked whether she preferred “The Voice” or the “Star Academie”, Lara first was diplomatic, indicating that what she preferred was transmission of her knowledge. But then she acknowledged she had more time to do that on the Star Academie.
**When asked what was her favorite program of all time, she mentioned the documentary of Jacques Cousteau, “both because he was capable of intensity, like how can you deliver information as nourishing it can be, but also I'm in love with my mother, I was born of a mother Cecile who comes from a town where I grew up by the sea.” Other favorites mentioned were Placido Domingo, Michel Legrand and his piano, Luciano Pavarotti (and Japanese cartoons).
**Lara finished by singing a beautiful a capella portion of “Je t’aime”, to which the host responded most graciously.
BTW, a little about the station she was on. Having been "launched on Monday March 4, 1996 on the radio stations of RFO Martinique, created and hosted by David Diomandé, "DLP!" is a magazine of information and entertainment Media having crossed the time and the times. "DLP!" is a strong brand, having largely participated in audiovisual and artistic communication overseas and in France." As noted on numerous sites, Lara has a guest appearance on a youtube video ‘Profs in Service’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMtqsthkMis) for her role as ‘directrice’ on the Star Academie. She appears starting at about the 3 minute mark, offering the hard working teachers encouragement. The description accompanying the video reads, “It is not always easy to teach in high school ... Teachers are sometimes a little at their wit's end!” As we'll see below, this also sometimes applied to the coaches on Star Academie. 😊
Otherwise, on her websites Lara advertised her coming appearance on the Canada summer festival “Canadian Lights” on July 1, e.g.,

As noted last week, given that it will be televised nation-wide, it will be an opportunity for the rest of Canada to reacquaint themselves with her – it’s not clear that they even know she moved back to Canada; she has not really given any concerts in English speaking Canada since then.
Some Star Academie news, though not directly concerned with Lara, but with Gregory Charles. The article appeared in (https://www.mondedestars.com/nouvelles/gregory-charles-aborde-son-retour-pour-la-prochaine-saison-de-star-academie); here’s the translation:

Gregory Charles addresses his comeback for the next season of Star Academy
The more the weeks go by, the more we begin to know the first details of the next season of Star Academy. The show, which will return in 2022, has already confirmed the return of its director, Lara Fabian, as well as the return of the Maplewood Manor as the location of the Academy. If we already know that we will not be able to count on the return of Patrice Michaud to host, the future of Gregory Charles is not yet all mapped out for this next season.
In an interview given to the magazine Échos Vedettes, the singer briefly addressed his return for the next edition of the show. It will therefore be understood that he does not wish to move forward yet and that Gregory Charles is not yet sure of relaunching himself in the adventure.
“Star Académie is an exhausting wonder. As an experience, it's exhausting and wonderful at the same time for someone like me, who loves to teach. We work with young people, and the results will be seen the following weekend. They're progressing in a phenomenal way, but it's exhausting, because it's non-stop. I went through 16 weeks of permanent work. Many of us have spent our nights, evenings and mornings preparing for this show”, he told Échos Vedettes magazine .
A few weeks ago, in the same magazine, the director Lara Fabian explained how she felt about this adventure and on her return to the academy.
“It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my entire career, one of the most nourishing and the most revealing of where I want to go in my life, which is transmission. This gift that has been given to me to participate in Star Académie is a pivotal moment for me."
If the beautiful team of teachers could still be assembled, we already know that we will have to find a new person as host. In a post on social media, Patrice Michaud explained his decision not to return in 2022 to focus on his album and his tour.
“This fall, I'm releasing a new album and will be touring again for several months. No need to tell you how much I'm waiting for this moment. For this reason, I will not be returning to the hosting of Star Académie next year.
It's a personal decision.
I would like to thank the loyal viewers, TVA and all the Star Ac teams (there are many of them) for their professionalism, their madness and their generosity. I can't believe what we did together! Thank you for the inspiring academics, I love you very much! Thank you Jean-Philippe for your confidence and your taste for risk. What an adventure"!
People from Quebec, we'll meet again soon.
We have time to catch up."

Gregory Charles' comments provide perspective on what went into Lara’s decision to return, which we know was made with some deliberation. For her, obviously, in the end it was worth it. That may not be the case for the other coaches.
The ‘Lara Fabian Multimedia’ site has been ‘upscaling’ some of the classic older videos of Lara. Of special note is there newest addition, her duet with Mario Frangoulis on “All Alone Am I”, at

You may remember that this was shortly after Lou was born, so Lara is a little heavier than one is used to seeing her. The version of “Tu t’en vas”, also recently added, is similarly worth seeing, at

That leads quite naturally into the interesting photo(s) of the week: The ‘Lara Fabian Hungarian Fans’ FB site has a picture of Lara holding implements not normally associated with her 🙂, at

This is the first official week of summer, and Lara’s next obvious media appearance will not be for another 9 days, so the coming week may also be light, publicly – though popping up on one show or another, as was the case this past week, is always a possibility. There was no additional rescheduling of any of the postponed 50 World Tour concerts – and the ones noted in last week’s News Update have still not been announced by her – but that is also a continuing possibility. Enjoy the warmer weather (for those of you in the Northern Hemisphere), while staying safe everybody. David
