Lara resumed interacting directly with fans this past week. There was a video of her exercising, at
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianVideos/videos/308379267029195/
In addition, she provided a set of five photos of those exercises, at
(also available on her Facebook page)
with the accompanying caption, “My amazing coach, Josée Lavigueur, went on vacation and I'm consoling myself with his DVD and my Fitt zone !!! We're not giving up!💪💪💫💫💫 # Sport # Fitness # Happy # Strong.
This followed a rather upbeat video from Lara, praising the virtues of exercise – “Sport is Life” - to allow one to escape from the doldrums of the last number of months, and especially the problems that deconfinement have been causing her. It can be found at
with the caption:
"Hello everyone,
I leave you a little message to tell you a little about what I'm doing at the moment ... thanks to the incredible @joseelavigueur my days are sporty and do me so much good for my body and soul ...💪💕💫"
This was a message of courage and hope, and people responded by saying that just seeing Lara smile lifted up their day. An example is this one: “Rainor Sunshine: Happy to have you back in shape and with a smile 🥰 For sure sport is beneficial both for physical and moral health.. endorphins boost our morale 😉 You said you experienced lockdown like a badly wrapped gift.. What happened next?? Difficulties like many of us getting back to the ′′normal′′ life that isn't really done with this sword of Damocles over our heads yet??...”
Lara has noted previously that deconfinement has been causing her difficulty – what is it that is safe to do, now that one is allowed to be out and about? There have been close to 60,000 cases of the virus in Quebec, with some 29,000 being in Montreal. The number in the province keeps growing by about 170 per day, which is quite small compared to what we’re seeing elsewhere, and so far deconfinement seems justified.
On her part, undoubtedly getting back into shape improves her mood, and, in addition, Lara has a special need for it if she is to withstand the rigors of her upcoming concerts in France. Of course that raises the question once again of the likelihood of them taking place, now just one month away. The incidence of coronavirus cases has been rising rather steadily in France since the beginning of June, but active cases have started rising more rapidly in the last several weeks, and that has led to rules getting stricter, as discussed in this article at

Stricter rules in parts of France as new coronavirus cases crop up
Several French cities on Thursday announced new face mask requirements and other measures to contain the coronavirus as the number of new cases continues to increase after a long lull, officials said.
The government, anxious to avoid a new outbreak but wary of clamping down too hard during the summer holidays, has stepped up guidance on social distancing as officials report new contagion "clusters" daily.
Face masks are already required in all enclosed public spaces nationwide, including public transport, and in recent days cities have cracked down on mass gatherings of young people in particular.
In the Nord department adjacent to Belgium, the government's top official said "reinforced measures" would be announced Friday, possibly making masks compulsory outdoors, in response to a surge in cases across the border.
The mayor of Saint-Malo, whose walled city has drawn tens of thousands of French tourists who opted to stay in the country for the summer holidays, said masks were now mandatory inside the old city and on the ramparts for everyone aged 11 and over.
"Masks are essential protection for limiting the virus's spread," Mayor Gilles Lurton said, after health authorities said the Ille-et-Vilaine region had 44 new cases on Wednesday alone.
Starting Friday, masks will be required in open-air markets in Orleans, central France, and after 9:00 pm (1900 GMT) along the Loire river, where crowds of people have been turning out nightly.
'Festive aspirations'
The mayors of Bayonne and the nearby ritzy Atlantic resort of Biarritz also announced that face masks will be compulsory in their city centers starting next week.
Biarritz will furthermore ban access to its beaches at night to prevent parties being held there.
"If I understand the festive aspirations of young people in the face of the closure of discos, it is necessary to protect these young people and also the parents or grandparents who host them during their holidays," said Biarritz mayor Maider Arosteguy.
France's health ministry on Wednesday reported 15 new COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall toll to 30,238 since the outbreak began.
While far below levels seen at the peak of the crisis, the number of new daily cases has been above 1,000 for several days, and the "R" rate of viral transmission has risen to 1.3 nationwide -- meaning 10 infected people are infecting 13 others on average.
Health Minister Olivier Veran, visiting a mask distribution operation in a Paris suburb Wednesday, urged people to wear masks "if you're in the street full of people, and not sure about being able to keep a safe distance."
Digital Affairs Minister Cedric O, meanwhile, told CNews television on Thursday that only 2 million to 2.5 million people had downloaded the government's StopCovid contact tracing app, which uses cellphones to alert people if they cross paths with COVID-19 carriers.
Critics say the app has been a flop since its long-delayed launch in June, as tens of millions of people would need to activate the system to be useful for containing a second infection wave that could again overwhelm hospitals.
"I admit it's a little difficult to give results now, it's still too early," O said.
"But I think that if the epidemic resurges, we won't be unhappy to have this in our toolbox."

Lara’s upcoming concerts are in Le Cannet, Lyon, Marseilles and Paris. What the situation will be in those locations in one month’s time is obviously anybody’s guess, but the trend is not moving in the right direction, and August is a time when people normally relax, not follow strict rules. By the beginning of September, it would not be surprising if things are worse…
Without much focused news, the media in Quebec (and elsewhere) are having to settle for old stories. A case in point, the following article in this week’s Quebec Hebdo: (https://www.quebechebdo.com/insolites/221719/lara-fabian-et-son-accent-quebecois-causent-tout-un-emoi-sur-ce-plateau/):

Lara Fabian and her Quebecois accent are causing quite a stir on this set!
If you follow the career of singer Lara Fabian at all, you have probably heard her say many times how much Quebec is dear to her eyes and to her heart.
It is therefore in front of a young Quebec participant of La Voix, in France, a program where Lara Fabian is a judge, that her accent quickly took over. After all, you can't hide such a sense of belonging!
The other three judges by her side thought it was the perfect time to tease her about her impromptu change in pronunciation. They had a lot of fun the hard way, but obviously these were just friendly jokes.

You may remember that candidate was Margau, who ended up choosing Lara - and ultimately was not happy about it. If you’re wondering why that article appeared this past week when the event happened many months ago…well, it’s for the same reason it appears here – there is little else to talk about with large-scale entertainment still effectively shut down.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: undoubtedly that distinction first goes to the Lara Fabian Connecting People site, with this superb photo of Lou (yes, it is…!)

As they note, how time flies (although for many people currently, it is more likely to crawl).

In the coming week we’ll see if Lara has any further comment on the scheduled shows in France. Otherwise one can’t expect too much, the summer news doldrums being amplified by the current situation. Stay safe everybody.
