The big event for Lara this past week was her appearance on Sunday night on “Une Chance qu'on s'a (2020) ” with among others, Celine Dion, Ginette Reno, etc.
Lara’s performance can be found thanks to the Lara Fabian web site, at
while the official video of the show, the last song, is available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HDgnYRRCP0&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3Ln3gLu8Uwqqa9s8KBJDPHjr8v-NaG4qqk-HtQtVe5RR7-DM2i7_lzc1E
Lara again showed why she is such a great duet singer, being careful not to overpower her co-singer (Louis-Jean Cormier), but still providing vocal strength and clarity. She also did a wonderful job with her small part in the finale, and a nice small job in the opening segment.
As usual TVA blocks transmission of their shows outside of Canada, but for those of you who had the good fortune to see the program, the music/singing was exceptional throughout.
An article on the event can be found at (https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2020/05/10/12-moments-forts-de-une-chance-quon-sa-le-mega-spectacle-100-quebecois-1?fbclid=IwAR13X8StNf1bYdoBP0DvQbp3CkfRxRqPQvWG1U-XraRmYUFr1wggPZoe94k

12 highlights from “Une chance qu’on s’a”, the mega show 100% from Quebec
Sunday evening, Quebeckers were treated to a thrilling television evening.
In “A Chance That We Have”, the greatest voices in Quebec came together (with a distance of two meters of course) to raise funds for Les petits frères and SOS violence conjugale .
Here are some of the most memorable moments:
1. An opening number that begins in full force
2. Charlotte Cardin and Marie-Pierre Arthur sang their admiration for all the mothers
3. Salesbarbes offered us a few Cajun spices
4. Ginette Reno reassured us with her new piece C'est va bien aller
5. Claude Dubois is still in good voice despite the years
6. Passe-Partout, Passe-Carreaux and Passe-Montagne reminded little ones that hygiene is very important
7. Marc Hervieux sang Italy
8. The improbable duo of Louis-Jean Cormier and Lara Fabian was fabulous
9. The Boulay sisters found themselves again after 52 days without seeing each other
10. Gilles Vigneault and Fred Pellerin sang for everyone whose birthday slipped by
11. Marie Denise Pelletier, Marie Carmen and Joe Bocan took us back in time
12. The closing number which includes Jean-Pierre Ferland and Céline Dion made us shiver

The article uses a good picture of Lara from the show, available at:

Watch Céline Dion, Jean-Pierre Ferland and more offer a magnificent version of the song “Une chance qu’on s’a”.”
Question of finishing well the big show “Une chance qu’on s’a”, it was obviously impossible to miss a performance of the song that inspired the title of the show!
The Quebec public was therefore entitled to a very special version of this great music classic, while Jean-Pierre Ferland himself was present, live from his home, to begin the performance.
All the artists present for the television event also took part in this beautiful moment: from Ginette Reno to Lara Fabian, via Alex Nevsky, Ariane Moffatt, Marc Hervieux, 2Frères, Marc Dupré, Guylaine Tanguay, Annie Villeneuve, Charlotte Cardin and more!
The highlight of the show was obviously the special guest who made a brief appearance at the very end of the song, none other than Celine Dion, who, live from her home, interpreted a few lines of the song.
The performance ended with the voices of all these artists united for this great gathering (virtual!) [NOTE - it was an actual gathering, not 'virtual'].
The program “Une chance qu’on s’a” aimed to raise funds to support Les Petits Frères, an organization whose mission is to break the isolation of the elderly, and SOS domestic violence. You can make a donation on the unechancequonsa.quebec website .

And this article featured a picture of the participants of that final song,

VIDEO | Touching tribute to those loved ones killed by the virus
A touching tribute to some of the Quebecers swept away by the COVID-19 was presented on Sunday evening during the major television meeting "Une chance qu’on s’a".
Outstanding dads, moms, grandpa and grandma died from the disease.
Their relatives have given felt testimonies.
The missing honored during the show are Doris McCall, 78, Claude Lafortune, 83, Antonietta Grande, 93, Paul Mak, 68, Roland Lebreux, 53 and Aurèle Bezeau, 92.
The tribute segment was followed by a powerful performance by Lara Fabian and Louis-Jean Cormier who interpreted "S’il suffisait d’aimer”. (If it was enough to love).
--------------------------
That song, as advertised, was from Celine Dion, and was Lara’s offering of a tribute to her.
Unlike many of the other ‘stars at home’ shows, this one featured most of the performers (including Lara) actually together in a studio. It was noted that they would practice social distancing, i.e., six feet (two meters) apart. Though it’s hard to tell distances on a TV show, and while they certainly weren’t right on top of one another, it didn’t look like that separation was always kept, especially for the musicians. Most of the performers were relatively young – an exception, Ginette Reno seemed to be singing from the front of her house (and Celine Dion from her home) – which might have provided some comfort. Hopefully these performances will find their way into more general availability…
It was noted that one of the organizations supported by this program is Les Petits Frères / Province de Québec who work among seniors, and Lara contributed to a video supporting the effort to stop their isolation, noting she had two older relatives who suffered. It can be seen at
www.facebook.com/stoplisolement/videos/244365180021200/
No mention of this event was provided on Lara’s Facebook site – as has happened so often in the past year, the site is treated as an afterthought, even though there are some 1,200,000 followers. They did at least mention Lara’s appearance on ‘Sud Radio’
www.facebook.com/SudRadioOfficiel/videos/257661998761574/
where she presented (from Quebec) a version that had been done live of “Tu es mon autre” (with Jean-Felix Lalanne on the guitar), as part of her tribute to Maurane on the two year anniversary of her death. This was also her theme on another show, where she said:
--------------------------
Two years since you left for another place, but your voice still rings in my ears ... like a breath of peace and love ... We sang so many times together ... You are my Other, forever ...
But today, it is I who sing for you ... my friend, I miss our lives and I love you ... # Maurane
-----------------------------
And then she sang a few bars of Bach’s prelude:

On a more upbeat note, Sunday was Mother’s Day. The larafabianweb site had this picture, (which has on it “larafabian official”), of a (Mother’s Day) card,
www.facebook.com/larafabianweb/photos/a.839662216049315/3661328580549317/?type=3&theater
with the inscription, “The card from my doll, this morning, for Mother’s Day. Thank you my love.”
Otherwise, the week included events that were not happening. Lara’s team had this to say about her scheduled concert (for Sunday) in Belgrade,
--------------------
We wanted to let you know that Lara Fabian will not be playing as scheduled on May 10 at the Stark Arena. We are working hard to find a new date for the show - your ticket will be valid for the new date so please hang on to it. Thank you for your patience and understanding

A pro forma exercise, as no one expected that to take place under the circumstances. Any bets on whether she will perform in Tallinn, Estonia on June 1 as scheduled?
More of a surprise was this announcement in the Journal de Montreal www.journaldemontreal.com/2020/05/05/club-illico--date-de-sortie-repoussee-pour-le-documentaire-lara?fbclid=IwAR26hmc5ouMX3YHJIQAYisKabsh90kv6iYyJ3vQDh3r4k88t2xlNZaQtRS0

Club illico: extended release date for the documentary “Lara”
MONTREAL - The documentary “Lara”, which follows singer Lara Fabian on her recent world tour, obviously interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will not be released until the fall.
Originally, it was on April 30 that the public was to discover the special program produced by Productions Déferlantes and Quebecor Content, directed by Jean-François Fontaine, which must lift the veil over large sections of the privacy of the star and her daily professional life.
"Given the situation, we had to postpone the date of online publication of Lara's documentary until the fall," simply letting Club illico know on Tuesday, adding that the exact new release date is still "to be confirmed".
The camera notably accompanied Lara Fabian during her visits to Moscow, Paris and Quebec as part of her “50 World Tour”, a series of shows that underlined her 50th birthday, which she celebrated at the start of the year, as well as in her house in Montreal.
For the needs of the “Lara” project, the artist presented for the first time her daughter Lou during a Christmas vacation in Sicily with her husband, and drew up a balance sheet of her half-century of life.
-----------------------------
Of course the shows in Quebec have not taken place yet...one wonders whether they will wait to finalize it until they get the chance to film something from them, which would seem to be quite important for the 50 World Tour. Maybe that's why there is no new release date as of yet.
Interesting photos: a sign of the times, from the show Sunday night, courtesy of the Lara Fabian web FB site:

As for Lara’s coming week, it would seem to be more of the same, although there is some relaxation of the home confinement rules in Québec, where to date, there have been 38,469 confirmed cases of COVID‑19, including 3,013 deaths. [This accounts for more than half of the country’s coronavirus cases]. Elementary schools and day care centers outside the Montreal area are reopening. “Students will be subject to physical distancing and frequent handwashing while school officials follow public health guidelines for cleaning and disinfection. Attendance, however, is not mandatory, and two school boards have told The Canadian Press that most of their students will be staying home for now.” It wouldn’t seem to affect Lara's daughter Lou given her home in Montreal. In addition, Quebec is also allowing most retail stores outside Montreal to open; again Lara should not be affected, unless she travels outside the Montreal area.
In France, where the question of the continuation of The Voice is a topic of interest, the French began leaving their homes and apartments for the first time in two months without permission slips as the country began cautiously lifting its strict virus lockdown. In Paris it was reported that crowds packed into some subway lines and train stations despite new social distancing rules. Clothing shops, hair salons and real estate agencies were among businesses large and small reopening, albeit with strict precautions to "keep coronavirus at bay". The Health Minister Olivier Veran held out the possibility of a re-confinement if infections rise again. That may well be the fall-back position in Quebec as well. We are far removed in time from any resumption of Lara’s tour, or pubic appearances, or rescheduling of The Voice, despite this one-off TVA studio presentation. Stay safe everybody!
