Without meaning to be flippant, this past week brought another episode of the Virus and The Voice, the somewhat schizophrenic rendition of Lara’s life. At least the medical, worrying aspect had entertainment as its counterpart.
As the corona virus continues to wreak havoc around the world in a truly terrifying manner, Lara continued to try to offer comfort. First on her Instagram account (also on her FB page) at
Lara had the following statement: “I share with you the video of "Par Amour" made yesterday on the occasion of the special program " Ensemble avec nos soignants” (Together with our caregivers) on @ france2 ... What a touching moment to sing from my home confined to Montreal, for caregivers who work every day to protect us and save lives .... Thank you to them for their kindness, their talents and their unwavering commitment ....
It is essential that each of us respect the instructions ... so that we can find each other better soon .... #RestonsChezNous
Love,
Lara
-------------------------------------
On the video Lara sang a reflective version of Par Amour, formulated and delivered with the depth of the current situation underlying it. Magnificent. Gabriel played the piano in the background.
Then, after a snowstorm in Montreal covered the streets,
Lara had a beautiful reaction: “Under the snow ... Since the Prime Minister’s announcement, of a total halt to Everything ... It’s as if winter had sent us its white light to console and soothe us ...”
Then Lara announced a new song for these circumstances,
with the statement, “NOS CŒURS À LA FENÊTRE"
Hello everyone,
In this troubled period, I want to involve you in a project that is close to my heart .... take the time to help those who need it, those who are on the front line today in this fight against the virus, those who save lives, our lives.
I have written a song for the past few days, "Our Hearts at the Window" which I will be downloading very soon on the platforms ... the proceeds will be donated to several organizations that support caregivers.
To help me illustrate this song, I ask a little bit of you ... so that it takes the form of our united forces towards them ... for that, send me videos of youself, when at 8 p.m. you applaud our caregivers at your windows ... I will select some of your videos ... Remember to film them in landscape mode ... You can send them this evening to teamlarafabian@yahoo.com until Monday, March 30.
In the meantime, take care of yourself, respect the instructions .... and stay at home .... 🙏

Quite a worthwhile effort, and even more so getting her fans involved as well.
In that regard, you may know that there is a program called “Together At Home” in which performers provide a live show from their house on Instagram in support of globalcitizen.org/coronavirus. This is associated with the World Health Organization. The way it seems to work is that one performer suggests the next one. It would be nice if Lara could have somebody suggest and get involved in that.
Finally, on her Facebook site, Lara posted this picture and following indigenous manifesto:

This moment that humanity is going through can now be considered as a portal and a hole.
The decision to fall into the hole or to pass through the portal is up to you.
If they feel sorry about the problem and consume the information 24 hours a day, with little energy, nervous all the time, with pessimism, they will fall into the hole.
But if you take this opportunity to look at yourself, rethink life and death, take care of yourself and others, you will walk through the gate.
Take care of your home, take care of your body. Connect with the central body of your spiritual home. Connect to the 'egregore' of your spiritual home. Body, house, medium body, spiritual home, all of this is synonymous, that is the same thing. When you take care of it, you take care of everything else. [Note: An egregore is, in esotericism, a concept designating a group spirit influenced by the common desires of several individuals united in a well-defined goal].
Don't lose the spiritual dimension of this crisis, have the aspect of the eagle, who from above, sees it all, sees more widely.
There is a social demand in this crisis, but there is also a spiritual demand.
Both of them go hand in hand. Without the social dimension, we fall into fanaticism. But without the spiritual dimension, we fall into pessimism and lack of meaning.
You were ready to go through this crisis. Grab your toolbox and use all the tools at your disposal.
Learn more about the resistance of indigenous and African people: we have always been and continue to be exterminated.
But we still haven't stopped singing, dancing, light a fire and have fun.
Don't feel guilty for being happy during this difficult time.
You don't help at all by being sad and without energy. It helps if good things emanate from the Universe now. It is through joy that we resist.
In addition, when the storm passes, you will be very important in the reconstruction of this new world. You must be good and strong. And, for this, there is no other way but to maintain a beautiful, happy and bright vibration.
This has nothing to do with alienation. This is a resistance strategy.
In shamanism, there is a rite of passage called the quest for vision. You spend a few days alone in the forest, with no water, no food, no protection.
When you go through this portal, you get a new view of the world, for you faced your fears, your difficulties... That's what you're asked.
Let them take advantage of this time to perform their rituals of looking for the vision. What world do you want to construct yourself?
For now, here's what you can do: serenity in the storm. Calm down and pray. Every day. Establish a routine to meet the sacred every day. Good things emanate, what you emanate now is the most important thing. And sing, dance, resist through art, joy, faith and love. "

1) Sarah Schwab vs Fayz singing "Desert Rose" of Sting and Cheb Mami
Very enjoyable, tough to judge because it’s male voice vs female voice. Amel chose Fayz; probably not a good choice.

2) Nessa vs Pia singing "Dernière Danse" of Indila
Here we have a soprano (Nessa) vs an alto (Pia), again a very enjoyable presentation, singing and movement. Pascal chose Nessa.

3) Margau vs Matteo singing “Ce rêve bleu”, from the soundtrack of Aladdin where it was sung by Karine Costa, Daniel Levi and Paolo Domingo.
Matteo was o.k., Margau looks like a star and sang quite well. Lara and Amel seemed to really appreciate her during the presentation, and the other judges lauded her after it. Lara chose Margau (and as you can see below, had that not been the case, they would probably have kicked Lara off the show… ).

4) Owlite vs Tristan singing "Les mots bleus" of Christophe
Both were, oddly, (mostly) just carrying guitars, Tristan had a better voice but the song was not arranged for that to be shown very much. Amel really liked him. Pascal chose Owlite – again not a good choice.

5) Melba vs Ana singing "Summertime Sadness" of Lana del Rey
Melba had the better voice; Ana is cute. Amel chose Ana.

Once again, in the majority of cases, the judge chose the person who did not sing as well. Lara has said that if these shows were around when she was young, she would definitely have wanted to compete. Based on what we’ve seen, if this judging criteria were followed then, she probably would have lost!
Lara’s choice of song for this battle has come under criticism, for it didn’t fit the voice of either of the contestants. In the article (and accompanying video) at
tv-programme.com/the-voice_emission/replay/the-voice-2020-lara-fabian-en-plein-doute-est-ce-qu-on-s-est-plante-sur-le-choix-de-la-chanson_5e7b3e637dd6e
Lara herself expressed doubt in the brief blurb translated below:
------------------------------------------------------------------
THE VOICE 2020 - Lara Fabian in full doubt: "Did we get stuck on the choice of song?"
A dream (blue) that becomes a nightmare. For this new Battle, Margau and Matteo will compete on the title "Ce rêve bleu", Aladdin's soundtrack sung by Karine Costa, Daniel Levi and Paolo Domingo. But during the coaching, the two talents showed difficulties which created doubts in Lara Fabian. Was the song choice the right one?

---------------------------------------------------------------
Battles from "The Voice" - Margau: "Singing 'Ce reve bleu' was a very big challenge"
INTERVIEW - The 20-year-old Quebecer delivered a top-notch performance with Matteo on the Disney classic "Ce rêve bleu". But she thought she was not going to make it, as she explains to LCI.
"A dreamlike battle". The words used by Nikos Aliagas to present their duo could not be more adequate. Margau and Matteo, two of the most beautiful voices of this 9th season of "The Voice", were put face to face by Lara Fabian for the battles test, broadcast on Saturday March 28 on TF1.
The Québécoise and the Lebanese managed to mix their stamps for a cover of "Ce reve bleu", cult hit of the Disney cartoon "Aladdin", which seduced the public and the four coaches. But it is she that the singer of "Je t’aime" has chosen to take to the knockout test. From Canada, the young woman of 20 years comes back on this stage crossed not without difficulty ... the day of her birthday.
LCI: You win your battle the day you celebrate your 20th birthday. Is this the greatest gift you could ever want?
Margau: Oh yes, for sure! I didn't realize that the day of the shooting would be my birthday because initially, the shooting took place on January 16 and I was born on the 17th. But with Matteo, we went around midnight so it was funny for me to point it out when we were on set.
The choice of the song that you interpreted with Matteo posed some adjustment problems at the start. Lara Fabian even questioned herself. Did you say to yourself at one point: "It's gone, we're not going to get there"?
Margau: Clearly, that's what I said to myself as soon as I heard the song. The day before, I had watched Matteo's audition and I did not understand how we were going to achieve something good. He has a very special voice, out of the ordinary. I couldn't imagine the end result. Already arriving at rehearsals, I was a little stressed. And the more the rehearsals went on, the more I was because we couldn't find a tone that suited us both. We ended up finding, I just had to repeat more than usual. In the end, we came up with a result that I think is the best for us.
We tend to say that the songs from Disney movies are obvious to sing but in the end not at all. What makes the difficulty of "Ce reve bleu"?
Margau: I never said to myself that Disney songs were easy because that is not the case! The girls who sing for Disney sing so loud, it's crazy! In Quebec, singing high like that is almost inconceivable. These are songs for children's films, you have to find more childlike voices, therefore higher up. When Lara brought up the idea for "Ce reve bleu", I thought to myself: "Ok ..." The pitch of the notes was almost unattainable. Working on it is possible, but it's a very, very big challenge.
It would be a dream to be able to be part of the casting of a musical. And then it's Pascal Obispo who tells me, it's pretty incredible.
Your performance dazzled all the coaches, starting with Amel Bent who did not hide her admiration. She says in your voice that it is "the most technically impressive from the start" and even speaks of insolence. What's going on in your head at that time?
Margau: I told myself that it was a dream, that it should not be true. At the blind audition, the four coaches turned around and at the time you said to yourself "Wow". But at battles, you wonder if after this performance they would have turned around again for you and if they would still have wanted me in their team. Then when I heard Amel Bent's comments, I said to myself: "Ok, everything she told me at the blind auditions was true. She really wanted me". She is an artist that I respect a lot and I have thought a lot about whether I joined Amel or Lara during the previous stage.
Pascal Obispo, who is knowledgeable in the field, assures that producers of musicals can hire you right away. Is this a path you would like to follow?
Margau: Yes, for sure, because it is a very large market. There are many in France, many in Quebec. Often, singers in Quebec have made themselves known like that. This is the case of Garou with "Notre-Dame de Paris". I think it's really a great start to a career. In France, there are so many beautiful theaters that are always full. It would be a dream to be able to be part of the casting of a musical. And then it is Pascal Obispo who tells me, it's pretty incredible.
During your blind audition, you said that your objective was "at least to reach the semi-final". With all the compliments received during the battles, you do not dream of being a finalist, or even a winner?
Margau: Oh my God ! Finalist or winner, for me it's like unattainable. In my head, I said to myself: "It sure ends in the semi-finals, maximum". The final is a childhood dream that is a bit impossible. The semi-final is a big stage, it is at the Palais des Sports in front of 4000 people (Live broadcasts must be held for the first time in this large Parisian auditorium, note). I just have to keep showing my personality, my voice and what I've been doing from the start.
We are all going through a complicated time due to the coronavirus pandemic. But history has shown that containment inspires artists. This is also your case if we believe your Instagram account where you sing with your family ...
Margau: (She laughs). It was more of a joke than anything else but it went viral. "Coton ouaté" (sweater in Quebec, editor's note) is a song by Blue Jeans Bleu, a Quebec group. It's a bit of a parody that became very popular so much that it was played on the radio. They even performed it with Céline Dion at the Bell Center in Montreal last February, it was really funny. We didn't do anything during confinement, it's sad. We eat a lot, it's the only thing we can do. To laugh, my father said that he no longer fit into his hoodie and that gave us the idea. During dinner, we started to write a parody of the song which was almost one.
[Note: that video can be seen at: www.instagram.com/tv/B-IIGegoUfg/].
You recently left Cholet, where you were living with your partner Raphaël, for Quebec. How do you see the coming weeks?
Margau: We had no choice but to return because my boyfriend was playing ice hockey in Cholet and his season was canceled due to the coronavirus. We no longer really had accommodation there and even if it meant staying confined, we thought we were going to stay confined in Quebec. It would also have been difficult to come back once all the borders were closed. On a personal level, I would like to continue the adventure "The Voice". That, you will know later (she laughs, note). I would like to come back to France if I have opportunities for shows, musicals, you never know. In Quebec, there is an album waiting for me too and a single that should be released soon, but I don't know when yet. Beautiful things await me, but the coronavirus must go.
At the end of your battle, Marc Lavoine said of you: "She did not take the doves out of the sleeves. She made magic, real". So what will be your next turn?
Margau: Show a facet of my voice that I have not yet revealed. The song I chose for the knockouts, I wanted to do it from the blind auditions because I really like the style and the performer. I think it will surprise the audience and the coaches because they should not expect too much from such a song. I want to show a different energy than the one I showed from the start.
------------------------------------
So now each team has 7 members, and in the knockouts they are reduced to three, who go forward to the live shows, where the audience is involved in judging. Lara’s seven contestants are: Sam Tallet; Cheyenne Janas; Maria Cuche; Enzo S; Gustine; Nataly Vetrano; and Margau. The women are all quite good; as far as pure voice goes, Cheyenne would seem to be the best. Sam is the weakest candidate. It’s a pretty strong team.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: Lara on her Instagram site,
with the caption, “One year already .... I landed in Brussels to say a last goodbye .... #Mom ♥ ️”
Very relevant picture, given the threat this virus poses especially for older people – many mothers and fathers…
Next week we can imagine there will be more of the same – with, hopefully, everybody staying healthy, while the new ‘knockout’ contests begin on The Voice. Good luck to you all, and hope you can enjoy yourself all the same.

Margau certainly looks like a star. You can also see from her comments that she has some doubts about whether she made the right choice in picking Lara. You may remember Lara went “all out” to try to get her, and Margau seemed to just accept that enthusiasm. We’ll see what happens in the ‘knockouts’ which are coming up next.
