The big news this week was not associated with Lara’s 50 World Tour, or the latest broadcast of ‘The Voice’, but of what Lara hinted at recently: a ‘new’ album – or rather the old album, Papillon, but now with three new songs. Lara introduced it on her FB site, with a picture at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.622966977744803/3580079728700165/?type=3&theater
and on her Instagram site,
with the statement, “On this Valentine's Day, I love celebrating love so much, I wish you all the love to live... and on this special day, I announce that the re-release of the album "Papillon ( s )" is Now available - with 3 new ones - pre-order on all platforms... Kisses... 💋💋💋
If one goes, say, to amazon.fr (https://www.amazon.fr/Papillon-s-Lara-Fabian/dp/B084MK271X/ref=sr_1_8?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=Lara+Fabian+Papillon&qid=1581970056&sr=8-8)
all the previous 11 songs are there (Par amour is listed as an ‘edited’ version), plus the three new ones: En chemin; C'est l'heure; Undefeated Love. ‘Undefeated Love’ we heard Lara perform at the Krutoy concert at the beginning of January (e.g., www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvlqPWt-A1M). Since that was already a recorded version one wonders if it’s exactly the one that will be included (without the ice skating clown). It’s a tuneful ‘anthem’ and an interesting choice in that she’s adding an English language song to what was previously an all French album (and advertised as such). However, she’s done that before, and with the same type of song: the original release of Carpe Diem had as its last song another ‘anthem’, “Bridge of Hope”. Given where it ‘premiered’, one wonders if it’s not a Krutoy song, the music at least.
There are various songs called “C’est la heure” but one presumes it’s new. Similarly previous songs called “En chemin” exist. It certainly describes Lara’s current state of activity; again one presumes she had a hand in its creation. Both the on-line .mp3s and the CD will be available starting March 20th.
This is not a strange activity for Lara; she often has a ‘variant’ of her original album release that is put on the market months later; in this case it’s about a year later. It certainly adds to the length of the music release. Hopefully this will re-invigorate sales of the album, especially in conjunction with her French tour and appearances on The Voice. We’ll see.
And concerning that tour…Lara started off the week with a photograph that explained what it had in store for her and her fans,

with the text, “Lara Fabian - So happy with this week waiting for you ... Tours, Mouilleron Le Captif, Bordeaux, Montpellier ... see you soon”

The tour now is going fine, apparently. We’ll see what happens after her break of almost a month before the next show. The French segments shouldn't be a problem, but the first three dates are in the Ukraine and Moldavia...will those actually take place, given her recent issues with the 'international concerts' promoters? It would be good to get some reassurance from her management.
Then it was on to The Voice. Here’s a brief summary, with the appropriate video at the end of each entry:
1) Tristan sang "Andy" of Rita Mitsouko
He played the guitar, was quite rhythmic; Pascal and Marc turned
He chose Pascal.
www.tf1.fr/tf1/the-voice/videos/the-voice-2020-tristan-chante-andy-des-rita-mitsouko-65324884.html
2)Maggy sang "Jealous" of Labrinth with a nice full voice, yet no one turned
3)Margau sang "En rouge et noir" of Jeanne Mas
She has a nice, sensitive voice; Marc, Lara, Amel, Pascal
This candidate strongly affected Lara; she 'fell in love' with the young Quebecer. Lara didn’t hesitate to take a Quebec accent in order to speak to her and it seems to have worked since Margau joined her team. However, many Internet users criticized her and they complain that she does too much. "Lara is too mannered, too sensitive," said a surfer on Twitter. "We are talking about Lara Fabian who gives us a Quebec accent when she was born in Belgium" said another internet user. The other judges also joined in, Pascal in particular – they noted that when candidates were from Belgium, or Italy, or Quebec, Lara would use her accents to try to persuade them. They joked she probably would even do it for Japanese candidates. The video of them doing this can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/the.voice.tf1/videos/665159970918706/
while Margau’s presentation can be seen at:
www.tf1.fr/tf1/the-voice/videos/the-voice-2020-margau-chante-en-rouge-et-noir-de-jeanne-mas-35544215.html
4)Milan C sang “Habitue” of Dosseh – A decent Voice, for which no one turned.
5)Mélodie sang "I’d rather go blind" from ’Etta James
A blues song, performed with a full voice.
Mélodie impressed the judges, and all turned for her. They all turned around and Mélodie which surprised her. She joined the Amel Bent team. Amel was happy with her new recruit and thought she had a connection with her.
6)The La Rafa Mia trio sang "Clandestino" of Manu Chao
A Spanish song they sang and performed on their guitars.
Pascal and Marc turned.
This is a family trio with the father and his two children and was the big surprise of the evening. They sang and told the story of their family. This touched Pascal Obispo a lot since his family experienced the same thing as the group. Pascal even sheds a few tears. He relived the history of his family through that of the trio and he was very moved. "The mask falls, his heart opens," says Lara Fabian. Amel Bent is also very surprised to see the coach crying. "This adventure of The Voice allows me to get to know you. It's beautiful when you drop the armor," said Amel Bent to Obispo.
Despite all that histrionics, they decided to go to Marc Lavoine's team!
Note that the audience can criticize Lara for being 'too sensitive', yet when Pascal or Marc has reacted that way, they get a pass. Maybe because Lara seems to do it more often.
www.tf1.fr/tf1/the-voice/videos/the-voice-2020-la-rafa-mia-chante-clandestino-de-manu-chao-35843667.html
7) Roxane sang "Je sais pas" of Céline Dion
She has a quite nice alto voice, yet again no one turned.
8)Laure "Je m’appelle Bagdad" of Tina Arena
A nice voice, with a big ovation at end
Pascal, Lara, Amel turned.
Laure, 26, tried her luck and admitted that she had an illness and had lost the use of speech for two years. She managed to get out of it and she was able to join an art school. From the first notes, Laure convinced those judges. The young woman is very moved and she finds it difficult to contain her emotions. "I was disturbed by your voice and I had chills," Lara said.
Lara really loved Laure and wanted to have her on her team. She offered to come and sing a song with her at the Olympia. Laure was very touched but she eventually decided to go to Pascal Obispo's team. [Here Lara's strong presentation did not work].

9)Lois Vachetta sang “Melody Nelson” of Serge Gainsbourg
A rock song with a guitar.
Pascal, Marc turned
Lois has always been immersed in music and loves rock. From the first notes, the candidate surprised Marc and Pascal and they turned around. However, Marc Lavoine did not hesitate to block Pascal. "I knew it !" said Pascal Obispo. Pascal was very sad not to be able to have Lois on his team, and of course now the candidate went directly to Marc’s team.

10) Romain sang "Always remember us this way" of Lady Gaga
Very nice resonant voice. No one turned.
11)Enzo S "A change is gonna come" of Sam Cooke
A nice, creative presentation
Amel, Pascal, and Lara turned.

12)Mariaa Siga sings "Asimbonanga" of Johnny Clegg & Savuka
An African sound, stylish and beautiful with very nice voice.
Big cheer from the audience but no one turned.
Mariaa is from Senegal and has always loved to sing with her brother. Lara Fabian noticed that the singer had a lot of stress. Despite not being chosen, Mariaa was very happy to have tried it. "It’s a great experience for me."
www.tf1.fr/tf1/the-voice/videos/the-voice-2020-roxane-chante-je-sais-pas-de-celine-dion-99841832.html
13) Kevin Dozot sang "Madame rêve" of Alain Bashung
A mediocre voice;.
Marc turned
In an interesting twist, perhaps a carryover from Marc having blocked him, Pascal criticized Marc for his selection. Even Amel didn’t understand why Pascal didn’t turn around. Pascal said, "I think Marc was tricked because he liked the song.” Marc tried to explain himself and actually got mad at that. He said, "There is work, there is a job of abandonment to find" with this candidate he said. "For me, this song is not you" replied Pascal. Finally, they sort of came to a truce.

Amel Bent obtained only one talent: Mélodie. For her part, Lara Fabian had two new singers in her team: Margau and Enzo. Pascal Obispo also managed to have two candidates in his team: Tristan and Laure. Finally, Marc Lavoine obtained the most talent this evening, adding three to his team: Rafa Mìa, Loïs and Kevin. Overall, Lara has 11, as does Marc, Amel has 9, as does Pascal.
Here are some thoughts on this episode, and on the show in general:
** The singers with the best voices on this episode did not get chosen, whereas lesser vocal talents did.
**Related to that – all the judges choose candidates who sing like themselves – except Lara. She chooses candidates completely different from herself. Since she’s the one real “singer of voice” here, that’s why the best voices don’t get chosen – presumably the program, if it thought about it, had counted on her to focus on the “big voices” – at least that’s what they promised in their promo for this season. Since she won’t do it, nobody will.
**The judges appear to have a ‘sheep’ mentality; they’re continually looking at each other to see if a candidate should be chosen (the women more than the men). As soon as one “hits the button”, there’s a good chance someone else will as well. It suggests they don’t really know what they’re doing, at least some of the time.
**Related to that, admittedly there are some marginal candidates, and that makes it tricky, especially because one can only have 14 slots, and you don’t want to use them up.
In other news, Lara has opened an on-line shop with items that are being sold in conjunction with her 50 World Tour. It can be found at:
Now, if only they would sell, or have links to, her CDs, DVDs, etc., it would be a real store for a recording artist.
Lara was on the show “1ere fois “and there were several interesting developments. The first had to do with an “old friend”, as explained by the following article (https://arp.media/nouvelles/%e2%80%891res-fois%e2%80%89-sacree-belle-surprise-lara-fabian%e2%80%89-video/?fbclid=IwAR0maY0aPuRG2J49Eb_fu5gY0HljnrTetuJO-DBfUY0h4bIE2HOgsgZZsWU). Here’s the translation:

"1st time": quite a surprise for Lara Fabian!
Each week, the 1st time team proves that it has an undeniable talent for finding a few finds that will amaze the guests of the show. It was the case for singer Lara Fabian who was entitled to quite a surprise!
In an extract posted on the show's official Facebook, we can hear host Véronique Cloutier talking about a certain Nicolas Fatta who was very important in the life of the artist from Belgium.
" There is a person, a friend in particular, whose name was Nicolas I think, who supported you a lot, who even defended you ," explained the host. The singer of “Saiser le jour” continued that theme: " He is the first great friend who saves a being from a kind of despair in which you fall because no one ultimately agrees with what you are ".
The 50-year-old artist told the “1st time” team not to look for him, as they would never be able to find him. It was then that the former VJ of Musique Plus reserved a nice surprise for their guest. She explained that Nicolas had flown from Geneva to Switzerland to join her on the show's set.
The reaction of the singer was very touching! We will have to wait until Thursday evening to find out more about this reunion. Hats off to the researchers for this great coup!

Lara will presumably have some time at home for the next few weeks, although eventually she will have to return for the live shows on The Voice (or any other taping that needs to be done). A well-deserved rest and reunification with her family. Meanwhile, we’ll get to see what other candidates join her team on The Voice; three more to go to fill out her team.
