When we ‘signed off’ last week’s News Update, we wondered how difficult it would be for Lara to be embarking on two full-time projects at the same time, her concert tour and her orientation for “The Voice”. It turns out that it was not easy, or actually even do-able. Lara left this message on her FB and Instagram sites on Sunday:
---------------------------------
Dear all,
It is with the saddest heart that I have to cancel my shows this week ....
I am right now totally incapable of standing on stage and having been signed off by the Doctor.
I truly regret what is happening and it will cause you a lot of trouble ...
I deeply apologize for the inconvenience ...
I promise I will make it up to you.
Sincerely ...
Lara
-------------------------------
A news conference (in Romanian) was held to discuss the cancellation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMNHZ-n8M7o); (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIQjGmXYNHo). They didn’t appear very happy about this turn of events, and according to the information provided below the video, the speaker noted that “this wasn’t the first time Lara didn’t fulfill her contract in their country”. And that they, like everybody else, learned about it Sunday morning for a Sunday concert.
An article about this, with not much more real information appeared at www.romania-insider.com/lara-fabian-concerts-ro-2019-postponed). Here’s what it said:
-------------------------------------
DAILY NEWS >ENTERTAINMENT Singer Lara Fabian postpones Romania concerts for health reasons
The concerts that Lara Fabian was due to deliver in Bucharest and Craiova were postponed because of the singer’s health problems.
The tickets purchased remain valid for new dates, to be announced later, the organizers of the event have said.
The singer was due to perform in Craiova on November 17 and in Bucharest on November 18 and November 19. The news of the performances being postponed came at the last minute, only one day before the first Bucharest show.
“The two performances at Sala Palatului In Bucharest are sold in a much higher proportion than initially foreseen. Laura’s fans are waiting for her with a lot of love and warmth,” the organizers said. Updates on the concerts will be released as the artist communicates them, they said.
Fabian also posted a message on Facebook, updating fans and apologizing.
“Dear all, It is with the saddest heart that I have to cancel my shows this week.... I am right now totally incapable of standing on stage and have been signed off by the doctor. I truly regret what is happening and realize that it will cause pain and trouble to many of you... I deeply apologize for the inconvenience... I promise I will make it up to you. Sincerely… Lara,” the post reads.
Those who wish to recover the ticket money can do so at the agencies from where they purchased them.

Info
Lara Fabian sadly announces to the fans about the postponement of the concerts in Bucharest from November 18 and 19 due to an infection she recently contacted. The artist suffers from an illness that does not allow her to sing, and the doctors have prescribed her a few days' rest, as she herself announces.
The concert from November 18 at the Palace Hall is rescheduled on February 3, 2020 at the Palace Hall, and tickets remain valid for the new date.
For the event on November 19, the seats will be reallocated in the limit of availability
for the new date, starting December 9 and will be sent by email automatically in case you did not make the request for reimbursement until the date mentioned below.
We request that the requests for the return of the value of the tickets be made by December 8th.
The relocations will be made taking into account the order of the initial purchases and both the price category chosen and the number of tickets that will be attached will be retained, so we ask you not to send additional requests to request specific places, as they will not be honored.
For the electronic tickets, purchased on eventim.ro, the buyers are requested to send an email to contact@eventim.ro with the subject "Return Lara Fabian Bucharest.", Specifying the order number. The value of the tickets will be returned within 20 working days on the card with which the payment was made.
We inform you that as a result of the postponement of these events, we receive a large volume of requests, which is why the answers will be delayed. Please do not send more requests, as we assure that we will answer all in chronological order.
The physical tickets are required to be returned to our premises following the money being refunded on the card or by bank transfer. The address where you can return your tickets is Str. Popa Petre no. 5 floor 2, sector 2, Bucharest, and the work schedule is 12: 00-20: 00 from Monday to Friday.
If the tickets are purchased from the partner stores, the delivery of the tickets and the return of the money will be made at the same point where they were purchased.
Thank you for your understanding and patience,

It thus appears to be an infection that prevents Lara from singing, and requires a few days rest.
The following of course is pure speculation: While anybody can get ill, for a whole lot of different reasons, stress is often an underlying component, especially for ailments that involve the immune system, like infections; and knowing how emotional Lara is, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the stress of these two different enterprises has worn her down.
The shows that were then affected were the three in Romania that were scheduled for Sunday (11/17) through today (11/19). The fact that she waited until the day of the first show to cancel indicates how hard she tried to make it happen, although it also had the consequence of severely impacting people who were traveling to Craiova to see it. The two dates in Bucharest, the 18th and 19th, will have their shows lumped together for February 3rd, while the show for Craoiva was not mentioned in the article. Horia Brenciu was to sing in a duet with Lara Fabian in Bucharest; no mention whether that will still happen.
We will also have to see whether this ailment actually affects her participation in The Voice as well. If Lara can’t sing, can she speak or pay attention to the blind auditions? Or will it clear up by then?
Ironically, this makes two straight years that Lara’s appearance on one of the incarnations of “The Voice” has negatively affected her touring. Last year, preparations and initial appearances for La Voix cut short any possible promotion for the American concerts, which had started off with such promise for her first English language album in over a decade. The net result was that most of the venues were only half-filled. And now similar preparations for The Voice have in effect caused all of the November concerts in eastern Europe to be ‘suspended’/moved. This illustrates how difficult it is for an international artist to work on a weekly television show, regardless of how strong the temptation.
Another aspect of this difficulty arose earlier in the week, when Lara could not be present for the launch of Geneviève Jodoin’s first album. Lara commented:
----------------------------------
Geneviève Jodoin, I'm so proud of you and that your talent was entrusted to me in this beautiful show that is La Voix ... I can not, to my great regret, be present tonight to celebrate the release of this album but my heart is turned towards you, and I sincerely wish you all the career and the success you deserve ... you know that I watch over you, and we will find ourselves on stage in April to make our voices reason together with the unison 🙏❤.
She then left photos of the two of them, and of Genevieve’s new album cover:

In other news, Cello The Movie, for which Lara sang the wonderful closing song ‘Remember Me’ will be coming to Amazon prime on November 22 (this may vary from country to country). Here’s the announcement, thanks to the Lara Fabian web FB site for the link,

Interesting photo(s) of the week: one can be certain Lara doesn’t feel anything like this right now, but in the hope of ‘creating this reality for her’, this is from the “Lara Fabian Bien Plus qu’une Passion: Corse Reunion” FB site,
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianBienPlusQuunePassionCorseReunion/photos/a.501228263404688/1257697361091104/?type=3&theater
Lara was supposed to be away through 11/19, so she probably wouldn’t have been back in France much before 11/21, and the blind auditions themselves start four days later, some 6 days from today. Postponing the concerts then gives her more time to recuperate. Hopefully Lara will be able to make those – if not, the ramifications for her will be worse than simply missing three concerts in Romania. Perhaps she had that in mind when deciding what to postpone… Sad times for Lara; we wish her a speedy recovery...
