The big event this past week was Lara’s appearance at Igor Krutoy’s 65th birthday party celebration in Moscow, that included not only singers but Olympic figure skating champions. Lara got to sing with Dimash Kudaibergen, among others (including, via video, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, whom, you may remember, passed away of a brain tumor in November, 2017 – he was only 55 years old). Lara had sung with him “Toi et moi” in the past, and they ‘resurrected’ that moment, with him on screen and her singing her part. Dimash, you might say, took Dmitry’s part in the rest of the proceedings.
We have a number of videos of Lara’s performances (7 songs):

With respect to’Undefeated Love’, here’s an explanation for it that was posted as a comment on youtube: “Great video! This song in Russian was sung by Dimash, first in Astana, then in Kazan and at the close of the New Wave. Song - "Where Love Lives." The gorgeous Lara Fabian wrote an English text and apparently changed the content, adapting to her personality, added melisma and sang more lyrically than Dimash. Her song turned out to be very gentle and even touching, and not just easy and cheerful, like Dimash’s.”
“Running” reminds us there are a number of songs Lara has produced with Igor Krutoi that have never made their way onto records…perhaps her creative plans with him could include some of those…
There are various nice pictures of Lara at this show that can be found at:
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianBienPlusQuunePassionCorseReunion/photos/pcb.1247470975447076/1247470122113828/?type=3&theater
And there was a nice short video of Lara and Dimash after the concert, at www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNvvXbSgNt4; he said he had been dreaming about this moment (singing with Lara) ever since his childhood (which must have made Lara feel…young! ). Actually, as in all Igor Krutoy events, it’s an open question how much ‘live’ singing Lara did in each of those songs (Llora in particular). At the end of that video Lara says “Let’s do it again”, to which he readily agrees.
On her Instagram site, Lara posted a picture of herself and Dimash,
with the caption, “My dear @kudaibergenov.dimash ... I was so happy to see you ... You are so talented 🙏💋”
To which he replied: “Thank you very much. I was so happy to sing with you. Love you very much 😘😘😘😘😘😘”
Then Lara posted a picture of herself with Krutoi and his wife,
and her caption, “Thank you my dear friend @igorkrutoy65 ... It was so good to share this moment with your wife @olgakroutoi and your friends.... 💋💋”
Actually, the night before the concert Lara was on a game show in Russia called “What, Where, When”. The Lara Fabian,Bien Plus Qu’une Passion. “Corse -Reunion” site provided the video of Lara ‘singing’ and Kruoti ‘playing’ the piano for 'Llora':

Lara in fur – something one doesn’t see very often…
One would have to say that Lara seems to enjoy her time with ‘Russian royalty’ when she gets to live in Krutoi’s world for a little while. It would be nice if they did have another musical project together, for, at least in the past, it has allowed her to really sing, and in different languages.
Lara presumably will now go to France to participate in “The Voice – La Plus Belle” for the blind auditions. Her next concerts are not scheduled until November 18th and 19th in Bucharest, Romania (those still seem to be on as far as her website is concerned).
Back in Quebec, Lara was on the cover of the magazine "7 Jours” and had a long interview. The Lara Fabian, Bien Plus Qu’une Passion. “Corse -Reunion” site provided the scans. Here’s the translation:

In 60 Cities around the world. The Secrets of Her Life on Tour.
The singer is in the middle of her 50 World Tour, which launched in September. Although she is delighted to meet her fans all over the world, she does not hide that she misses her family and her home. She took the time to give us news of her life, her family and her career between two concerts abroad.
Lara Fabian: I miss my family and my Quebec
In September, Lara Fabian kicked off the 50 World Tour in New York, a world tour that celebrated her 30 years of career and 50 years of life. The show tells the love story that has been woven between the singer and her audience for three decades. Constantly on a train or a plane, far from her family, Lara makes sure to keep in touch daily with her daughter, Lou, and her husband, Gabriel. We joined her in Kiev, Ukraine, to get her news.
Lara, how did it go the launching of this tour in New York recently?
LF: We started with great fanfare on September 16th. It's been over a month since I left home and I'm on a tour. It goes well. People really like the show. It is frankly beautiful to see the reaction of the people, from New York to Los Angeles, to San Jose, passing through Moscow, Chicago, Kiev and all the other cities I have visited in the meantime. As we speak, I have already given 16 concerts, that is to say a concert every two days.
It's an Olympic rhythm, no?
LF: It’s true, but I know that at Christmas, I’m going to be able to rest a little. I intend to take 15 days of leave. I have to stay in Europe for a while for my concerts and because I'm going to start filming The Voice. So yes, the rhythm is really sustained and requires exceptional discipline. You have to live it to understand it.
It is hard to imagine everything behind the stage. Life on the road involves living constantly in one’s suitcases and requires an enormous amount of travel!
LF: Yes it is. We operate in blocks of two days. Every 48 hours, I change city and even country. I did four countries just now. Wake up, after the usual preparations, I pack my bags and I head to the airport. I take the plane, I go to another city. I install myself again in another hotel. I spend a small hour eating something, then I head for the show room for the evening show sound test. After the show, I go back to my hotel and the next day, I start again! It's a typical day of touring life. When we are traveling, I do not usually sing in the evening, but it occupies all my day. My life is currently an airplane, a show, an airplane, a show ... And each time, it's a hotel and a different bed. It is an incredible chance to have an audience that is waiting for me in all these countries, in all these languages. It gives me the strength to continue this marathoner schedule.
Broken in to the trips as you are, have you developed some techniques that save you time?
LF: I live in my suitcases. I do not do anything. I work in small piles of clothes for each day. We become accustomed to suitcases. We have no choice but to be effective! If we had to constantly make and remake our suitcases, it wouldn’t make good sense. I am conscious that it is abnormal to live like that!
Even if you have the privilege of traveling around the world, you have little time to truly visit….
LF: Effectively. I do not have time to visit, but I still have the chance to see the country. On tour, sleep is important. For a singer, it's essential. We must be able to ignore the fact that there is no normal in this rhythm. You have to sleep to the maximum and offer the best of yourself on stage. It's really the way to go. So no, it's not true that I visit the cities where I sing and that I will eat at night with my musicians. In the evening, we are exhausted! After the show, we all return to our rooms. But do not think that the complicity that we all live together with my director, Joel Legendre, my artistic director, Manu Pitois, my beautiful choristers, the sisters Riverin (Marie-Eve, Caroline and Karine), and all the team is absent: we live frankly wonderful moments. I am happy to drag my Quebec with me in a way.
It's fascinating to think that you have fans at the end of the world and that your audience is waiting for you in Russia, Ukraine and elsewhere?
LF: Honestly, it's pretty extraordinary! I always feel an exceptional welcome. I have fans here who are just so wonderful. People know the repertoire. It's amazing to see them react to French songs. Every night, when I see the posters of the fans in several languages, when I hear them sing my songs in French, I am very emotional.
Wherever you are around the world, are there magical moments in the show?
LF: Of course! I would say that the song “Je t’aime” is a special moment with people, especially with this new arrangement we made with the Riverin sisters. I open the show with “Adagio”. That too is another great moment. And when I talk about my father and my mother, I see that it affects people a lot.
On tour, do the links really make sense? Do you become a little tight knit family?
LF: Yes really. I'm on a tour with sisters Marie-Eve, Caroline and Karine Riverin. Since girls do not travel to these places, they want to see the country. For my part, I will not hide that I am a good sleeper when I go on a tour. Often it is at the theater that we meet. We can eat together in the evening, provided we do not have to travel the next morning, because it means getting up early. On a few occasions, we have been able to find ourselves around a meal after the show. It's true that that creates some strong ties. These are our only benchmarks, finally.
When you must travel between two cities or two countries, how do you maximize your time?
LF: I am an adept of TED Talks. I download some talks which interest me on science, technology, health. It is my food for the spirit. It keeps me from having the feeling of wasting my time permanently on airplanes and airports. I watch documentaries or series, I read. I listen to little music. I have so much in my ears ... I prefer to feed on the work of researchers and scientists. It really connects me a lot.
I presume that the most difficult, is to leave the family behind you?
LF: honestly, that, it’s very hard. I’m not going to lie in saying that it isn’t difficult. Anyone can understand how difficult it is to be away from my family, from the family nest. You can devote yourself to your work, but the family remains so important.
Have you found a way to keep in contact?
LF: When Gabriel and my daughter sit down to eat, they put the telephone on the table and I eat with them. I eat always at the same time as them. And that works!
That permits you to remain in contact and to have the feeling of participating in family life?
LF: Yes. I also try to maintain a schedule that allows me not to be too out of step with them. I organized myself to have only three hours of time off with my family. It allows me to talk to my husband and my daughter even when it is very late. When they eat at 7 pm in Quebec, it's 2 am in Europe for me. I never go to bed before 3 or 4 am to share this moment with them.
For the duration of the tour, it is therefore Gabriel who watches over Lou at home?
LF: Yes, they are remaining in Quebec. I don’t want to destabilize the family. On the contrary, each time that there will be a possibility, a long week-end or some break, Lou and Gabriel will come and join me. The longest period that I pass without seeing my family, it is 23 days.
Lou, is she happy to live in Quebec?
LF: Yes, and Lou goes to school. For this reason it was imperative that I stabilize it to continue as usual, despite all my commitments. She is very happy ... and I am grateful!
The well-being of your daughter remains a priority.
LF: Yes, especially because it gives meaning to what I'm doing. When our children are well, it makes us free to continue. It's amazing how Lou is strong! Recently, I said to Lou that I miss her a lot, this is what she answered: "You also mom, I miss you, but I want you to know that I'm happy ..." To know that she is well it's magical for me, it's priceless, I'm lucky to have an angel next to my daughter, a dad, a wonderful husband, who makes everything okay.
Do you really need an understanding lover to deal with your professional life?
LF: It's true ... I'm really lucky.
There will be a pause during the holidays. Have you a program during this period.
LF: There will be 15 days of pause. In this period, the family will come to join me in Europe. Following that, I re-take the tour until May 2020.
Did you have the desire to be near your father during the holidays?
LF: Yes, because December 25th is his birthday. We are therefore going to be with him. I will also be in Belgium the evening of my 50th birthday when I will sing that evening in my home town at the Forest National in Brussels. The 9th of January, it will be a big show with my Belgium fans. I wanted to celebrate in the place where I was born. There will be my father, my childhood friends. I believe that it will be a beautiful moment.
How do you see this beautiful step?
LF: 50 years, for me, it is only a number. It's not annoying at all. We must dwell on the beauty of the course.
You will be on The Voice this autumn. Are you able to give us some details?
LF: Not yet, as far as I have not lived with this project. It will start at the end of November. I know that good big days of work are waiting for me. I was told about it!
During a certain period, you will therefore be at the same time on tour and on The Voice?
LF: Yes, and it is for that that I accepted to do The Voice, for I would already be in Europe at that time. Otherwise, I could not have done it. The shooting dates fill the concert breaks during my stay in Europe, so it's perfect!
It takes a constitution of iron to lead these two projects together. How do you stay in top form?
LF: I take care to sleep the hours that I need because it is important. And I live a day at a time. To live one day at a time is the only way to get there ...

Fascinating interview – quite revealing about her way of life on tour. One of the best!
In upcoming events, Lara will be one of the guests of Vincent Niclo in the show "300 choirs sing the greatest classical tunes" on November 22 on France 3. This is just the type of show Lara excels on, as having a chorus for her voice often raises it to a new level.
As for the fellow participants, tt’s really a “Who’s Who” of French popular singers: in addition to Lara, there are:
Florent Pagny, Roberto Alagna,Nana Mouskouri, Isabelle Boulay, Laëtitia Milot, Dave, Angélique Kidjo,Chimène Badi, Camille et Julie Berthollet, Amaury Vassili,
Jessy, Arielle Dombasle, Béatrice Uria-Monzon,Julie Zenatti, and Andreas Perez Ursulet.

(There are also some nice photos of Lara on tour in the “7 Jours” article).
Lara will be working ‘long days’ as she has heard tell, on The Voice in the coming weeks. We’ll see if that leaves her any time for publicity events; one would think the producers of The Voice would take advantage of her being there. The “300 Choirs” might be one example of the benefit of being in Paris. We’ll see if anything else pops up.

Interesting photo(s) of the week: Of course, Lara at Krutoi’s birthday party

(There are also some nice photos of Lara on tour in the “7 Jours” article).
Lara will be working ‘long days’ as she has heard tell, on The Voice in the coming weeks. We’ll see if that leaves her any time for publicity events; one would think the producers of The Voice would take advantage of her being there. The “300 Choirs” might be one example of the benefit of being in Paris. We’ll see if anything else pops up.
