The theme of the news this past week was Lara’s participation in charity events and ‘causes’.
The last few days she was in Cannes for the ‘Global Gift Initiative’ performance, in support of their charities; her performance was last night. One can see her outfit in this poster,

In a separate 'cause'. on her own website Lara placed a nice ‘imaginary couples’-type photograph of herself with Eva Longoria, at

In another event, Lara will be one of the artists performing on June 27th in support of the people affected by the floods this spring in Canada. Here’s the promotion for it:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.622966977744803/2791047347603411/?type=3&theater
And here’s an article about it (https://globalnews.ca/news/5289169/data-reveals-scope-damage-of-spring-floods-in-quebec-and-new-brunswick/):
----------------------------------------------------
Data reveals scope, damage of spring floods in Quebec and New Brunswick
Statistics Canada says about 17,500 homes were either hit by flooding or deemed at risk — a number that could rise higher as insurance claims come in.
Using satellite data from the Canadian Space Agency and Natural Resources Canada, the agency created maps that show more than 600 square kilometres of flooded land in Manitoba, New Brunswick and Quebec.
That includes some 153 square kilometres of agricultural zone land, which could have a direct impact on the 2019 growing season.
Some municipalities were harder hit than others this spring — particularly in Quebec and New Brunswick.
In Quebec, Pontiac and Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, communities northwest of Montreal, saw 29 and 25 per cent of homes either hit by flooding or deemed at risk.
The New Brunswick communities of Lincoln and Burton as well as Pointe-Calumet, northwest of Montreal, rounded out the top five, with between 15 to 16 per cent of homes in those communities either flooded or at risk.
--------------------------------------------
To make matters worse, there is a new ‘flood zone’ map for Quebec. Here’s an article about that (https://globalnews.ca/news/5290132/new-flood-maps-sainte-marthe-sur-le-lac/):
---------------------------------------
New maps would put hundreds of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac homes in flood plain
While rebuilding efforts are underway in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, new flood zone maps proposed by the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) are making people nervous.
Before the dike broke, only two homes in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac were considered to be in a flood zone, but now the maps are putting hundreds of residents in a flood plain.
Michelle Ellison owns one of those homes.
“We’ve heard so many rumours — so many rumours it’s scary,” said Ellison. “They say from here to the stop, they’re going to be condemned.”
With two major flooding events in the past two years, the CMM had to make updates.
“It will help people to better plan when floods do happen and also maybe rethink where to build new developments, or how to better plan existing developments,” said Brent Edwards, a cartographer with the CMM.
What does it mean? Do we move out? And if we do, where do I go?” asked Ellison.
Guylaine Deschamps is Ellison’s neighbour. She moved into the area last September, but says she says she would never have invested her retirement money there if she had that information.
“It’s very hard because now, we are — I don’t know, I’m in the street,” said Deschamps, who, if her home were condemned, would be homeless just seven months after moving in.
The CMM says a group of experts — including Prof. Pascale Biron, a river dynamics expert with Concordia University — are now working to come up with solutions for people who now find themselves in flood zones.
The group will present a report to the province by June 20.
It will then be up to the government to decide what’s next and whether to approve the maps.

Since the performers in the promotional link Lara included are all French, one gets the feeling that the money raised will be for the victims in Quebec. The problem with out-dated flood plains is not only a Quebec – or Canadian – problem. As the world warms, rainfall is getting heavier, and many places in the U.S. and elsewhere are now at much greater risk. It will probably only get worse…
Lara’s interview on Stingray PausePlay was made available this week, as Lara put it on her FB site, available at:
www.facebook.com/stingray.music/videos/428277007719089/
She talked about how she loved participating on La Voix; mentioned her favorite singers (led by Barbra Streisand, of course, and ending with ‘Panic! at the Disco); the experience she’s gained since the release of her first album nearly 30 years ago; “Papillon”, in particular ‘Desamour’ (the sign behind Lara throughout read “All Good Vibes”, and when discussing this song, in effect Lara spoke about what happens in a toxic relationship when there were no ‘good vibes’); the movies 'Fried Green Tomatoes' and 'Whistle Stop Café'; the little Italian song about Gelato (her favorite ‘kitcsch song); liking to cook, including salad and fish; Beyonce (Halo – which you can find at www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnVUHWCynig); and Lara's upcoming ‘world’ tour and taking her French songs with her. Lara seemed in a very good mood, as seems to be her normal mood since returning to Quebec (outside of her mother’s passing).
And Lara was on “50 min. Inside”, talking about her new life in Quebec (shown on TF1), at
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianBienPlusQuunePassionCorseReunion/videos/819841375055459/
This is a truly wonderful, ‘must see’ program, covering a bit of Lara’s life with Gabriel (she does almost all the talking, naturally), her meeting with people concerning her world tour, her vocal lessons (via computer) with her teacher, and of course La Voix, including the ending, where Lara’s “powerhouse” candidate Genevieve won. It was done in a wonderful spirit, filling in for people in France what her existence is like in Quebec.
Lara and her team have slowly been adding additional events to her ’50 World Tour’, especially in Russia for next October (Voronehz; Kazan). Though noted on her FB site in the news section, they’ve not yet been added to the Events page. The same is true for her appearance in Minsk, also in October.
[The time to stop commenting on the position of Papillon on the different charts is when it falls out of the top 100 in Belgium – which means ‘now’].
Interesting photo(s) of the week: Lara from her Instagram site,
with the caption, “A Saturday in @sarahpacini_official... what a comfort... I feel so good 😝😘”
(Sarah Pacini is known for cardigans, jackets and sweaters).
Since she's now over in Europe, it’s conceivable Lara will be spending some time there. There’s nothing obviously pressing in Quebec (except for her family). In a way, her summer schedule has already started, so we can expect less activity (and shorter News Updates!) in the months ahead. Of course, we may be surprised.
