Lara’s promotion trip to France and Belgium ended last week after 19 days of non-stop events. There are a few more to report, mostly in line with the previous activities. And then there was the first of the ‘duels’ for La Voix.
Starting with the remaining promotional activities, here are several more articles/interviews. First, an article printed in English from (https://indulgemagazine.com/2019/03/22/lara-fabian-returns-with-papillon/?fbclid=IwAR2HMvwdoFkQbzfGkaEQ_Rm5zWehtUeJjMpDS5DoD1-_p5fuet5UUcQ_Pic):

Interview: Lara Fabian Returns with “Papillon”
Lara Fabian is back with a new French language album, Papillon, and opens up in an exclusive about what inspired her and the importance of living in the present moment.
INDULGE: It’s been more than 4 years since you have released a French album. Tell us about how and why you were inspired to do so now with Papillon?
LARA: Perhaps because of the new events in my life. The return to Quebec to coach in La Voix and being able to give back and work with young talent inspired me.
INDULGE: Why the title Papillon (Butterfly)?
LARA: Because this album is an ode to life. I’m making an analogy with those little hours in the journey of this majestic insect. If we only had 24 hours before us, how would we live our lives? We would really taste it. This is the message of the album.
INDULGE: Almost all the titles have to do with love.
LARA: I’m an incurable romantic. It’s in my DNA as a woman and a singer.
INDULGE: Wasn’t “farfalla” (Papillon in Italian) also your nickname as a child?
LARA: Yes, my grandmother had given me a butterfly as a totem. I was indeed a child who worried easily, who asked a lot of questions. She had given it to me to remind me of the importance of being in the here and now, of living the moment.
INDULGE: And this has become your philosophy in life now.
LARA: Yes, I’m lucky. I’m surrounded by love and kindness. When I open my door after a day of work, my daughter Lou and my husband Gabriel offer nurturing. This happiness I get from my family helps me to age gracefully.
INDULGE: Your mother suffers from Lewy Body Dementia – a mix of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. How are you handling this, and has this also influenced you?
LARA: My mom is very sick. We are in a relatively sad phase of the disease. We do the best we can. You know, you’re never ready to lose a parent. It’s very difficult. But it forces us to enjoy life while she is there. This disease is a great lesson for me in being in the here and now.
Lara Fabian’s “Papillon” is available worldwide including on iTunes (US) and Amazon.

What are you doing this weekend Lara Fabian?
In full promotion with her 14th album, Papillon, the singer gave us a little interview to talk about her busy weekend and her homecoming in Montreal.
BY SIGRID DESCAMPS. PHOTO DR |MARCH 21, 2019
Canada's most beautiful voice
This weekend, I will be in Montreal. Saturday morning, I work with my talents of La Voix ( the Quebec version of The Voice, Ed .). This is the second year that I take the role of coach. I do not know how it works in Belgium and France, but here, there is a lot of involvement of coaches towards young artists. This represents six months of work, during which we lead them, we advise them, and I hope, we inspire them. I have talents from several generations, including a beautiful 40 year old woman. This Saturday, we will focus on the benefits and the choice of titles of the first live.
This role of coach is another way of doing my job as a singer, which pushes us to wear several hats. Throughout the period of La Voix, I continue to work on the promotion of Papillon and after that, it will be the preparation of the 50 tour, with which I will travel 50 cities around the world. With a key stage in Brussels, where I will celebrate my 30 years of career and my 50 years!
Shopping and restaurant
In the afternoon, I do not know what I'm going to do yet. It will depend on when I finish the job. But if by chance, you come to Montreal, it has some nice shops to discover. My favorite is UNTTLD, on William Street, in an art gallery. It is the studio of two young passionate fashion designers, José and Simon. They imagine incredible pieces! Otherwise, Montreal is a very cosmopolitan city where you will find almost all the cuisines of the world. One of my favorite places is Milos, a Greek restaurant on Park Avenue.
Family brunch
One of our weekend rituals is family brunch. I leave the kitchen to my daughter, Lou, 11, who is crazy about pastry. She prepares wonderful crepes with fresh fruit compotes to die for. Lou comes from a long line of women passionate about cooking, of which I am a part, and who have a taste for good things. She grew up with this love of the table.
Myself, I love to cook. I particularly like Japanese and Italian cuisines. I own a lot of cookbooks, which I regard more like a beautiful documentary (laughs). I cook more instinctively, inspired by recipes including inherited from my grandmother.
Pilates and yoga
We like to go for a long walk in our neighborhood, which is a very pretty English village. As for sports, I must admit that I am not a big sportswoman (laughs), but when I have time, I practice pilates and hatha yoga. I have my subscription in a room near us. It's a friend who introduced me to this discipline to which I was immediately hooked. It frees my head.
Evening couch
On Sunday night, we will all curl up in the couch in front of a Netflix series or a good movie. I love watching movies that marked me with my daughter. Among my favorites, there is ‘Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain’ of Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Lasse Hallström's ‘Chocolate’ and Jon Avnet's ‘Beignets de tomates vertes’. I do not get enough of them. And as you will have noticed, we come back to the kitchen again (laughs).

Lara was in ICI ARTV, on L’Effet Wow, to answer questions, with the video available at:

And Lara was on ‘Sud Radio Loft Music (https://www.sudradio.fr/loft-music-sud-radio-2019-03-21). The close to 1 hour show focused of course on the new album and Lara’s continued fascination with the ‘mystery of love’; and as such it included older songs as well, starting with “Je t’aime” and including “Tu es mon autre” associated with the topic of Maurane. Suprisingly, Lara’s version of “Papa Can You Hear Me” was played (maybe for the first time on French radio! – justified perhaps since it was written by Michel Legrand), as part of a discussion of vocal technique. Also covered (of course), her interaction with Johnny Hallyday as a defining moment in her career. The last ~20 minutes focused on the ‘contemporary’ sound of the new album (e.g., Je suis a toi; Par Amour; Papillon). The program can perhaps be most easily heard by downloading it first.
Lara provided a visual record of her passage back from Europe to the life in Quebec via her Instagram account. Here are the images/short videos, and their captions:

Scenes with Lara Fabian unpublished for the album

The scenes showing Lara Fabian will be exclusively reserved for the album
As you know, Lara Fabian will support the release of Volume 2 of "My Dads & Me" and will be present in the album, whose episodes are visible on this site every Tuesday and Friday. But those who follow the series for a long time know it, the entirety of the episodes is never unveiled in full. Thus, several scenes are thus exclusively reserved for the album, in order to offer new content for this one. This will be the case of the passage of Lara Fabian, whose passages will be visible only in the next volume. This is not a first for a guest to be so reserved for an album. In the previous album of "My Dads & Me", it is the passages with Line Renaud that have been cut.
For the news about volume 2, still in progress, it should also contain more pages than the previous ones. The information should also start arriving soon enough, funding for the album to be launched in April on Ulule!
-----------------------------------------------------
As to how well the promotion is working: Papillon is #4 in Belgium (unchanged), in its sixth week. On the Palmares adisq chart in Quebec, it is #3. In France, on lescharts.com, it is #56, up 7 positions from the previous week.
Now for La Voix: the first of the duels took place the Sunday before last. Here are some highlights:
**There was a change this year – no ‘mentor’, so the decision is made by the ‘judge’ alone, and relatively instantly.
**For Lara, first duel involved two of the male singers, Christian Marc Gendron vs. Eric Bernier, holding forth on “L’envie d’aimer” from Dix Commandments. Lara said going in that it was going to be an impossible choice, and she hoped one of them would fly her away. Their performance was sensational – everyone agreed it was quite a way to begin the duels. Lara chose Christian Marc Gendron. She said it was very sad for her to have to choose.
**In Lara’s other duel, between Dahlia and Morey Hatem, Lara herself had problems. She originally chose ‘The Prayer’ (which she had done in duet with Michael Bolton), and that was a big favorite for both candidates. They had spent time practicing it, when Lara then changed her mind, deciding to switch to ‘Je vais t’aimer’. This was problematic especially for Morey, who didn’t really know where his voice was to be placed. Lara was ‘forced’ to go back to “The Prayer’, and in the end, she chose Morey. She did say that Dahlia’s ‘hummingbird voice’ was unique, and that she is so young there is room for it to grow. [Had they stayed with Lara’s second choice, Dahlia might well have won].
**The oddest competition of the night was Alex putting together Tony Sky, a rap singer doing a number from Manu Militar, in duo with Briana Victoria, singing a refrain from Sia. It was quite interesting, probably something that has never been heard before on La Voix. Briana was chosen the winner, and they thanked Tony Sky for introducing rap to the show. [Lara said that Briana was a potential finals candidate].
**Because of the legal problems with one of Eric’s candidates, they just showed the rehearsal of the eventual winner of their duel.
**Based on their respective comments going into the competition, it seems as if the men wanted the duel performance to be as good as possible – while the women really wanted to win! In the six competitions with mixed genders, three men and three women were victorious.
**The judges noted that it is quite difficult to find a song that doesn’t disadvantage one candidate or another, especially because they’ve only heard each of them sing one song (during the blind audition). Lara added that it also has to be a song that the candidates love to sing. Add to this the problem of choosing in some quite close contests, and being a judge in this show is definitely not an easy task.
**IMHO, the judges pretty much made the right choices of winners throughout, including Lara.
Interesting photo of the week: undoubtedly that of Lara and Gabriel, or “the magician and his unicorn”, from the collection put together by the ‘Lara Fabian Coeur de lumiere’ site, and extracted by the Lara Fabian web site,

Lara was in ICI ARTV, on L’Effet Wow, to answer questions, with the video available at:
www.facebook.com/iciartv/videos/341749149784633/
**When asked “what’s the biggest advantage and biggest disadvantage of being Lara Fabian”, she replied the biggest advantage is to do what she loves to do most, and to transmit and share emotion with her audience. Her name gives her that chance for that resonance. The biggest disadvantage is that when she has to redo her wooden staircase, it’s going to cost more because of her name.
**The next question was about the name for her new album, and Lara mentioned the story about her grandmother trying to get her to worry less and live more in the moment. That sentiment allowed her to make the album quite quickly in her Montreal home.
**Then she was asked what was the strangest message she ever received from an admirer. She replied it was not a written message, it was a pair of underpants that she was asked to sign. Her bodyguard Yannick didn’t want her to sign them, but she wanted to; he told her to put on gloves.
**When asked at what age she discovered she had a beautiful voice, she mentioned 5 years old, and told the story about being out in the car with her father when she showed him she was able to vocalize what Eve Brenner was doing on the radio. Lara then told him ‘she was a singer’, and he said, ‘o.k.’, and then told that to her mother.
**They then discussed her duet with Johnny Hallyday.
**As to the event of her life that most marked her, Lara answered probably the birth of her daughter. It made her feel like she was in another dimension, like in the Twilight zone.
**She was then asked how her public in Belgium has reacted to her having left them for Quebec, where she had lived for 13 years. She said she would tell them that being offered the chance to return to Quebec, to be on the show and transmit her knowledge to young singers has been one of the most beautiful things of her life.
**She then got an ‘outside’ question from Sonia Benezra, who asked whether Lara has found that Europe is more open culturally than Quebec. For example, for songs in different languages (which is clearly her point of view). Lara however felt that Quebec had an infinitely superior open culture, with great creativity such as Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Robert Lepage, the Moment Factory, which she called "the best in the world, proportionately".
**When asked what song will you not tire of singing, Lara answered “Je t’aime”, all over the world. The program ended with Lara singing it while the record played.
For the news about volume 2, still in progress, it should also contain more pages than the previous ones. The information should also start arriving soon enough, funding for the album to be launched in April on Ulule!

And so it will be for the foreseeable future - aside from the left-over appearances in France that will be broadcast in the coming week(s) - Lara back in Montreal, focused on La Voix. Easier for her to live a less fragmented life (and easier for those of us who can have shorter News Updates!). David
