Lapayin, welcome to the forum. I really enjoyed reading your review, because it brought a new dimension of the album to me. It made me think of some of the songs in ways I haven't thought about before, that's what I love about talking about music with other people because different people pick up different things and it makes music so much more beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Great to have you on board. I would like to thank you personally for the great English translations (without them I would not have had such a good understanding of the album). It seems like we both agree on two things 1 - a central theme of the album ("Lara Searching For..." and your "Hope" theme is very much the same. If we combine it it can also be "Lara Hoping For...") and 2 - the fact that you have to view the album in another way than her previous albums. Please contribute more, we would appreciate it very much.
O and Shavon, while revamping an already great site, please don't let it be offline too long, we won't surivive, especially me ;D

Thanks Ocelot and Cppgenius for the welcome.
The translations were done by someone else (DavidR), I just passed them along. He has translated all of Lara's songs including the ones from her TV appearances. If you want any just let me know.
This is a great site for conversation. I enjoy everyone's point of view.

Lapayin,
Welcome to FullOfGrace!
I cannot tell you enough just how much your first few posts here mean to me! They are absolutely brilliant! I have a newfound love and appreciation for "9" because of your review. It's an album that I already strongly support. But I have fewer "mixed feelings" about it now that you have shared your commentary (be they your words or those of another, you still shared them with us.)
I'm glad that you like what you see here. It's a great site for sure! Shavon has created a wonderful place for Lara fans! And the discussions are really great because there is a lot of respect for each other here even if we don't always agree. Shavon's one and only rule is friendliness toward one another.
I am really excited to have you here, and hope that you become a regular contributor. The rest us us here would be the better for it!
Mark

Lapayin,
Let me also comment that I think you are so right about how "9" should be taken as a whole. I guess my review was just my observation that I've heard a lot said about "9" not being all that great of an album. I contend that it is a great album, and that there are a lot of really wonderful songs on it. Sometimes preconceived notions must be removed before you can fully appreciate what the other person is truly trying to convey. In that regard, I think you have corrected my perception of the album as a whole.
From a purely listening experience, however, I still maintain that the album is a bit 'jumpy.' But I feel much better about it from having read your posts. Again, thanks for sharing!

Thank you all for making me feel sooooo welcome. I look forward to our future discussions.
BTW Mark the commentary was mine - the translations from DavidR. Sorry for the confusion.
I too have heard that a lot of people's did not think highly of 9, especially the videos. I loved the videos and thought them to be very well done. Perhaps they missed the lack of power from Lara. My thinking is Lara is so diversified I want to hear it all. I am amazed at the way she changes the style of some of her songs and they are just as good.

Well, let there be no confusion about this.....your commentary was brilliant!
It's interesting that you feel the way that you do about the videos. I feel the same! Not a big fan of the music video because I think music is better served without it, but these videos were very effective in my opinion. Also, each one was very unique. All of them were beautiful.
I most agree with you about Lara's diversity and wanting all that she has to offer! That's something of a discussion in itself really. I mean to say, Lara may not have played to the expectation of her fans on "9", and she certainly toned down from her traditional powerful style. That said, it's still remarkable to me how she not only chose to go in a different direction with "9", but also mastered it as well as she did!

lapayin Please send me those translations, I will love to have them. You'll find my e-mail in my profile. I'm looking for a translation of the show Le Grand Blond (TVA - Québec Part 1 and 2) where Lara appeared on (You can find the videos on forum.aceboard.net/38688-942-15046-0-Retrouvez-toutes-videos.htm)If anyone know where I can find a translation please let me know.

This album introduced just another facet of Lara's immense talent. By working with JFL, it is quite apparent that he opened her up to using her voice as an instrument in the songs. As much as I appreciate this album, I still miss the powerhouse vocals that Lara is capable of doing so well. I don't want her screaming, but I find after I listen to this album, I usually don't play it again for some time....don't know why. Whereas I can play NUE over and over and never tire of her voice or the songs.
Just my 2 cents.
