Yeah, I know what you mean Joanna! She truly is beautiful, and the quality on this album and DVD are exceptional indeed. I love the song selection very much.
Wow! You saw her on this tour?! You will have to tell us more about it!

For me "9" was a good album, but I much preferred "NUE" and "En Toute Intimite". Now they were beautiful albums.
In "9" I find Lara too subdued for my liking and less of a risk taker. That may have been due to JFL and his influence on her at the time as producer and her lover.
Just my 2 cents.

I happen to like the "9" album a lot for the very reasons that you say that you don't like it, Bev, but I certainly appreciate your 'two cents'.
It seems to me that most Lara fans agree with you about this.
There are a lot of very beautiful songs on this album, and even some variety of styles. I maintain my opinion that each of these songs are much better when performed live.
As a life-long Bruce Springsteen fan, I do not see this album as being less risk-taking for Lara. Rather, I think of the album as one that was in her heart and needed to be made....for herself.
I think Lara is passionate about this album, and proud of it. I am too!

For me it is the songs rather than the album. But if I had to chose the all around better of the two albums I would have to go with Nue (althought it should not come to anyone's surprise, at FOG, that Carpe Diem is right up there). There are great songs on both albums. I feel 9, when listened to as a whole album, is more cohesive and easier to listen to. I do listen to 9 more than I do Nue. I watch "Lara Fabian Live 2002" and "En Toute Intimite" more than I do "Un Regard 9". Go figure.
Was it JFL's influence? Probably and probably where Lara's mindset was at the time. To me Lara seems to be maturing and trying new things. I think Nue was a kind of transition album for her. Great songs with the power of old like "Parce Que Tu Pars", heartwrenching like "Je Suis Mon Coeur". These are classic Lara. Then there were the soul searching type songs "Tu Es Mon Autre" and "Bambina". Those types of songs followed into 9. Most songs in 9 are message songs.

Review of the Album 9 (2021)
I find the discussion from 2005 interesting here, back then of course very topical with regard to the not so long ago albums by Lara Fabian, Nue and AWL.
In the criticism, the discussants seemed to agree that the composition of the songs does not follow a dominant musical style in accordance with the previous albums. ("no flow" and "kind of jump around") I myself look at this album in 2021 from a completely different perspective and context. Of course, this has to do with the fact that I don't follow the chronological order of my previous discussants. I rather jump back and forth in time, which is why the argument of a changeable music style on this album has no relevance for me at all, especially since Lara Fabian has always more or less changed her style of music in the course of her career. And yes the pieces of music from this Album are really very different. Elements of classical music alternate with elements from jazz, country, poetry, french chanson and pop. And the most amazing thing for me is that Lara Fabian sings each of these styles as if she had never sung anything else. It is precisely this versatility and this credibility that makes "9" one of the most beautiful albums of this decade for me. After the final separation from Rick Allison, Lara Fabian was certainly looking for a new direction for her music, so to speak, and therefore the album somehow has an experimental character, which is what makes it so exciting. So this album will definitely have one or more songs ready for every listener that they like. I personally think all the songs on this album are just great. However, my personal favorites are: 1. Rien qu'une seul larme youtu.be/AcTkdV8r2mo (I love this song) 2. Je me souviens youtu.be/Yu7iwEX96M43. Il ne manquait que toi youtu.be/WRJjDtdeLMoNow my question to the community. What are your favorite songs from this album?
