Just in case anyone is interested, I attended two musical performances last year that were a whole world away from the venue’s we are use to seeing the Fabulous Fabian perform in. It’s the world of the Indie artists. But you know what? I found these performances just as thrilling as the multi thousand seat venues of the mega-corporate backed pop stars - maybe even more so. It was just some good ol’ down home fun - as we say in Texas. I even wrote about the experience and posted it on my typepad.com website. I’ll just give you the link to the posts instead of re-posting it here, if you don’t mind. There are all kinds of pictures and stuff and it would be much easier for me this way. “On the Indie road – Monday Night, A different kind of venue” jimfromtexas.typepad.com/indies/2007/03/on_the_indie_ro.html“On the Indie Road – Tuesday Night, Songwriters in the round.” jimfromtexas.typepad.com/indies/2007/03/on_the_indie_ro_1.htmlBesides, this is the site I will use when I get ready to start finding a publisher for my writing. So don’t worry, you don’t really have to read anything if you don’t want too. But please feel free to log on as much as you like. You see, it’s a numbers game at this point in my writing career. The more hits a publisher sees on this site, the more likely they are take a closer look at my stuff Anyway, it was Ache Beautiful who invited me to post my stuff here. So, if anyone takes exception to this, I will be happy to get you his personal phone number. Then you can call him a 3:30 in the morning to bless him out about it. Jim

Well, I admit that it was I who encouraged Jim to post his writings here for the rest of us to enjoy, and I have been waiting for quite some time for him to do so. This is very exciting to me, and I am appreciative to Jim for taking me up on the offer.
That said, if anyone does take exception to it, I would be more than happy to give you my phone number personally. Drop me an email and I'll give it to you; you can then call me at 3:30 AM and receive the fullness of my blessings! LOL
I hope that everyone will take a moment to read these fine articles. They have me longing for more.
Here are the comments I wrote after reading each one:
"Monday Night, A Different Kind Of Venue"
Thanks to Jim for a great article! I say great for three reasons;one being that it is very well written, another being that it made me feel as if I was actually there with him from the ride getting there to the conclusion of the concert, and finally because I am completely jealous that I wasn't able to have actually been there to see it for myself.
One thing that I can't help thinking about with regards to this performance is that it will probably be one of the most memorable for you. The intimacy of it all, and the authentic acoustic feel must truly be an experience like no other.
I also think it is noteworthy and commendable that you gave appreciation to Trish and Allen for their hospitality and support of such an event. We cannot write enough good stories about good people doing good things. It's people like them who keep this fallen world from falling even further, and it's people like you who give people like me hope for a better day simply because you write about their generosity and kindness. Why should such goodness be relegated to a room full of people in a house, when the power of your pen can spread it the world over?
Good work, very interesting and informative.
"Tuesday Night, Songwriters In The Round"
I absolutely love your ability to write in such a way that one feels as if they are actually experiencing everything as they read it! Or, maybe it's your ability to make one feel as if they were! Either way, the intimate details of sharing an evening like this do well in allowing the reader as much as possible, so that reading your article is the closest thing to actually having been there too. That's just good stuff!
How I wish I could have joined you both Monday and Tuesday night!

Great article Jim. I enjoyed reading them and your writing is excellent, but then I have always enjoyed your stories.
I am not familiar with Indie artists, so I learned a lot from your article.
I had read a while ago that the trend for singers was to downsize - smaller venues. When the Rolling Stones were performing in the Boston area they did some small 1,000 or less venues.
Thanks Mark for encouraging Jim to post here.
