"The house we hope to build is not for my generation but for yours. It is your future that matters. And I hope that when you are my age, you will be able to say as I have been able to say: We lived in freedom. We lived lives that were a statement, not an apology."
~ Ronald Reagan

Great quote! The problem is: I don't see that in the world's leaders today because our leaders seem to be living for the next election and not thinking of 10 years down the line when they will be out of office. That quote tells so much about Ronald Reagan and the legacy he left.

Exactly correct, Leona, with regard to politicians. Unfortunately for Republicans like myself, elections will continue to be lost because of this. Right now there is NOBODY in the Republican or Democratic Parties that comes close to the type of leader that Reagan was.
Worse yet, and as your most recent song tackles, the problem extends far beyond politicians and leaders. The culture is now egocentric and narcissistic, thinking only of one's self. This is not to be misunderstood for pessimism or negativity. I still believe that love exists in this world. But as far as the Western world is considered, that love used to form our ideas into the very nations that we are. I seriously have to wonder if that same love is carrying us through to the next generation, and if it will sustain us as a people united.
