I started this thread because I saw Mark's post in the What are you listening to thread and I'm always ready to check out great artists. My artist is Delta Goodrem. She's an Australian singer/songwriter that plays the piano. Some of her music is quite poppy (more so her first album) but she's an amazing songwriter. Her second album, Mistaken Identity, is amazing it has impacted me through hard times. She just released her first US single she didn't before before she was diagosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (cancer) and went into treatment. Here is her website www.deltagoodrem.com. This is also a great website to check out some of her music www.mistakenidentity.tk.

Hey, excellent idea for a post! Thanks! I will be sure to look into Delta goodrem, as I am always seeking new music. Lately I have been listening to (other than Lara's English debut, of course) the Lucia Micarelli cd that I have mentioned, and also Kean "Hopes And Fears". I love piano- driven pop-rock, not only for the musical style, but also because it usually adds up to much smarter lyrics for some reason! Anyway, I'm liking the labum very much. It has a nice, crisp sound, and the vocalist has a very good voice.

A friend of mine went to Live8 in London, and came back speaking of a group called "Travis". I went and bought their album, "Singles" today, and am enjoying it very much!

Shavon has often mentioned Tina Arena in her posts, and I have otherwise never even heard of her (maybe I live a very sheltered life, huh). Well, today I was browsing at Borders and came across one of Tina's cds, an older one, entitled "In Deep". Of course I bought it! I have to tell you that I like her very much. She really has a lot of heart, and the album builds and builds from the very first song to the last. "Burn", "If I Was A River", "Unsung Hero", "I Want To Know What Love Is", and "I Want To Spend My Lifetime loving You", are exceptional songs on the album, but all of them are very good. I grew up listening to Foreigner, and saw them in concert three times (I'm old!), so I really enjoyed the respect that she gave to the song, "I Want To Know What Love Is". It's not an exact cover of the song; she definately makes it her own (which is what an artist should do), but she captures the feeling of the song in the listener as well as Foreigner did (who wrote it). It's an amazing song, and a universal one as well. I noticed that Mick Jones of Foreigner produced it. He must be proud of Tina's version keeping the spirit of the song alive for the next generation of music lovers. Anyway, you can be sure that I will be seeking more of Tina's music, because she is a very good artist! Thanks to Shavon for helping me discover her.

I'm glad you liked it. Tina is great! My favorite songs on "In Deep" are, "No Shame", "If I Didn't Love You", "Sixteen Years", I Wanna Live With You", "In Command", and "I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You".

Well, all of them are good, but I will stick with the picks I have mentioned as the best on the album....with the exception of "Sixteen Years". I have to agree with you on that.

If you like hard rock, I think you should check out "30 Seconds to Mars". I think they are quite unique and really haven't been given much notice. They definitely aren't the normal hard rock band, I remember one critic said that they are like a rock band in outer space. My favourite songs are The Mission, Edge of the Earth, The Story, A Beautiful Lie, Attack and From Yesterday.

Okay, Leona! I went out and got "30 Seconds To Mars" and like them very much! So far the best thing I like about them is their ability to play hard and not be mean about it. So much of the hard stuff today is mean. Do I sound old? Another thing I like is that they don't constantly have to be hard...they tone it down some. I like the variety. Very good stuff! Shavon, would you like a listen also? Let me know!

Cindy Morgan is my favourite Christian artist out there. She sings mostly music with a Christian themes, but her music is fairly deep compared to alot of "Christian" artists out there. My favourite songs are Miracle in the Making, Last Days, In These Rooms, and Golden Rain.

From the lyrics that you have shared, I have to admit that I am more than interested in hearing her music. Thank you for the recommendation, and I will "check her out."

Leona, I just received the package you sent me and am listening to Cindy Morgan for the third straight time since getting it! I really want to listen to Delta Goodrem also, but Cindy Morgan is so amazing to me that I just can't get enough of her! Thank you so much for this! I, too, like the songs that you mention, but must include "I Know You", "I'll Stand", and "Someone Believes In You." She's a great artist!

I think we need to make Cindy Morgan a "Full Of Grace Artist" because I have been so blessed by this music! I have so much to share about what her music is doing for me, and need a place to do it! Wow!
