This past week Lara followed up her ‘Instagram’ apology from last week that informed fans in Romania about the need to cancel her three concerts due to illness with some more messages. First, on her Instagram account at
was the statement, “Thanks for all your messages and kind words .... Some news on your postponed shows from this week :
Craiova has been rescheduled to Feb 2nd 2020
Bucharest the 3rd Feb. (due to availability this will now be one show, please contact Eventim to exchange your tickets by Jan 10th)
Again apologies for the inconvenience and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all there....
Love 💕💋”
Then, on her Facebook account, she wrote, “So some good news with regards to the postponed shows this last week, we have managed to reschedule the Craiova show to a much earlier date of the 12th December and with help from our Athens promoter, move that show to 1st February 2020. Bucharest will remain on the 3rd February as we announced earlier this week....
Look forward to seeing you all....
Love 💋💕💋”
But in-between she posted the following photo on her FB account of herself (looking healthy and happy) and the other judges standing in front of the famous red chairs of 'The Voice:la plus belle voix',
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.622966977744803/3314837705224370/?type=3&theater
With the (translated) statement, “What a beautiful first day of shooting yesterday with my comrades @inst_amel @marclavoineofficiel @pascalobispo for the 9th season of @thevoice _ Tf1! Thank you to the talents for offering us such beautiful performances... and to the production for shaping such a beautiful show....
What beautiful true moments of music we shared... it's just the beginning and I'm already looking forward to discovering the next ones.... ✌🏼💋 #Thevoice #Coach”
While people were generally pleased to see her in that role, it did lead to some comments like this one:” Yes yesterday I saw everything cancelled and today recorded. Not clear this story.. She gave up her tours to record the words. . Maybe it's worth more...”
Lara must then have become aware of the optics of the situation for the next step she took was to record a video that she placed on her Facebook and Instagram sites,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/1461644964003090/
She said, “Hi everyone, well, as you know I was ill last weekend and had to postpone a couple of shows. It was a difficult situation where I overbalanced, I couldn’t stand up, simply, it was really weird, it was not any kind of illness that is a secret or anything, I just couldn’t stand up. It was Miniere Disease which leaves you totally stranded and you just can’t stay up on your feet. So thankfully, though, we could get the right medicine and within a couple of days, three days, I could stand up again and was able to start the show at The Voice. I want to thank you all for this amazing support and all your kind notes, it really meant a lot to me and we will see you in Craiova on the 12th of December, we were able to put the date a little closer to the end of the year and, again, thank you for your understanding and your extraordinary patience. I appreciate it. All my love to you.”
From the ‘Merck Manual’ here’s a discussion of Miniere Disease:
-------------------------------
Meniere disease is a disorder characterized by recurring attacks of disabling vertigo (a false sensation of moving or spinning), fluctuating hearing loss (in the lower frequencies), and noise in the ear (tinnitus).
Symptoms include sudden, unprovoked attacks of severe, disabling vertigo, nausea, and vomiting, usually along with sensations of pressure in the ear and hearing loss.
Doctors usually perform hearing tests and sometimes magnetic resonance imaging.
A low-salt diet and a diuretic may lower the severity and frequency of attacks.
Drugs such as meclizine or lorazepam may help relieve vertigo symptoms but will not prevent attacks.
Meniere disease is thought to be caused by an excess amount of the fluid that is normally present in the inner ear. Fluid in the ear is held in a pouch-like structure called the endolymphatic sac. This fluid is continually being secreted and reabsorbed, maintaining a constant amount. Either an increase in production of inner ear fluid or a decrease in its reabsorption results in excess fluid. Why either happens is not known. This disease typically occurs in people between the ages of 20 and 50 years.
---------------------------------
One wonders whether this is related to the ear incident she had five years ago, and whether she has had this before. Ironic that it would come just shortly before her 50th birthday, after which its frequency apparently decreases. The important thing is that they did know how to treat it, and she seems o.k. now (though she looked a big haggard in the video). The whole episode had to be traumatic for her, as it would be for anyone.
So…moving on…Lara is now actively on “The Voice: la plus belle”. The Lara Fabian web FB site posted a link to a photo from Thierry Martino showing Lara’s little area there, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianweb/photos/a.247913198557556/3232330686782444/?type=3&theater
BTW, it’s significant that this picture came from Thierry Martino, because apparently he is Lara’s new Manager and Marketing Agent. His Instagam account is at
www.instagram.com/thierry_martino/?igshid=146wfyc0anuc2&fbclid=IwAR0NJKWuGJWr3LPd5wi-zwQfxgykjkv7nQW5SaUssVIgfi4F_3GIRobOGvo
and if you subscribe to that account, apparently you can access various photos and news about Lara (or will be able to). Matt Ersin, her previous manager and Odacity the company he was associated with, seem to have dropped out of the picture, after his being executive producer of Papillon (at least there is no news connecting them for the past number of months).
An article about the new season can be found at www.nouveautes-tele.com/111266-the-voice-9-2020-sur-tf1.html; here are the chief points:
• The Voice was losing audience, perhaps because the talent was not good enough, and the judges were not in accord with one another.
• Which resulted in them choosing four new judges – however, if one of the complaints was that the judges did not represent youth, that’s still not the case.
• Maybe it’s not the judges, maybe people are just tired of this game.
• The season will be shortened, so there will be 14 weeks instead of 18 weeks. In short 1 month less broadcast. As a result, coaches will have fewer candidates on their team.
• No more theft of candidates between judges.
• The coaches will now be able to turn around even if the talent is not chosen.
• There will once again be a debriefing of the eliminated candidate.
In other news, there was a big march against gender based violence in Paris on November 23rd, the ““Nous Toutes” movement (the French equivalent of the “Me Too” movement). A long video showing it can be found at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_-NM7zO-90
It’s relevance here is that during it, Lara’s song “La Difference” was played, and people sang along and cheered. A portion of this is shown here
www.facebook.com/larafabianweb/videos/2628956657183036/
Lara also followed up on her Instagram account,
and wrote, “International Day [11/25] Against Violence Against Women ... "If one day I had to lower my head, it would only be to admire my shoes"
I love this quote ✌🏼 #journeecontrelaviolencefaiteauxfemmes”
Lara was one of the featured performers on the show “300 choeurs chantant les plus grands air classique” during the week. She got to sing ‘Adagio’, and, to be frank, I was worried for her, and she looked a bit anxious herself. But like a trooper, she pulled it off, hitting all the notes, although not without effort. More power to her. The chorus performed in a competent way behind her, though without great originality. It can be seen at,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8WPgxbD_Tw
The “Lara Fabian bien plus q’une passion. Corse reunion” FB site, prior to Lara’s appearance, had posted the video of Lara singing this song 20 years ago at the World Music Awards. That can be seen, on youtube, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rUn610MxAA
The difference in voice between ages 30 and 50…
Interesting photo(s) of the week: Several weeks ago we posted the interview Lara gave
for “"Bijouterie Italienne 192 Magazine”. The article has come out in the “Nouvelles Questions de femmes”, and the beautiful photos of Lara in it are worth another look, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/a.353954938084519/1919621431517854/?type=3&theater
So Lara is, hopefully, well again, and totally absorbed in the filming of the blind auditions for The Voice. She obviously has less ‘moving around’ than during a concert, but it still requires a lot of work and attention. Hopefully her condition is such that she can be at her best – it would be nice for the audience in France to see that, as the one in Quebec has.

The rest of this is really off-topic but…
In response, the government in France announced they would be spending 360 million euros to implement measures such as seizing firearms from abusive spouses and better training of police. Abusers would be required to wear electronic bracelets, and there will be 1,000 new places in shelters for battered women. At least 138 women have been killed by current or former partners this year in France; many had reported abuse to police. Lara’s song “Llora” comes to mind…more than 1,000 women in Spain have been killed by partners or former partners in the last 15 years, and tens of thousands marched across that country on Monday. Lara was one of the featured performers on the show “300 choeurs chantant les plus grands air classique” during the week.
