This past week Lara’s people officially announced the new tour for 2019/2020, entitled "50", with a poster:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359/2451021588272657/?type=3&theater.
A video promo for it (from the Lara Fabian web FB site) can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFY8rXWnpBI
and another very cute one at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbxyvIdFyEM
Her people said, “Lara Fabian will be celebrating her 50th anniversary with a unique show, comprising the music from more then 25 years of career. More concert dates (with several dates in France and Belgium, but also Canada and other countries will be announced, as/when we get the information.”
And the concert dates as shown in the poster are January 9th in Brussels (note - that is her 50th birth day), and March 24 and 25 in Paris. Tickets are already available for both shows, and they appear on the Events portion of Lara’s FB site (unlike the Russian shows discussed in the News Update last week).
(1) Given that the tour is stated as being 2019/2020, it’s fairly probable that it will start in October, as we had heard previously and as the suggested Russian dates indicate. In that regard, the Russian date for Moscow at least – October 7th – seems real. It is listed on the official site for the concert hall – “Crocus Hall” - crocus-hall.ru/en/events/. The reported date for St. Petersburg, October 10th – therefore seems likely to be real as well.
(2) There is a big break between the Brussels and Paris dates – not something we ordinarily see (for Camouflage, they were separated by one week). Is Lara picking and choosing times that leave open the possibility of another season of La Voix during the winter of 2020 - and the Brussels date was shoe-horned in earlier to celebrate her birthday in her birth town?
(3) The information says “several dates” in France and Belgium – taken literally (and that is an assumption), it implies there may not be any extensive tour throughout France and Belgium for the new French language album, as had once been indicated (by statements made when Camouflage was first released).
(4) Using the “50” aspect of it, for her 50th birthday (aka ‘anniversary’) and thus having the show advertise that it will be comprised of selections from her full career certainly suggests it will not be a tour to specifically promote Papillon, though that may be well-represented. If there is not very much from Papillon, it would certainly be a surprise –it would be perhaps the only time Lara has released a new album and the following tour was not done directly to promote it. It does, however, allow her to sing English language songs as well during the concert, perhaps broadening the list of countries she can visit (thus included in the “Canada and other countries” terminology used in the announcement).
(5) For what it’s worth, the blurb associated with the Russian concert in Moscow indicated that it was in support of the new album (https://biletmarket.ru/events/75102/Lara_Fabian_07.10.2019_bilety?utm_source=vk&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=Lara_Fabian_07.10.2019), as (google) translated below:

Lara Fabian (Lara Fabian) returns to the scene of world concert venues! This time, the star is preparing to present to fans, including those from Russia, completely new material from the upcoming album “Papillon”.
The first single from Lara Fabian’s new album, consisting of 11 songs, was the eponymous “Papillon” (“Butterfly”), for which the singer has already managed to present a video. In the unhurried, but colorful video, Fabian symbolically freed herself from the shackles of the cocoon constraining her and turned into a light, flying and bright butterfly. In the updated Lara Fabian, unchanged only in her radiant smile and in the strength of a voice recognizable to millions, she is ready to once again prove to the world the power and versatility of her talent.
Each concert of Lara Fabian is a grand modern show with a unique atmosphere and favorite songs. Meet the singer in the autumn of 2019 in Crocus City Hall.
---------------------------------------------------------
Maybe the story has changed with time, or the reality will be that it will be mostly ‘Papillon’, with a sprinkling of songs from the other albums. Eventually we’ll see.
The other big event of the week was Lara’s appearance on the show “Les années Bonheur”. During the program she sang in a segment composed of two songs back-to-back,
Je t’aime and Je suis a toi, available at:
www.facebook.com/larafabiancoeurdelumiere/videos/273090663561938
This first live rendition of Je suis a toi, by itself, can be found at:

Lara sang beautifully and looked very attractive. There were various comments made about her outfit – which can be seen specifically (from the Lara Fabian Greece site) at:

Patrick Sébastien invited Lara Fabian to sing a title from her new album, on “Les années Bonheur” set on France 2 on Saturday, December 15th. For the occasion, the singer had bet on a dress very transparent very glamorous ...
Patrick Sébastien was in the spotlight on France 2, prime-time Saturday, December 15. While TF1 broadcast at the same time the long awaited ceremony of Miss France 2019, Patrick Sebastien was on the air in a new issue of the Les années Bonheur. Before bidding farewell to viewers of France 2 in June 2019, the 65-year-old animator spent the evening surrounded by many personalities between emotions, crazy laughs and party favors.
Patrick Sébastien was able to count on the presence of artists from all backgrounds: Claudio Capeo, Jenifer, Nolwenn Leroy, Michel Fugain, Yannick Noah, Sheila, Pascal Obispo, Beginning of the Evening, or Joyce Jonathan. All have made the show on stage, and reprised to the public's delight the hits that have marked the popular culture of recent years.
And that's not all. Patrick Sebastien had also invited Lara Fabian , who came to sing a song from her new album "Papillon" . For the occasion, the coach of La Voix in Quebec appeared resplendent, wearing a black dress completely transparent, surmounted by a black body that highlighted her beautiful silhouette.
In welcoming her guest, the pillar of France Televisions could not help but compliment her. “I had a surprise this afternoon. She said to me, 'I'm going to put on a new dress' " began Patrick Sebastien referring to Lara Fabian. "And when I saw the dress ... No, but wait, the dress it is one thing, but the singer she is magnificent. She is beautiful in and she is beautiful outside. And she has an extraordinary voice." A nice compliment that made Lara Fabian smile, before the interpretation of her mythical " Je t’aime" followed by her new title "Je suis a toi".
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In reality, Lara has had even more explicit appearances before, as we all know.
In other news, an article about Lara’s life in Quebec (which actually appeared on 11/30/18) is available from a Belgian site, “Fokus” (https://wallonie.fokus-online.be/2018/11/30/lara-fabian-ma-fille-cest-ma-priorite/?fbclid=IwAR1u52wujHgjRuEhxrCY40d3EHq__F58oV6qf9VAS-A3F98ayXbbImsoT8k). Here’s the translation (thanks to the 'Lara Fabian Web' site for the link):
------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: 'My daughter is my priority!'
After returning to live in Quebec, where her career took off in the early nineties, the native of Etterbeek seems, at the dawn of her fifties, to have found the right balance. Which passes, among other things, by the education of Lou, her 11-year-old daughter.
It's been a little over a year since you returned to live in Quebec. How is your time organized, right now?
LF: "It is handled especially between my participation as a coach at La Voix (the equivalent of The Voice in Quebec, ed.) and a little rest, after a tour that ended in mid-October in the city of Quebec. But here, let's say that I enter a long phase of rehearsals and therefore, work. But my life is organized between the family, the education of my daughter Lou and long days in the studio. I get up at 8 o'clock and I come back at 22 or even 23 hours, which makes all in all for long days. And it will be like this until May!"
You talk about your daughter's education. In comparison with our case, how do you manage to be a parent when you have a life like yours?
LF: "Let's say I manage this educational aspect with as much love as devotion. All this is also possible thanks to the presence of my husband at my side. Because when it works well, in my eyes, a family is a real team. I really have to thank Gabriel for that, because I could not do it if he did not rule over a good spirit within my family. That allows me to find a good balance, I think ..."
LF: "Yes! (smile) It's true that she likes to travel as much as I do, so it does not make her worry about changing country, sleeping in planes or moving hotels. Obviously, like any child, she needs a minimum of stability, but we have a fairly close functioning. So yes, luckily, I was lucky enough to make a girl who can totally adapt to her mom's life. Otherwise, I must admit that it would have been complicated!"
WHEN A FAMILY IS WORKING WELL, IT'S A REAL TEAM .
We imagine that she must often change schools. How is it going at this level?
LF: "It is certain that for a child to leave school and have to leave friends to adapt in another country and another language, it is always difficult. In one year for example, she had to change school four times, between Belgium, Spain and now Canada! But there, I promised her that we would settle some time, especially since she starts high school next season. And even if on my side, I come back regularly in Belgium for a lot of reasons and that I continue concerts around the world."
Does she still pursue the Montessori method (as a reminder, a particular pedagogy that offers the child the opportunity to develop at her own pace, ed.)?
LF: "Finally, no! We had opted initially for this alternative education, but that has not necessarily given convincing results at home. So there, she found herself in a classical academic school but here in North America, all secondary schools have the particularity of being able to focus the child on a very specific program: from theater to sport, through cinema, mathematics, science or something else. Lou herself chose a private secondary school in Montreal, where she chose sport. That means 10 to 12 hours of the practice of sports per week in a real campus, with the menu: basketball, football, ice hockey ... "
And that pleases her?
LF:"She loves that! I even think I have rarely seen my little girl so fulfilled and happy ... "
Having a famous mom, for her, it's not too complicated?
LF: "No, it's quite simple, because Quebeckers are indeed the Belgians of America! They have this kindness, this cordiality and this real simplicity. So, even though I'm very well known here, especially with La Voix, which is watched here by 3 million people every week, it's still very good. This allows my daughter to live an absolutely normal life!"
How often do you manage to see you?
LF:"All the time! When I get up, I prepare her lunch box, I prepare it and I see her go on a bike. She is my priority, she is my life. To make a child to be kept and educated by other people would not be worth it. Of course, my job remains mobile: I travel, I leave and I come back often. But I never go away more than a few days in a row, at most a week. It does not have an impact in our relationship. We have a real life where, despite my busy career, we are able to live together. But it's also because I have made it the game!"
She has already demonstrated some skills in singing. If one day she followed your steps, what would you say?
LF: "I would support it 100%! But I can certify with both hands that she will not do that! (laughs). She sings well, but she has absolutely nothing to do with it, it's really not her thing, except to laugh at it. She has an incredible "musicability" in her, but her two great passions are still sport and pastry! \"
What next, as far as you are concerned?
LF: "In the immediate future, after the release of my single Papillon, which seems to have pleased a lot and for which I had nice returns, I just released a second title before the release of my next album in February. This will be followed by a tour between Belgium, France and Quebec. Yes, I'm still a multitasking mom (smile) ... "
... and entrepreneur!
LF: "Eh yes. With the weight of a company on the shoulders, which integrates the production or the release of albums, etc. Mom, entrepreneur and artist are three very different professions. It suffices just having the distance to take one day at a time, and agreeing that doing your best does not always mean doing everything at the same time. And every time one does something, one tries to put all one’s heart into it. For me, life is playing the cards that we have in everyday life, and in the best possible way. And do not worry about what we would do if we had others! That's it, I think that's how I get there ... "
SMART FACT
For the artist, the passion for her craft arose at age 5, when she began to sing in a car, alongside a father surprised, but ... conquered! First thinking of becoming a star dancer, she abandoned this dream, and continued singing!

Definitely looks like Lara will be settling in Quebec, given her promise to Lou (though she didn’t actually specify a country, it’s pretty clear what it will be). Also, she notes the tour as being especially for Belgian, France and Quebec, even though the announcement indicated other countries as well. It could be that this is for the sake of the francophone audience of the publication; or, as suggested above, perhaps its focus has changed since that interview was given.
As for this week’s ‘personal’ message from Lara: she left the following picture on her Instagram account:
with the caption, “I dreamed to meet him!!! It is done! Ricardo is a marvel and a master! thanks for that moment.”
Ricardo is a well-known chef, TV personality and author in Quebec. He also has a line of cookbooks and kitchen accessories. If you want to know more about him, you can read a brief bio at
www.ricardocuisine.com/en/articles/ricardos-bio/227-ricardo-biography-and-achievements
And for more Interesting photo(s) of the week: since none can really compare with Lara’s transparent dress, one can get all one wants of it from the screen captures of the video provided by the Lara Fabian Coeur de Lumiere FB site, at

We’ve gotten a good indication from Lara as to what her (heavy) working days are like, though in this next week leading up to Christmas one expects there might be a bit of a relief. Other than that, from now on – for perhaps the next six months or even more – we may expect to hear about additional venues for the “50” tour. And it wouldn’t be surprising if Lara started showing up on some of the holiday programs in Quebec. Otherwise holiday preparations will likely dominate her life – as it will for many others. [And because next Tuesday is Christmas, the News Update next week will come out one day earlier, on Monday. The same will be true the following week, avoiding New Years Day].
