La Voix revealed what their ‘countdown’ was all about this past week, releasing a video of their “‘formidable’ coaches wishing you happy holidays” in the following video of a song by Charles Aznevour, entitled “For Me Formidable”, visible at:

Not surprisingly, Lara’s vocal prowess shined, in the mixed French-English song.
Here are the full English lyrics (from www.google.com/search?q=for+me+formidable+lyrics&oq=For+Me+formidable+lyrics&aqs=chrome.0.0l6.5015j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8):
----------------------------------------------------
For Me, Formidable
Charles Aznavour / Jacques Plante
You are the one for me, for me, formi, formidable
You are my love, very, very, true, true
And I would like one day finally to be able to say it to you
To write it
In the language of Shakespeare
My daisy, daisy, desi, desirable
I am unhappy
To have so few words to offer you as a gift
Darling I love you, love you, darling, I want you
And then it's about everything
You are the one for me, for me
You are the one for me, for me, formi, formidable
But how can you see me, see me, so mi, so shabby
I'd better go and choose my vocabulary
To please you
In the language of Molière
You, your eyes, your nose, your adorable lips
You did not understand
Too bad, do not worry and
Come on in my arms
Darling I love you, love you, darling, I want you
And then the rest, we do not care
You are the one for me, formi, formidable
I even wonder why I love you
You who make fun of me and everything
With your air rascal, rascal, rascal
How can I love you?

An article in (Echos Vedettes) had some additional commentary, translated below (thanks to the Lara Fabian – PHQ site for the scans):
----------------------------------------
The coaches of the next season of La Voix offer a gift in music for the holiday period with a reflective festive, in the crooner style, of the song “For Me, Formidable”, of Charles Aznavour. “It is very sympathetic to hear the little bells [grelots and clochettes]”, joked Alex Nevsky. “The idea from the beginning was to render homage to Aznavour, for he is a singer who brought together all generations. One feels a certain comfort when one listens to him. Furthermore, the song “For Me Formidable” sticks to the spirit of the holiday time. I love the fact of not singing a Christmas classic; it is interesting to go elsewhere.”
Eric Lapointe was also very happy to sing a song of his idol. “I am a big fan of Aznavour since I was young”, confided the rocker. “In my opinion, the francophone has lost, this year, the most beautiful feather of French song. I still regularly hear his songs, and it is always a pleasure to sing it.”
-----------------------------------------------
The response of the fans writing into their site was, as expected, quite positive, and Lara in particular was praised. A nice contribution to the holiday season (and good promotion for La Voix).
The same article had an interview with Lara concerning what she would be doing for the holidays; in fact that’s the cover story, as can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/pcb.1598973176916016/1598973016916032/?type=3&theater
The translation is provided below:
----------------------------------------------
In the autumn of 2017, Lara Fabian disembarked in Montreal with her husband, the magician Gabriel de Giorgio, her daughter, Lou and all their baggage. The singer returned to install herself in the country which saw her artistic birth. That which at the beginning was to be only a provisional address has transformed itself into a new residence. The singer has even decided to spend the holidays in Quebec. “Last year, I returned to Europe to see my family and pass the time with them. But this year, I decided to remain in Quebec. It will be our first Christmas here. I have promised Lou that we were going to do something different, under the snow, full of lights.”
Lara Fabian seems to find some reflexes that she had forgotten a little while being far from Quebec. “It does me well to pass the holidays here. I am truly happy, because it has been a long time. I am anxious to find myself again in the kitchen to prefer some typical Quebecois dishes. When I’m in Europe, it is less evident to make a tourtiere (pie tin) or prepare some ketchups. I could do it, but I have the impression that it would not have the same flavor.”
She also takes a lot of pleasure in decorating the house and producing there a festive and convivial ambiance. She is astonished moreover that the fervor of Christmas continues to be as present in Quebec, while it seems to have weakened on the other side of the Atlantic. “I have the impression that as time passes, less of this notion of holiday and celebration is present and displayed in Europe. However, it is great to go look for some decoration and to wind garlands around the staircase.”
Some Different Celebrations
Very close to her parents, Luisa and Pierre, Lara Fabian recently confided that the two are sick. Her mother, 76 years old, has suffered from Alzheimer's for a number of years. Lara herself had even written a song, ‘L’oubli” appearing on her album “Ma vie dans la tienne”, which spoke of this sickness. The singer had equally confided that her father suffered from fibromyalgia. Her parents will not therefore spend Christmas with their daughter and their granddaughter. “Unhappily, their health does not permit it. Just before Christmas, and also just after, I’m going to visit them. I think that there are some moments in life, outside of the day of the celebration, where it is the complete holiday time that ought to represent a gesture to the other. It is not only the 24th of December in the evening that it is necessary that one be together. It is a general spirit that ought to remain for as long a time as possible."
In lieu of being with her close ones, Lara Fabian wants to open her doors for a Christmas full of generosity and sharing. “Christmas, it is certainly being with the people whom one loves in one mode or another, but it is also welcoming some people who aren’t family. This year, it will be very important for me to have come to the house some people who have family elsewhere and who will not have the occasion to celebrate with them, so as to make a big table in a very relaxed ambiance.”
On the return to La Voix
From next February, the singer will return to the couch of the coaches of La Voix, where she had a great deal of pleasure last year. “I have had the desire to return probably because of the joy and pleasure that I have had in transmitting. I perceived that I was capable of being a good teacher.”
She will equally release a new album in French, ‘Papillon’, which will be the 14th opus of her career. “This album, entirely created in my house in Montreal, resonates particularly in me, she indicated in a communique during the announcement. It is here that all began, the symbolism is strong. I count now the days until it will belong to you.”
------------------------------------------
Lara has said it many times, and it appears to be true: Quebec seems the right place for her.
Lara’s second single, “Je suis a toi” continues to get good reviews from fans. It is #180 on iTunes in France. In related news, when asked whether there will be a video of the song, Lara’s people announced that (instead) one can see Lara sing it in the upcoming show “Les Annees Bonheur” on France 2, December 15th. And perhaps the first venues in the autumn tour for the album have been announced, first for Moscow, on October 7th, 2019 in Crocus City Hall:
Also, according to the Lara Fabian Connecting People FB site, there will be a concert in St. Petersburg, on October 10th. Note that neither of these have yet to appear on Lara’s “Events” page on her FB site [so - beware], but apparently tickets are being sold.
Lara continued her approach of providing ‘natural’ images of her daily life, with a picture on her Instagram site, at:
that included the caption, “En route towards ‘a good end to the week’”. Then she provided this photo:
with the caption, “The Christmas tree is decorated!”
In other news, on Sunday Lara was one of the participants on a program dedicated to Johnny Hallyday; her portion can be heard at:
www.facebook.com/larafabiancoeurdelumiere/videos/2270301329847960/?fref=gs&dti=464510497230804&hc_location=group
while the whole (54 minute) program can be heard at:
www.rtl.fr/culture/musique/100-live-du-09-decembre-2018-7795844999?fbclid=IwAR0-ptQIYQiUxIEN56CIY2cAjBIeeLgW4benVl7FnIFn9vJjKZBZUwYaun8
Lara repeated, as she has so often, how much of a gift it was to her career for him to invite her to sing “Requiem pour un fou” with him before, as they said, 80,000 fans. She also got a chance to plug ‘Papillon’ a bit.
Lara has been on several programs with the same theme. You may remember, a few months ago Lara appeared on the show “the 20 Songs of Johnny Hallyday most liked by the French”, in which she was interviewed on this topic. In it she again mentioned his generosity and how much of a gentleman he was. It can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psrb7zFugjw
And she was also on “Touche pas à mon poste” in early October with similar comments.
Then Lara was on the show “Deux filles de matin”. The theme, as they state, is: “Italians have the sense of the party, it's well known! Marie-Claude Barrette is inspired to celebrate Christmas and surrounded by guests who all have a link with this place: Mathieu Baron, Marc Hervieux, Lara Fabian…” The promo for it can be found at:
www.facebook.com/2filleslematin/videos/2062427584055750/
while a picture of the guests can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/notes/deux-filles-le-matin/liste-des-recettes-no%C3%ABl-%C3%A0-litalienne/10156435905890971/
and that site also contains a list of recipes.
For those who can access it, the show itself can be found at:
videos.tva.ca/details/_5977677200001 (not available outside the viewing area; hopefully it will be made available in some other venue). A short segment of Lara discussing a beautiful childhood experience can be found at:

This is another TVA show…definitely useful to be one of their ‘people’. Another example of that is Lara posted on her FB site a link to the promo for the TVA show, ‘The World of Dance’. They’re using the single ‘Papillon’ to advertise it, as seen at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/2262137700691312/
Interesting photo(s) of the week: from la Voix, of Lara with Eric Lapointe:

Finally, a picture of Lara from the set of “Deux filles de matin”,
(thanks to the Lara Fabian & Emanual Moire: Le Duo site for the link).
As noted above, we'll have a chance to see Lara on TV from France this coming Saturday (pre-recorded). However, if Lara follows up on what she indicated, she’ll be going to Europe before Christmas, and then again afterwards, while being in Quebec during the holiday itself. As she herself has noted, this is a good time in her life (albeit with the concern over her parents). It seems like she is fully enjoying the holidays, North American version.

The musicians have given a festive touch to the arrangements; it is a grand classic revisited. It puts us in the ambiance of Christmas and the holidays.”
The song is available on digital platforms of La Voix and of TVA.
