Another very active week for Lara, highlighted by the release of the first single “Papillon” from the upcoming album of the same name. The single itself got surprisingly good reviews, considering that a segment of Lara’s fan base still prefers her to maximize her vocal output in a song, which this does not do. But it seems to be interesting enough, driven by the nominal electro-pop beat, and also people have gotten used to this version of Lara, to some extent, from her Camouflage album. It can be heard, for example at Spotify ().
To order the single, the following sites were provided by Lara’s site:

Lara put the words to the song on her website; here’s a translation:
Butterfly
Music: Lara Fabian/Moh Denebi/Sharon Vaughn
Lyrics: Lara Fabian/Moh Denebi/Sharon Vaughn
Will someone hear me?
If I don't say a word
Will someone see me
If I disappeared
I know.. I know
I could have been a butterfly
I would have lived
Only one day
I fly…would fly
would be dressed in light
I hide... would hide
From the rain and wind
I'd watch the earth
Would appreciate its beauty
I fly… would fly
Would be a butterfly
Will someone wait
For my chrysalis
To free itself from its threads
And leap into space
I know I know
I could have been a butterfly.
I would have lived
Only one day..
I fly…would fly
would dress up in light
I hide... would hide
From the rain and wind
I'd watch the earth
Would appreciate its beauty
I fly… would fly
Would be a butterfly

As indicated, Lara worked with the same team that had helped her with the music and lyrics of Camouflage. At the time, she said she produced an English album with them because of their background (U.S.; Sweden). Apparently she became convinced they could do French, too!
Because of the song structure, 'Papillon' sounds like its own remix. Nevertheless, if you want to hear one attempt at that, it can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMfxUnX0xDM
The associated video clip was also released, and is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzWit_mevK0
Lara released a thank you to the people who helped produce that video, saying “A big thank you to 'Plastic Gun' (Sam and Adem), the young tandem of Montreal Directors, responsible for the video of" Butterfly, as well as the production company, Romeo & Son. She included a picture of herself with them, available at:
scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.2147-6/c100.0.600.600/p600x600/43135263_244885472852856_1756001304569708544_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&oh=f3a4cd3109608847905d1e060c87f11d&oe=5C1AD51F
and a few more photos taken during the filming are available at:
www.facebook.com/VanessaBorris.Styliste/photos/pcb.1878550925567709/1878550722234396/?type=3&theater&ifg=1
The video likewise received a positive response, as can be judged by the number of “thumbs up” (4500) vs. “thumbs down” (262) (~94% in favor). [One can compare that with “Growing Wings”, 18000 vs. 507, or 97%]. Its ‘story’ seems to be the metamorphosis a butterfly undergoes, starting with the caterpillar stage where one has to ‘shake loose’ to eventually become a butterfly that can spread its wings.
The idea that one should ‘live in the moment and appreciate all that is around is (from a height)”, as one never knows how long our life will be, is something she has addressed in one form or another ever since 'Carpe Diem. As to the accuracy of the example given, it seems from her interviews that Lara means one could learn by living one day only as a butterfly. [Butterflies themselves do not live for only 24 hours. Their typical life expectancy is 2-6 weeks, though they can live for 9 months, or longer (e.g., monarchbutterflyusa.com/monarch-life-cycle; www.butterfliesandmoths.org/faq/how-long-do-butterflies-and-moths-live)].
There were numerous articles, first announcing the new single and album (and video), and then reviewing it (even from as far away as Greece, i.e., mikrofwno.gr/2018/10/papillon-apolafste-to-olokainourgio-single-tis-lara-fabian/). Here’s a (translated) selection from the most affected countries:

Lara Fabian: a song dedicated to Maurane on her new album
Her new album is expected for the month of February and she has just unveiled a first extract..
Three years after "Ma vie dans la tienne", Lara Fabian prepares her return with an album in French, after an Anglo-Saxon parenthesis last year with "Camouflage". A first single, "Papillon", with electro-pop sounds, has just been unveiled and already gives a little idea of what to expect. " It will be a fairly varied album in terms of production and themes, I will talk about love and breakup, of course, it will be in the vein of "Camouflage”. Contemporary pop, but while preserving DNA who I am."
And among the songs that will appear on this new album, one of them will be dedicated to Maurane , with whom Lara Fabian was so close. "It's a love letter addressed to her, I wrote it thinking about her last March, before her death, we had talked to each other, she had to go back on stage, I told her that I I had written something for her, she asked me if it was for her to sing it, I said no, it was just for her, after that she left and strangely I realize it's a song that's addressed to her, it's crazy, I've dedicated it to her."

A premonition, perhaps?

LARA FABIAN: "I WOULD LOVE TO COLLABORATE WITH STROMAE! "
October 5, 2018| By Laura Swysen
Lara Fabian: "I would love to collaborate with Stromae!"
While she just finished her international tour, the Camouflage World Tour, Lara Fabian is back with a new single. Three years after the release of her latest album in French "Ma vie dans la tienne", the singer, who has sold more than 20 million albums in the world, returns to the language of Molière. We met her on the occasion of the presentation of her new title, "Papillon", a song recorded in her country of heart, Canada.
HOW DID YOU EXPERIENCE THIS RETURN TO CANADA?
LF: It was very intense, a bit like we find a part of our family. We wonder if the door will be so wide open, if our family will recognize us and, above all, if they will like what they have in front of their eyes. The welcome was incredibly warm. It had been 13 years since I left the country. Everything was done so fast! A phone call on August 28 and a few weeks later, we arrived in Canada. We landed on a banana peel, if I may say: we had to pack directly and find a new place to live. I lived for a month with a friend before finding the perfect place for my family. My husband and daughter felt directly at home, they may have adapted with even greater ease than me!
DID YOU EXPECT SUCH A WELCOME?
LF: Not at all, it was 13 years since I was gone! This phone call changed my life: I lived in Andalusia for 9 months and everything changed in the space of two weeks. It was very intense, I was present in all the many Canadian media.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE AS A COACH IN THE VOICE (THE CANADIAN EQUIVALENT OF THE VOICE).
LF: I just love it! I realized that the transmission was my hobby. This confirmed the desire to make it the second part of my career. Just watch their eyes light up when they finally manage to place a note they could not reach. I really feel at home in this exercise and I intend to continue this project by opening two schools: one in Montreal, the other in Brussels.
"We singers live like athletes. We are far from the cliche "sex, drugs and rock'n'roll"."
WHAT WILL THESE SCHOOLS CONSIST OF?
LF: We will learn much more than "good singing". I want to help young singers by offering them all the equipment they need to face this world. We will not only perform vocalizations, we will teach them to "live this job" from the management of interviews to contracts, through spiritual and sports strategies to manage the pressure. Food will also be important. We singers live like athletes. We are far from the cliche "sex, drugs and rock'n'roll".
WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES OF THE MOMENT?
LF: I listen to Panic at the Disco! I also really appreciate Stromae, Chris and Alex Nevsky, a young Quebec artist who portrays society and his generation with a lot of positivism.
CONTEMPORARY POP INSPIRATIONS HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR NEW SINGLE, PAPILLON ...
LF: Of course! Papillon is the celebration of joy and lightness . It is a contemporary pop piece that pays homage to this philosophy of life that pushes us to take a step back and look at the world with more lightness, without losing depth. It's a piece full of gratitude, "Count your blessings," as the saying goes.
"If we put something on the table we really love, in which we put all our heart, it can only please. "
PAPILLON SEEMS TO FLY FAR FROM YOUR BEGINNINGS: ARE YOU AFRAID THAT FANS WILL NOT FOLLOW YOU?
LF: Of course, I'm always scared . But I really like this new single. I tell myself that if we put something on the table we really love, in which we put all our heart, it can only please. I am quite happy and serene and must also evolve. I can not become a caricature of myself! At one point, it's worth following contemporary music like Phil Collins, Sting or Annie Lennox , singers who age gracefully as they age with their era.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM DUO? THE ARTIST WITH WHOM YOU DREAM TO COLLABORATE?
LF: I would love to work with Stromae!

Clip "Butterfly": Lara Fabian spreads her wings on a modern single
A year after "Camouflage", Lara Fabian is (already) back with a new album, this time in French, scheduled for February 8, 2019. The singer presents "Papillon", a single with electro-pop accents that allow her to get out of her comfort zone. Watch the clip on Pure Charts!
As soon as her tour is over, Lara Fabian is already making her comeback. Four years after "Ma vie dans la tienne", the singer is preparing to release her new French-language album, a year after "Camouflage" in the language of Shakespeare. For this new era, the artist offers the detonating single "Papillon" before the eponymous album scheduled for February 8, 2019. And this title has something to detangle! Far from the rather lyrical hymns to which Lara Fabian accustomed us, "Papillon" opts more for electro-pop sounds, that we owe to the Swedish producer Moh Denebi, known for his work with Pink or Britney Spears. As described by the singer, it allows her to get out of her comfort zone. Unveiled simultaneously, the clip presents her in full metamorphosis, first in a cocoon and then levitating in a loose black dress, free as air. " I fly ... would fly / get dressed with light / I hide ... would hide / Rain and wind / I'll look at the earth / Enjoy her beauty / I fly ... would fly / Will be a butterfly " sings the artist on the solar and modern chorus of the title.
A new tour in 2019
To announce this 14th opus, the singer of "Tout" is currently in the middle of a promotional tour on the television sets. On LCI, the singer announced the color of the album, in agreement with this first preview: "It's a pop album, contemporary, French. It feels good to be in its time and to translate by the image, the sound and the texts something that corresponds to a state of mind, a little more contemplative perhaps, which celebrates a little more the lightness". The butterfly symbol was not chosen at random: "The butterfly is my totem since I was very small. My grandmother called me ‘farfalla’, in Italian, so it's an animal that has always followed me". Subsequently, Lara Fabian will leave to defend these new songs on tour from October ... 2019, of course.
-------------------------------------------------------
While the article indicates the new tour seems to be waiting until October of 2019, her management team has emphasized that no tour dates have yet been announced. If the delay is true however, it will be 8 months after the release of the album, a long time to wait (due of course to La Voix's schedule). At least then Lara will get another summer off…

BUTTERFLY: LARA FABIAN ANNOUNCES HER NEW SINGLE AND AN ALBUM
Early morning for the beautiful Lara Fabian as she announces not only the release of a new single, a new music video, but also a new album!
The one that will take up her famous red armchair at La Voix next winter reveals today Papillon. This brand new original song is from a 14th studio album to be released in the bins in the winter of 2019!
Having received the honors last Tuesday for her songs "Je t'aime" and "Leïla" which have become Classics of the Socan for a cumulative of more than 25 000 broadcasts of these songs on the radio, Lara Fabian has a special place in the heart of public from here.
"This song represents for me the celebration of the joy and the lightness of the soul and the heart. If we spent 24 hours in the life of a butterfly, what vision would we change from ours? I think we would definitely be aware of the grace that lives in us and our ability to fly higher ... ", reveals Lara .
See the video of Papillon , which was shot in Montreal!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting, that the Socan award was not only for Je t’aime but also for Leila – one wonders if this will lead to (or fortify) a decision to include it in the Quebec concerts later this week…The complete list of Socan winners can be seen at:
www.socanmagazine.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/SOCAN-Awards-MTL-Winners-List-Sept-2018-FR-FINAL.pdf
And then again an article in (http://hollywoodpq.com/lara-fabian-nous-surprend-avec-un-nouveau-videoclip/):
----------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian surprises us with a new music video
The one who will take back her coach swivel chair for the next season of La Voix surprises us today by revealing a brand new music video. It is the extract Papillon, which will appear on her 14th [studio] album in her career, that Lara Fabian today offers us these beautiful images shot in Montreal that remind us why we love it so much (not that we really needed a reminder).
From the first moments of the clip, we see a Lara Fabian all dressed in white whose jerky movements are reminiscent of those of a butterfly trying to break free of its chrysalis. The reference is confirmed by her gestures, which, more and more liberated, lead her to her new life; like a butterfly.
"This song represents for me the celebration of the joy and the lightness of the soul and the heart. If we spent 24 hours in the life of a butterfly, what vision would we change from ours? I think we would certainly be aware of the grace that lives in us and our ability to fly higher ... " says the singer in a statement.
A song that invites all the little butterflies we are to appreciate our life at its true value.
It is in the winter of 2019 that we will finally discover the new opus of Lara Fabian who, remember, has already sold more than 20 million albums in career worldwide.
----------------------------------------------------
And from the Journal of Montreal (https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2018/10/06/bientot-un-nouvel-album-100-made-in-quebec):
---------------------------------------------------------
Soon a new album "100% made in Quebec"
Back home for barely a year, Lara Fabian did not take a long time to feel at home again or get to work. The singer has just put the finishing touches to a new album in French made entirely in Quebec, which will be released in February.
Lara Fabian does not hide it, she was eager to find the Quebec that had so warmly welcomed her in the early 1990s. The attachment is very real - and reciprocal - between the singer and the public here. "It is in Quebec that I was born, musically, because it is here that I knew my first successes. So when I come back here, I feel like being welcomed by my family, those who gave me birth. It's very special and very, very strong," says the singer in interview in the Journal .
"It often happens to me during the day to find myself in a small bubble of contemplation and gratitude. I would like to pinch myself, but I would be too scared to wake up," she adds.
See her happy daughter
The idea of settling again in the metropolis has caused some apprehension in Lara Fabian. Because this time, she was no longer the only one involved in this decision: it also concerned her husband Gabriel Di Giorgio, and his daughter Lou, now 10 years old.
"It was something, in August of last year, when I was called to participate in the show La Voix . It was important to tell my family that we were going to move, not just to change countries, but to live in," she recalls.
A year after their arrival in Montreal, she can now say beyond any doubt that the transition went smoothly.
"To see today so much serenity, joy of life and laughter with my family, it is really wonderful for my mother's heart. I see that my daughter is really happy here. When I talk about future projects, tours, she is always afraid of having to leave Montreal," says Lara Fabian.
Back to the sources
Her return to the city will have greatly inspired her since she has already completed the recording of a fully francophone album expected next winter. This new project, "100% made in Quebec", she says, has brought her back to her early years in the profession.
"The album was made in the basement, in the cellar of my house. It reminds me of my beginnings, even before I was known, where I got up in the morning and I went down to the studio in my pajamas. Everything was created here, at home, in my husband Gabriel's studio," she says.
We can also hear the first single, Papillon , at Lara Fabian's concerts scheduled for Friday, first in Montreal, then in Quebec City. And although these dates are part of the tour accompanying the Camouflage album , launched exactly one year ago, the program of the evening was entirely reviewed for performances in the province.
"I removed several songs in English and added songs in French to tell this love story that I have with Quebec. And also because, here, a Lara Fabian show without Je t’aime”, it just does not work, "jokes the singer.
A changing industry
When the conversation bifurcated on the album Camouflage, we detect a tiny touch of disappointment in the tone of Lara Fabian.
"It's an album that has remained, my faith, quite discreet, that was not completely heard as I would have liked. It was perhaps too new, too different from what people were waiting for. But at the same time, it allowed me to express something that, musically, is very current. And some songs have been loved by people like Chameleon and We Are the Flyers, and it has also allowed me to perform 30 shows around the world, "she says.
"In any case, the industry is so different; the music is not transmitted in the same way as before, so we can not imagine selling 100 000, 200 000 or 400 000 copies of the same album, "concludes Lara Fabian.
Lara Fabian will be performing at the Saint-Denis Theater in Montreal on October 12th and 13th, then at the Videotron Center in Quebec City on October 14th.
---------------------------------------------------------
One supposes that Lara is setting herself and others up for reduced record sales for this album too, made more likely by her being physically far removed from the majority of her Francophone audience.
Nevertheless, all this has actually helped Lara in Quebec with regard to Chameleon, surprisingly. It is now #1 for English language songs (https://palmaresadisq.ca/fr/tops-ventes/chansons/).
Then there was the extensive promotion that Lara did when in Belgium and France, a bit of which was available last week as well. The presumed highlight was the TV show “Touchepas a mon poste!”; for those in France, it is available at www.mycanal.fr/d-8-divertissement/tpmp-du-03-10-partie-1-invitee-lara-fabian/p/1509484. Elsewhere one can find it at:
vk.com/video23439505_456239933
(it is better accessed on mobile devices).
A parody that the host, Cyril Hanouna produced about Lara can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpqIO1q_8eg
(On seeing this, Lara must have felt even more relieved that she’s now living in Quebec!).
On the show, Lara did not perform Papillon live, lip-synching being a habit she has developed when presenting new songs on TV. There was criticism on Twitter and on the TNMP FB site about how ‘poorly’ she did even this. One person writing into that site defended her, saying that since her hearing accident, she will no longer take the risk of singing with monitors on her ears (like headphones) on TV stages without her private engineer (and that would likely make it harder to hear what you’re supposed to be mimicking). However, it didn’t seem to me that she did a bad job with the timing, her lips pretty much matched the music. If there was any criticism to be levied, it might be that she didn’t look like she was very serious about what she was doing; actually in that regard it looked better in the rehearsal :
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianfromMexico/videos/2298318070399433/
Lara was on the show Lara Fabian dans 50'inside sur TF1 (6/10/2018); thanks to the “Lara Fabian Bien Plus Qu'une Passion Corse-Réunion” for the video:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su6uIXGlHdA&feature=share
She was asked:
1) What three words summarize “Papillon”: her reply: lightness, gratitude and strength
2) The future in three words: work, family and transmission
3) Lara’s playlist: Christine and the Queens (Damn, Dis-moi); Panic at the Disco (High Hopes; and DJ Khaled (Top Off)
And she was asked again if one had to pick one song from Charles Aznevour, which would it be? And Lara replied, as previously, “Comment ils dissent”.
In other news, the album by Jean-Pierre Ferland, “Toutes les femmes de ma vie” has quickly jumped to #2 on iTunes in Quebec; it includes his duet with Lara on the song “Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin”, which is #8 on the most downloaded songs on that same list.
If you’ve heard the song – it is available on various digital sites, including Spotify – you know that Lara does a sensational job on it, so much so that Jean-Pierre sounds like he doesn’t belong in the same musical universe. Without a doubt, Lara’s fans hope she sings like that on at least some of the cuts of her own album!
Later this week Lara’s concerts for fans in Montreal and Quebec will take place. An article discussing them, and her, can be found at (https://www.lesoleil.com/arts/lara-fabian-pour-lamour-des-fans-c7ab0c52e51ba1097ea73f27c4b3e354); here’s the translation:

Lara Fabian: for Fans' sake
Back in Quebec for a year, Lara Fabian is fully enjoying her reunion with the Quebec public, who has never forgotten her, despite a long absence. The Belgian-Canadian singer will be on stage at the Videotron Center on October 14 for a show that will feature songs from her latest English-language album "Camouflage" and her greatest hits in French.
Her last concert in Quebec was in January 2014 at the Capitol. In other words, an eternity for her many fans. Meanwhile, the singer has released an album in French, Ma vie dans la tienne , and an album in English, Camouflage . The latter was conducted in recent months in more than twenty countries for a major world tour.
The singer also became a coach on the show La voix , a way for her to settle down in a country, her country, which she particularly likes. This return home is pure happiness for Lara Fabian, who did not expect to receive as much love from Quebeckers.
"I did not expect such a quick response, nor that playfulness and intensity. We can never know, especially after so many years," she said.
For Lara Fabian, there was a kind of re-connection between the audience and her. "In a way, even though I was not born here, I'm kind of their child, in the sense that I started my job in Quebec."
The singer-songwriter has only one word to describe her return to Quebec. "So much, so, so, so [happy]. You can write it 100 times," she exclaimed with a big smile in her voice.
Surprised by such a welcome, Lara Fabian has the impression of having knocked on the door of an old friend whom she has not seen for a long time and who "jumps on her neck". "It moved me deeply and it made me feel good too."
Around the world
In almost 30 years of career - she released her first album in 1991 - the artist has wandered in many French and non-French speaking countries. With millions of records sold and thousands of concerts around the world, you could think that Lara Fabian has nothing to prove. But for all that, she considers the duty above all to her fans.
"I live it with great gratitude. I am aware of the incredible gift it represents. Of course, it is accompanied by work and great sacrifices, but sometimes, we work and we sacrifice a lot of things, and we do not necessarily have the chance to be able to do this job all this time. I am lucky, after all these years, to still have an audience, people who support me," she said.
If she had been told 20 years ago that she would travel around the world to sing, she would not have believed it, and now that she has tasted it, she only wants to start again. "It amazes me this incredible consistency of the effect of some songs that are not in the language of the country. To see how people react to songs they do not even understand is a fabulous thing. And I say to myself that the strength of an emotion goes far beyond a language and a culture. "
Exclusive to Quebeckers
Singing in several languages, French, English and Italian among others, is what characterizes Lara Fabian. "I was born into a family where we speak several languages. I have always traveled and lived in many different countries. It's something that defines me in the sense of my genesis," she explained.
But knowing that French is very important for Quebeckers and to thank them for being here for her, Lara Fabian has concocted an exclusive show for Quebec. The concert on October 14 will have similarities with her last world tour, presenting songs of Camouflage, but it will also contain many songs in French that have marked his career here.
Lara Fabian will release a new album in French on February 8, Papillon. Written, produced and recorded entirely in Montreal in the studio of her house, it will be in the same style as Camouflage .
The first title, Papillon , was released Friday.

This coming week Lara will get another infusion of publicity in Quebec, and hopefully enjoyment, with her three concerts. As one of the articles noted, it’s been some four years since she last gave a concert in La Belle Province; now she has much more attention, and given how good her concerts are, they most likely will garner her even more applause. Although there’s been some speculation that she will include “Papillon”, it’s not been her way to present new songs prior to an album’s release. Interestingly, Lara has now identified these concerts as part of the “Camouflage World Tour, but as noted, there will be some additional (probably older) French songs added in. Times seem good for Lara, very well-deserved.
