Lara’s media appearances in Quebec continued this past week with her appearance on the show "Deux hommes en or - À deux, c'est mieux!” The video can be seen at
www.facebook.com/larafabian.artist/videos/1224771351000158/
or
www.youtube.com/watch?v=31ULT1csobw
or also (with a different lead-in) at

She discussed her family’s accommodation to that country and her happiness at being a coach on La Voix. She admitted to an associated nervousness of doing something for the first time, while also defending the candidates on the show as “not boring”. When asked, given all the languages she has sung in, which was the one that most occupies her brain, she answered French (probably true, but also, as indicated, politically correct). When it was noted that so many of her songs have the word ‘Love’ in them, and asked is that what defines her songs, she replied "yes but it is also what defines everyone, is responsible for one’s drive to live, it creates the bond between us - in effect, it is all we have".
The Lara Fabian Italia site collected some photos from the show, available at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianitalia/photos/pcb.1905229539492649/1905228492826087/?type=3&theater
and a few others (from the complete show that included other guests) are available from Pierre-Yves Lord (thanks to the Lara Fabian web site for the link), at

All in all, a typical, very pleasant experience for her in this country, which seems very happy to welcome her back now that she appears to have fully ‘jumped into’ their waters.
Then a contest was announced to “Live the Experience Lara Fabian” thanks to the show “En Direct de l’Univers". Here’s their (translated) announcement (http://ici.radio-canada.ca/television/concours/en-direct-de-l-univers17_lara-fabian/index.shtml):
------------------------------------------
“En direct de l’univers”, the musical rendezvous par excellence of ICI Radio-Canada Télé, offers a special show with Lara Fabian. In the intimate context of “En direct de l’univers”, and with the complicity of several guest artists, the host France Beaudoin will introduce you to the songs of the universe of this Belgian-Canadian singer-songwriter! It's an appointment on Saturday, November 18th at 7 pm on ICI Radio-Canada Télé!
Would you like to attend this unique event on site? Participate in the contest to gain privileged access as well as her first original album in English for more than a decade, Camouflage!
----------------------------------------------------
As indicated, you get to go to the show and win a copy of the album. You have to go to the site indicated, listen to an interview with Lara, and then answer the question, “Which country (at the time of that interview) had Lara never visited”? [The answer, without a doubt, is simple: Antarctica! ].
Another promotional article appeared in Quebec, in the publication ‘Qui fait Quoi’ (http://www.qfq.com/article&ID=88717). No translation is provided here as it contains nothing new. However, it does contain the paragraph, “The release of "Camouflage" will be followed by the Camouflage World Tour, which will begin in February 2018 in the United States. This show will marry Lara Fabian's new titles and international successes, and the tour of forty dates around the world will end at the Zenith in Paris on June 18, 2018.” Don’t the editors of these publications wonder why there is no ‘Quebec/Canadian' date(s) listed? If Lara’s Team knew ahead of time that they were going to get such great publicity in Quebec from La Voix, they (or promoters) would probably have made a greater effort to secure a concert hall. It may still happen, and often publications about Lara say it is “still being planned”, but the more time goes by, the less likely venues will be available (again, we’ve heard one has to make arrangements six months to a year ahead of time for most substantial concert halls).
There was a brief announcement of Lara’s new album in English speaking Canada, for the FM radio station Jewel 98.5 (which serves the Ottawa-Gatineau area), at
985thejewel.com/lara-fabian-back/
Basically it just welcomes Lara’s new effort, providing the video (and one hopes the radio play) for ‘Growing Wings’. This article, as have many others, claim there will be 40 stops on the tour, but we know that only 23 are listed so far on the ‘Events’ page. Lara has said that to do “La Voix” they’ve had to coordinate her concert tour with the TV shooting schedule, and perhaps that coordination is still not firmly in place, hence the delay in announcing further ticket sales. The only ticket availability that has been added recently is for St. Petersburg for 2/27/18 (https://www.facebook.com/events/862068447294849/). Nicolas Navarro on the LFIAG Select site claims that the preparation for the tour is going slowly: “To this day, the information I have on the preparation of the tour is far from reassuring...
ONLY 4 musicians on stage (Swedish); no backup singers at the moment (in any case, not hired); no light effects (like no video wall) in place; the Sound Engineer & lights from the team of Lara’s ‘Best Of’ tour "Prg Eml Prod.” There are still three months to go, and of course, he may not have correct/complete information, but given the slowness with which things appear to be progressing in announcing the additional venues, it has a certain ‘believability’ factor.
As is obvious, Lara has thrown in all her chips to promote (and enjoy) herself in Quebec. Otherwise, it appears the promotion elsewhere is frozen until January, when a new single and remix will apparently appear. That will try to jump start both album sales (so far about 10,000 worldwide) and the tour. Information about the (abundant) seating still available for the U.S. concert venues, provided in last week’s Update, hasn’t changed significantly. Lara’s new album is now in 20th place on the charts in Belgium (down three places), and in France it dropped another 19 places, and is now #87. Of course, being an English language album doesn’t help, but neither does not being there to promote it. Interestingly, despite this poor showing, Lara still has the #1 top single of influence on the site “Top 20 singles of influence” (http://www.influencelesite.com/2017/11/top-20-singles-d-influence-semaine-du-23-10-17-au-29.10.2017.html). This is most likely the result of a relatively few passionate fans voting for her, or else people like the single but won’t buy a full English language album.
In other news, the New York Film Awards have been announced, and ‘Cello’ is one of the finalists for best short film (https://www.facebook.com/nyfilmawards/photos/a.1289092761216936.1073741828.1268065109986368/1365293843596827/?type=3&theater). Lara’s closing song “Remember Me” may be the most publicity she gets in New York! ‘Cello’ was also nominated for the “Best Humanist Vision” award at the 5th Vancouver Golden Panda International Film Festival (https://www.facebook.com/gpiff.official/?fref=mentions) (thanks to the Lara Fabian web site for the link).
Michel Sardou is continuing his farewell tour, and has just celebrated his 85th (!) concert at Forest National in Brussels (not surprisingly, this is a record).
The article about this (http://www.nostalgie.be/articles/video-souvenir-michel-sardou-chante-avec-lara-fabi.html) remembers the time in 1997 that he sung with Lara the song “Je vais t’aimer”; that video is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=6Yo1Y_uC4Sc
His album “Le choix du fou” is currently #1 in France. The last 20 years have shown quite a divergence in the ability of these two artists to appeal to the French record buying public.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: two from the show “Deux homes en or”, first from the photographer Robert Ferron, at
and then from the show itself,
Also of interest in the ‘photo’ department: Lara posted a picture on her Instagram site
with the caption, “"My" section at Amoeba Music, L.A... take a picture and post "my" sections in your local stores” . Tellingly, the album pictured is her first English one, not the latest; and one would suspect that if there is an actual location for Lara in any record stores across the U.S., that would be true in most of them.
Presumably that situation will not change much in the coming weeks, where we’ll probably see more of the same – continued media presence (only) in Quebec. It would appear it is making Lara happy, and in the best of all possible worlds, she will parlay it into greater exposure in North America. We’ll see…
