Lara’s Team announced this week that the “First single from Lara Fabian's upcoming album "Camouflage" to be released soon.. only a few weeks left....”. While Lara’s site didn’t include any visuals associated with that announcement, ‘Odacity’ did, using a photograph from several years ago of George Diomitrov, available at:
www.facebook.com/GeorgeDimitrovPhotography/photos/a.143546429116522.28910.141732359297929/372548829549613/?type=3&theater
It is entitled, “In shadows growing wings”. The significance of that for the new single is uncertain, although it may imply, as some have suggested, that the single will be called ‘Growing wings’. In any event, that is unlikely to be the ‘cover’ for the single (assuming it has a cover); you may remember that visuals have been included in previous announcements (e.g., the album’s name, the first dates of the album tour) that turned out to have no direct connection to what was actually going to be used. It’s perhaps more than likely that will be the case here as well.
The upcoming release suggested above is more or less consistent with the time-frame that people have reportedly been told at the pre-release listening sessions, and with what Lara said several months ago about a June single. The question that arises is, where is it going to be released? That is less of an issue in this day and age when one can just have it come out on iTunes, Spotify, etc., and if airplay is not the goal, then there doesn’t have to be a target country in mind. Otherwise it would appear to be a bit of a conundrum: would Lara release an English language single in France and Belgium, would she try to get airplay in the U.S. or Canada? We’ll see…
Given that the album is, in her words, ‘finished’, there is little more to be said about it until the first single arrives; that will provide the first indication of the musical direction the album will be taking. The few comments from those who have heard it indicate it will be a more ’modern sound’, and, as one person put it, “the next step in her musical evolution”. We’ll see about that, as well…
As far as the tour goes, there were no new entries added to the ‘Events’ page on Lara’s FB site, nor is there any further news on the venues for concerts in the already announced cities for which tickets are not yet being sold. Also, no new ‘pre-release listening sessions scheduled. There was an article concerning the tour, specifically for the Paris stop, in ‘Variety International’ (http://www.concertlive.fr/actualite/lara-fabian-reviendra-faire-vibrer-chant-zenith-paris-juin-2018-8588032); thanks to the Mademoiselle Zhivago site for the link. Here is the translation:

Lara Fabian will return to thrill the Zenith of Paris with her singing in June 2018
The performing vocalist is back on stage. At the Zénith in Paris, in June 2018. The places have just been sold. A tour announced as rich in scenic and visual effects intended to accompany a new English album named "Camouflage".
A Zenith for Lara Fabian. The celebrated ‘singer of voice’ is to return on stage with a date next year, June 16, 2018, which has just been announced. Lara Fabian will present on stage her "Camouflage", her first English album for more than a decade. "A Wonderful Life" was released in 2004 even though an album homage to English singers called "Every Woman in Me" saw the light of day in 2009. "Camouflage" will be released in the fall of 2017. And which will give its name to a tour, the "Camouflage World Tour", based on this English repertoire, with sophisticated visual production. A tour that will go through the Zenith of Paris, a room that the artist knows well in France, just like the Olympia elsewhere.
Born in Belgium, Lara Fabian spent her first five years at the foot of Etna volcano, in Catania, Italy. Then she returned to the outskirts of Brussels, in Ruisbroek. She met Rick Allison at the Crescendo, piano bar in Brussels in May 1990 and decided to leave with him at the age of twenty to Quebec.
It was in August 1991 that her first opus "Lara Fabian" was released in Canada. The ablum sells 100,000 copies, carried by the titles "Le jour où tu partiras" and "Qui pense à l’amour".
Her second album, "Carpe Diem" is an immediate success in Canada: in two weeks, the album becomes a gold record thanks to the singles "Tu t'en vas", "Si tu m'aimes" and "Leila". The following year, the album was certified triple platinum. She then began her first tour, "Sentiments acoustiques", to sold out houses. In January 1995, Serge Lama invited her to sing "Je suis malade" in Paris at the Palais des Congrès.
The artist is known for her multiple sellers such as "Tout" or "Je t'aime".
The artist is noted during the course of her career for her regular collaborations with the world of the cinema on original soundtracks. In 1996, the Walt Disney studios asked her to lend her voice to Esmeralda in the cartoon "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". That same year, she composed a song for the film "Daylight" with Sylvester Stallone. In all, she has released about fifteen studio albums as well as four "live" albums.
Soprano, Lara Fabian is renowned for her great vocal range performance of 2 octaves and 7 notes.
Her last album, in 2015, including "Quand je ne chante pas", was called "Ma vie dans la tienne".
The seats for this concert at the Zénith de Paris will be accessible doe between 40 and 70 euros.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If Lara did indeed write a song for the movie ‘Daylight’, and it was used in the film, it doesn’t seem to be credited in their database (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116040/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm), nor was it in the soundtrack (http://www.allmusic.com/album/daylight-original-soundtrack-mw0000080631).
In other news, Lara posted a link to a new video by Katy Perry, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um7pMggPnug&feature=youtu.be
with the comment, “I love Katy Perry” (plus appropriate emojis). ‘Charts in France’ also featured this clip (http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Katy-Perry/news-103728.html#utm_source=bubble&utm_medium=bubble&utm_campaign=Nouveau+clip+de+Katy+Perry), noting that it was ‘overtly political’, and that “"Chained to the Rhythm" is also a hymn to let go and freedom in an increasingly stifling society”. Katy Perry campaigned for Hillary Clinton in the last U.S. presidential election.
This entry on Lara’s FB site follows similar ‘call-outs’ to videos from Madonna and Miley Cyrus. Interesting that Lara is now highlighting English language singers, part of her own shift into that milieu, which may also be associated with her (recently) being in Los Angeles. In other ‘singer’ news, Natalia’s new album, including her duet with Lara on the song ‘Razorblade’ as a bonus track, was just released (https://www.facebook.com/Nataliamusicofficial/photos/a.698092840324736.1073741831.667197860080901/1058012857666064/?type=3&theater) [thanks to the MZ II FB site for the tip]. Natalia wrote, “My new album 'The Sound of Me' out now! Soon available on iTunes and Spotify!”. Surprisingly Lara did not have a ‘call-out’ to that on her site; perhaps it will be forthcoming.
The auction for Lara’s performing costumes has ended, and, presumably, the dinner with Lara in Brussels, the other auction for ‘Fondation Papillon’, took place last weekend. There have been no obvious comments about it, but one assumes it went as intended.
The ‘Lara Fabian artist’ site posted a short video of Lara singing recently at a private concert in St. Petersburg, Russia (portions of Je t’aime and I Will Love Again are shown); it can be seen at:

Lara certainly has been racking up those 'frequent flyer' miles...

Summer is normally a slow time for musical artists - in Europe especially, outside of big music festivals, -so we can’t have unrealistic expectations as to how much will be going on, but the release of the first single will provide impetus for the upcoming album. We should learn from it a lot about the sound to expect, and Lara’s manner of singing. During the next few months we may also expect more validated tour dates and venues, and perhaps additional info about the album’s tracklist. Until then, enjoy the last full week of spring, with the return of the sun in mind. Lara is, as she posted an Instagram picture with the caption “A little sun indoors”.
