Lara continues to be on the move, as evidenced this past week by her photo of herself, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1533051840069641/?type=3
along with the caption, “Visiting the Lone Star State ... at the Alamo .“
As many of you probably know, the Alamo is the location of a famous battle that helped cement the independence of Texas from Mexico, and its subsequent joining with the United States. It is an example of a defeat that led to ultimate victory (a moral which many people worried about recent political events might keep in mind ; however, the corollary is that that was not much compensation for those intimately involved, for whom it proved fatal!). A former mission, it was housing about 100 Texas soldiers, a few months after Texas had driven the Mexicans off their territory. Some 1500 Mexicans came to take back that territory, and instituted a siege that lasted close to two weeks. Although the Texans desperately pleaded for more men and supplies, only about another 100 people came. Eventually Mexico attacked and wiped out most of the Texans, then went on to chase after the Texas government. But the loss sparked a strong rush to join the Texas army – with a rallying call, ‘Remember the Alamo’ – from all over the United States, and it led to their ultimate victory. A number of ‘personalities’ have been memorialized from these events including Davie Crockett and Jim Bowie – but in fact, Bowie was the one responsible for it. He had been ordered to close the Alamo weeks earlier, but instead pushed to keep it open, even though it turned out to be indefensible. That’s another moral – many tragedies turn out to be have been avoidable if people had made sensible choices (which too would seem to be relevant, currently).
Lara’s visit there probably came as a surprise to just about everybody not connected with her, as the fans response indicated, since Lara has almost never reported her presence in the States outside of a particular concert venue. There was no specific indication of why she is there, but a number of sites carried a link to the following picture of Lara with Giora Linenberg (her pianist) from his FB page:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10211891955910784&set=a.3460792755047.2156650.1127782811&type=3&theater
along with his caption, “Doing America. Lara Fabian – in San Antonio, Texas.”
Now while they may be there on holiday together, it’s much more likely that it is work related. There are two obvious possibilities: (1) It’s associated with a private concert (people in Texas have a lot of money ) ; or (2)They are there, or at least on their way from there, to do some work on the new album. The money here is on the second (given past history and her Team’s point of view on this subject, it is much less likely that she would announce her presence for a private concert). We know that work has been going on at a studio in Los Angeles, perhaps associated with Odacity, for Lara posted a photo to that effect some months ago. There are also a number of top audio mixing and sound recording studios in Texas (Austin, Houston, Dallas – the Alamo is in San Antonio, not too far from Austin).
Meanwhile, all else seems to be in a holding pattern. It doesn’t appear as if the album will be ready for months, although we may be let in on the title in the foreseeable future. There are still no concert events listed on Lara’s site, or on any other of the general upcoming concert sites, and it may in some sense be waiting until there is more certainly about the album’s release date. The official URL is still listed as “being under construction”. We can’t even be sure of the record company behind the release, although ‘Odacity’ is the likely source. Some things can’t be rushed, and apparently Lara’s 2017 career is one of them.
In other news, Sébastien PrDh on the MZ (and MZII) FB site reported that the group ‘Steps’ has produced a cover of the song, “I Will Love Again”, available at:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x5jfgdm_steps-i-will-love-again_music
It’s a ‘turbo-charged’ version of Lara’s, although with the same essence. There has been at least one previous cover:
www.dailymotion.com/video/x59p90_kelly-llorenna-i-will-love-again_music
while Lara herself had numerous remixes, e.g.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvwcZK00zQs
but it’s somewhat surprising there haven’t been more. Even in French-speaking countries, that song did very well: In Belgium, it spent 14 weeks on the Ultratop Francophone best singles chart, reaching #5, and in France it was on the charts for 19 weeks, reaching #16. [And if Lara is looking for additional places to go, in New Zealand it was on the charts for 18 weeks, reaching #8].
BTW, even today, Lara’s first English album, featuring this song is almost always on an iTunes chart, position-wise, somewhere around the world. For example, today (literally) it is #39 in Uzbekistan, and #142 in the Netherlands. We don’t know if the new English album will have a song or songs of this nature – or even if that is their goal – but one cannot deny the power of a hit song to produce a long-lived album.

The ‘Lara Fabian & Emmanuel Moire: LE duo’ carried a wonderful (old) picture of Lara with another of her musical accompanists, Dorian Sherwood, who had a birthday recently (as did Giora Linenberg), available at

Perhaps we’ll find out soon what Lara was doing in Texas – probably so, since there would be little reason for her to publicize it without some follow-up. We may see her in another U.S. or Texas locale in the coming days, or given that she was in Sicily last week, perhaps someplace else in the world. Another thing that seems probable – seeing her, rather than hearing her, is what we will likely be doing for some time to come.
