The past week was a very quiet one professionally for Lara, over the Christmas holiday. Along with an appreciation for the holiday itself, there likely was some stress as well, associated with her parents’ illnesses. Lara’s Team left a cute Christmas greeting on their site, visible at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/pb.201065806601591.-2207520000.1482776657./1360425693998924/?type=3&theater
and fans and fan sites reciprocated with their own good wishes. Lara also left her own personal message recorded during the photo shoot for GAEL magazine, wishing fans the most beautiful Christmas, visible at:
www.gael.be/lifestyle/lara-fabian-vous-souhaite-un-joyeux-noel.html
On the day itself, Lara/Lara’s team provided a ‘Merry Christmas’ greeting in the following languages: French, English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, German, Dutch, Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Slovak, Arabic and Hebrew. All relevant for languages Lara speaks or places she has performed (or tried to) on her concert tour.
Lara’s FB site also suggested as a Christmas gift the book by her vocal coach ‘Pierre-Yves Duchesne, "PY3.12 La Methode", for those interested in the art of singing that Lara follows (and who read French).
Lara discussed what happens at her house during Christmas, (see www.gael.be/aucune-categorie/lara-fabian-les-fetes-du-tac-au-tac.html). Here’s a (translated) summary, prepared by the ‘Lara Fabian Connecting People’ site, from the various answers Lara supplied to questions:
-----------------------------------------
At midnight on Christmas Eve, already dressed in pajamas, Lara and her family unpack gifts (do not wait until the next morning); Lara admits that she prefers to give rather than receive gifts. It’s usually a bright holiday in the family, and with a Christmas tree in their home - always artificial. On the table are the famous traditional [homemade] dishes - among other things, foie gras and oysters. In addition, they traditionally remember with Lou at the end of the year to collect clothes and toys and carry them for those in need - in hospitals, churches, shelters, etc.

With the holiday in mind, there have been several links to the few Christmas songs Lara has done in the past. They include:

One can also mention (but probably shouldn’t) ‘Noel Ensemble’ in which Lara appears at ~2:07 - very briefly(!)

There may well be others; one can note Lara’s version of Joni Mitchell’s ‘River’, which, while a Christmas-time song, is not in the Christmas mood:

[Live version at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xur8mswEwAU]
Occasionally the question comes up as to whether Lara would ever do a Christmas album…It’s not been her ‘thing’ to be simply a vocalist, except for the discs where she honored the musical women important to her in her life. That being said, she does like Christmas, and given her growing audience around the world, it could have potential…
This morning Lara put a message on her FB site concerning a book she is reading, and hopes others will read as well. Here’s the translation:
-------------------------------------------------
Dear All,
In these festive times, laden with tradition, joy, but also of excess and solitude sometimes ...
I would like to share with you something that has made me feel good in the deepest sense of the word.
This is my reading of the moment, the book "EAT" written by Gilles Lartigot.
It deals with a primordial subject, VITAL: "The food".
To enter this book is to open up to another world of food, without categorization, without labels, free of popular beliefs and full of common sense.
This atypical warrior of light, writes a book that one can approach as a precious document to keep, to read and to re-read for this memory ...
Remember who we are, what we are becoming, but above all, what we could be, if we took the time to learn about our diet, and what happens behind the scenes of our plates.
Gilles and his wife Valerie, the other warrior of light, who is by his side, are two free and powerful electrons who truly live the silent change that is moving all over the planet.
This book informs us without indoctrinating us or putting us to sleep... and offers, through these precious lines, a weighed and documented wisdom.
For me there will be a before and an after "EAT"
One does not emerge unscathed from this reading. And so much the better.
The path is long and full of pitfalls, of course, but we are all able to "read", understand things and make our own choices.
We are all in a position if we wish to pursue a healthy life, stop complacency or victimizing ourselves.
What is certain is that we can not say that we did not know after "EAT".
We can not hide behind what has been hidden from us ...
Eat this book and its DVDs ... and open up to a world where to be healthy does not require belonging to an identified or identifiable group.
Eat this information and gently realize that getting away from disease is not impossible, but a concrete project, accessible to all.
EAT is not a current to which it is fashionable to belong, but a powerful source of well-founded information.
EAT is a free spirit that guides us towards resilience and invites us to be the actors of a new world, the one where our children will live.
Reading EAT and becoming an EATMEN is undressing our consciousness of what keeps it warm in the mausoleum of our beliefs, and step by step, incarnating the change that will save tomorrow.
Lara Fabian.

In other news, there were a few additional videos from the previous week’s concerts that came available:

The MZ FB site noted that on the site SNEP, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ is given an official Platinum designation, with more than 100,000 discs sold,

Charts in France still has it listed as 96,000 (estimated) in France alone [105,000 counting other countries], but that has probably been superseded, or SNEP is counting something C-I-F is not.
The ‘Lara Fabian Connecting People’ site provided a Russian translation of Lara’s interview in Ukraine (it was in the Ukrainian language) of the video presented last week (http://1plus1.ua/ru/svitske-zhittya/video/dzinsi-zamist-visukanoi-sukni-comu-lara-fabian-kardinalno-zminila-imidz). Here’s the English version of what they wrote:
--------------------------------------------
- Hello, Lara. Previously, you were a frequent guest in the Ukraine, but after 6 years you did not come to Kiev with concerts. Did you miss the Ukrainian audience?
LF: Yes, of course, and today I have repeatedly talked about it from the stage. I really missed Ukraine. I was dismayed to hear about the suffering and pain that the Ukrainians had to endure in recent years.
- During the time that we have not seen, you radically change your style. Instead of elegant dresses now you are acting in jeans.
LF: First of all, I changed my repertoire. The songs got more rock sound and I thought, what can I wear to feel comfortable on stage, jumping all night ...? So, I chose the shoes and jeans.
- What inspired you to change? Perhaps changes in your personal life? More recently, you were married. Congratulations!
LF: Thank you. Yes, there have been many changes, besides my daughter grows up. She listens to different music, she loves electronic music. And it is my greatest motivation to stay young, to be in good spirits and in good shape.
- Just a few weeks ago, your daughter Lou was 9 years old. How was it noted?
LF: We had a party in the Japanese style. Each year, Lu chooses the country in which the traditions of the festival will be held. This time it was Japan. All dressed in a kimono, guests were treated to sushi and different Japanese dishes. The holiday was a success.
- The next year Ukraine will host the Eurovision. It's hard to believe, but almost 30 years ago, you also took part in the competition, representing Luxembourg and took the 4th place. Victory then was won by Celine Dion, who represented Switzerland. Do you still watch the Eurovision Song Contest?
LF: Yes, I watch and I'm just delighted with Jamala. Her song was just amazing, the voice sneaks to tears, her image, movement - it was all very organic. I confess, at the wheel, I often listen to the song again and again by Jamala. She's just fantastic.
- There are rumors that you would like to sing a duet with her.
-LF: Why not? If Jamala wants to sing with me, perhaps at the opening of Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, I am happy
- Would you like to be a guest star on the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev? As Justin Timberlake at Eurovision in Stockholm?
LF: If it's an invitation, I accept it.
--------------------------------------------
We’ll see if a Eurovision invitation really happens!

celebrating the coming new year.
And in that vein, let me wish Lara, her family and team, and all of you a healthy and happy New Year. May 2017 exceed all of our expectations!
