Lara’s week took a turn in an unexpected direction (to us) as she was back in Belgium for several media appearances and other activities. RTL TVI had a special ‘I Like Belgium’ week (https://www.facebook.com/RTLTVI/photos/a.448021106684.243016.183245446684/10153704947146685/?type=3), and Lara featured in several ways. First she was on the show “De quoi je me mêle!” (With what I concern myself!) (recorded on 10/13) and can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsJfDtnIkV8
or
www.myrtl.be/rtltvi/replay/14-10-2016-de-quoi-je-me-mele-14-10-16
The show is described as, “Michael Miraglia and his band composed of columnists Roland Thibaut, Sophie Pendeville, Christian de Paepe, Sandy Heribert and Julien Lapraille, will greet you every day on RTL TVI to offer a true airlock decompression as an aperitif ! Program: news media, web zapping, live performance art or culinary challenges to the public, all in one."
The activities on this variety show were somewhat self-explanatory, including the cooking during it of one of Lara’s fish recipes, with the tasting at the end. The best part for Lara was when she had to play different personalities reading a script, starting at around the 14 minute mark. On the other hand, she was not very adept at video football (soccer), at around the 26 minute mark – no surprise, as she apparently has no interest in such activities, although she does admire the work the athletes put into the real sport.
There’s an additional short, (perhaps unintentionally) humorous bonus video of Lara’s meeting with Thibaut Roland, at:
www.facebook.com/dqjmm/videos/1612922129002477/
He asks Lara to help him in the proper performance of the songs. However, he misstates the lyrics of ‘J'y crois encore’; instead of "we are living as long as we are strong" he sings "we are alive, when we are dead". Lara says "it is impossible - to be alive, when you're dead" . After getting a ‘breathing lesson’ for his rendition of ‘Je t’aime’, for his last song he starts one from Celine Dion, thinking that it is one of Lara’s compositions - she has to gently correct him. This is probably not the first time that has happened .
A few pictures are available at:

Also as part of the ‘I Like Belgium’ media events, Lara was on the podcast ‘Club Music’ on Bel RTL, available at:
m.rtl.be/belrtl/video600018
(it may take a while to load)
It involved a mixture of discussions of Lara’s career and a variety of her songs, including some versions sung at Bel RTL, all in the context of Lara’s upcoming December 17th concert at Forest National, in Brussels. It also gave the host the opportunity to explore the international as well as Francophone perspective of a Belgian-born performer. One interesting aspect is it included Lara’s ‘duet’ with Ray Charles on the song ‘Ensemble’ (which can also be heard at www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw1h1D6lRBA). Other artists whom Lara would like to perform with are Peter Gabriel, Michael Buble and Seal. They also discussed (and played) her duet with Natalia and the odd situation of the split in cultures in Belgium. Of course, Lara’s mother’s condition came up, prior to the playing of ‘L’oubli’. And it gave Lara a chance to advertise Pierre-Yves Duchesne’s “Method” for singing.
An actual ‘I Like Belgium’ video of Lara is available at:
www.facebook.com/belrtl/videos/1322456067786474/
or
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DXs1gUaICA
In addition Lara recorded the program Face à Face, and a picture of her from the control booth can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/RTLTVI/photos/a.448021106684.243016.183245446684/10153704947146685/?type=3
TRL TVI accompanied the photo with the following statement:
“Hello, we have no date yet but the show is coming very soon! We will keep you informed.”
And there was another picture, at
www.facebook.com/RTLTVI/photos/a.448021106684.243016.183245446684/10153705016306685/?type=3
with the caption, “Crazy laughter between Lara Fabian and Sabrina Jacobs” #fafRTL”
Lara also went to see Zucchero perform, and provided a wonderful picture of the two of them, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1271538719554289/?type=3&theater
along with the caption, “Last night I went to see Zucchero!
Rarely have I seen a more talented, generous inspiring and true artist...
My family and I had one of the most extraordinary evenings of all times!
Zucchero is ‘Un Cuore immenso’
Grazie!!!!! Zucchero, sei magico”
You may remember the wonderful duet Lara did with Zucchero, on the song, “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometimes”, available on youtube at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=M807Ks9N3fs
Still concerning Belgium, but this time a future event, Lara posted the following (translated) statement on her FB site: “I'll have the pleasure of welcoming the beautiful and talented Anggun as guest at my concert in Forest National (Brussels) on 17 December… She then posted a link to a video about her, at www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUHuoNEb_ik&feature=youtu.be
This is shaping up as a big event, as Natalia is supposed to be there as well. It would be very good to record it… ; in fact, the ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ site opened up a thread where they encouraged fans to write in, trying to convince Lara or her team to do that very thing. As you can imagine, the fans were very strongly in favor of it, especially because the show is so good, it is of limited calendar duration (being superseded by the English album shows next year), and there was no DVD of the previous album (Le Secret) due to her health problems.
In the Bel RTL interview, Lara indicated that no recording was planned for a live CD; whether that means there will be no DVD is unclear, but it doesn’t sound promising. As one fan noted, there was a DVD of the concert in Prague, with her older songs, but will there be none of the new songs? Although not professionally done, there are a few complete video recordings of the shows: e.g., from the 'Palais des congress' in Paris of 6-3-16, available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMqcm7k1yLY]; and from Bucharest (4-22-16), at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-NFWaJUrVw.
Full concerts can also be put together from individual videos, for example from Cluj, Romania (4-20-16), see www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgFYdyYQOLGI7EmZSUMyHaOMAFO73TZqS . [Lara, of course, gets no remuneration from any of these…]. It is possible that these will have to do, which will not give full credit to Lara’s wonderful performances on this tour.
Earlier in the week, Lara also gave a shout-out for another of her upcoming concerts, this one in Odessa, with a picture
www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUHuoNEb_ik&feature=youtu.be
and the caption, ‘Odessa, in 4 days’. There was a time when Lara’s FB site underplayed her eastern European/Asian concerts, perhaps for fear of alienating her Francophone audience. But now Lara has seemed to fully embrace her international career/status, and that shows up on her FB site. Of course she is giving a French concert there, for the ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ album, so that may be an additional reason to emphasize it.
In other, more general news, t he MZ FB site posted a link to the following article, translated below:

Certifications finally performed on actual sales records
rss
Phew, it was time. According to SNEP, certifications (gold record, platinum, or diamond) will now be based on streaming and real sales (downloads for singles, downloads and / or physical sales for albums), and not on implementations in stores - thus demonstrating a real public success. The certifications will now be a fair reflection of the success of titles and albums awarded from the detailed sales, recorded and published by GFK each week. Record companies will therefore no longer have extra tricks to certify their artists thanks to their places on the shelves of established stores. For how many albums yet certified remained glued to the bins?
In 2015, SNEP has certified 107 albums, 10 videos and 37 singles, 40 artists produced in France in the Top 50 Bestsellers 2015 albums, 37 of which are singing in French. The gold discs (50,000 albums sold), platinum (100,000 copies sold) and diamond (500,000 albums sold) certified during the past year will illustrate these performances, and one will be able to observe that the talents of the younger generation will be affirmed brilliantly alongside established artists. Masterstrokes for first 8 albums: diamond, with over 800 000 copies sold of "Chambre 12", LOUANE wins the highest award for this first album, best selling of 2015. Full marks for Kendji GIRAC who gets a Double diamond certification for his first album "Ensemble" and diamond for the second, eponymous.
------------------------------------------------
So as the article states, to ‘earn’ the appropriate commendations, albums will have to actually be sold, rather than just shipped – hard to argue with that .

This will be followed by a performance tomorrow in Chisinau, Moldova, and so, similarly, Lara posted a picture of that location,

with the caption (written in Romanian), “Who comes to see me tomorrow in Chisinau?”
A trip short in duration (though long in miles), unless Lara has other, non-public events planned for this time period. As implied by these and the other events in this Update, work on the English album would appear to be quite fragmented, although Lara does have a couple of weeks off after these two concerts before the French segments begin again. Also, we may be at the time limit of what is possible, but she and her team should seriously consider the possibility of (video) recording her show at Forest National, in Brussels, in December. It (and this tour) would seem to be very well worth preserving.
