I really have overlooked this great cd for some time. I think it's because my good friend John gave it to me along with all of her other cds and a bunch of dvds at the same time. I got hooked on Pure, Nue, her English debut, and A Wonderful Life, and then enjoyed her concert material so much that I never really took the time to experience Carpe Diem. Well, after John just bought me an original of her Live '98 cd, I began listening to it over and over. Wanting to hear the studio versions of some of the songs from that great cd, I put in Carpe Diem. WOW! This is a real treasure! The album has a lot of passion and energy. I love it, and I was just wondering what others thought of it, too.

I find it's a great album. It has some really special songs on it. I actually got this album before Pure (at the same time as Nue) and have often overlooked it, but I find some of the songs on this album really showed her growth (like Tu T'en Vas, Pas Sans Toi, and Si Tu M'Aimes). I remember Lara in an interview after A Wonderful Life that the second English album is different than the first because you are more comfortable and know more what you want to do and know how to achieve it and I think the same went for her Carpe Diem. She did an album that represented her more. It involved more of her songwriting, and her way of expressing her emotions through her music was better done. I think with this album she had more confidence and it shows. I think this album was more of an introduction to Lara, the singer and the artist while her debut was an introduction to Lara's voice. I agree, Mark, this album is a real treasure.
