A busy week for Lara, even though most of the activity occurred after the break in her concert schedule began.
Lara's final show in October took place in Lille this past week, following the format that appears set in stone for the current concerts (dictated in its precision by the computer-driven holograms). Pictures are available at:
www.larafabian.com/forumLara/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9642&sid=bd011ddc7af3491f75f80991881f7201&start=120
It was well-received, both by the fans, and the local press, e.g., the review in 'Nord-Eclair, available at:
www.nordeclair.fr/Actualite/2009/10/22/hier-la-voix-de-lara-a-plu.shtml
The review notes that the show takes no risks, but everything works properly, and the fans seemed to be quite happy. It will be interesting to see whether Lara has learned anything from these first dates, and whether when the shows resume in a month's time anything has changed.
Lara also continued her public appearances, with an interview on Europe 1 several days ago (the audio of it is available on NABBOX). Lara cast further cold water on the possibility of her part in Victor Victoria actually occurring. She indicated that it is still a possible project - although still in the 'project' stage - but that since she wants to focus on her upcoming album 'Le Secret' she really doesn't have time for it this coming year, and in fact it may never happen. The interview also covered her singing relationship with Johnny Hallyday, who is quite effusive in his praise for her, and also the closeness of Lara to her fans. Some pictures from the event are available on the official site, at:

Then on the 23rd, Lara was in Chambéry in a 'France Bleu' event, "aux talents de France bleu" along with other artists. The continued promotion of TLFM found her singing 'Soleil soleil' and "TLFM". In the interview, Lara indicated she was surprised by the reaction of the audience to the 'dessins animes' medley, and that the new album 'Le Secret' is almost finished. She received (for the third time!) a gold disc for sales of TLFM [apparently it is not a one-time event, as it always makes for a good show ☺]. Videos and the audio of the event are available on youtube and NABBOX.
Yesterday, Lara was present for the taping of "Les enfants de tele". From the Christmas décor, the impression was that it will be shown in December. She also recorded "L'ecoles des fans" where she sang TLFM. A video of Lara arriving at this show is available at:
www.4shared.com/file/144049554/47c28547/vido_nath.html
Date of airing was not mentioned.
TLFM has dropped another 17 places and is now 87th in France. It's very possible that it will fall out of the top 100 by the time Lara's French concert tour resumes in about a month. Nevertheless, it was stated yesterday on the stage of "les enfants de la télé" that TLFM has gone platinum (which in France since June 2009 means sales of more than 100,000 discs). Considering also sales in Belgium and Russia, as well as downloads, Lara's statement of 150,000 copies sold so far seems possible.
Lara was also present for an interview that appeared in the Belgian version of Paris Match. It took place jointly with her friend 'Arthur' (apparently a comedian/social commentator), and thus was probably conducted at the CAP48 charity event where both were present. Lara seems to enjoy his humor and candor; he was also present at "les enfants de la télé. His videos are available on 'dailymotion'.
And continuing with the charity theme- as noted by Ocelot in last week's 'News Update', Lara is apparently adding her voice to an album called "Message", to be released at the end of January, with proceeds going towards AIDS research. In particular she will be involved in a single from the album called 'If', to be released on December 1, the World Day for the fight against AIDS. It will be broadcast on nrj radio. [There has been some ambiguity about this - Lara doesn't appear in the video promoting it, nor is she listed on the internet site for the project, but other reports include her name in the list of participating artists.]
According to larafabianweb.com, Lara will be one of the contributors to the new album for children by Thierry Gali "il était une fois" ("Once upon a time"), due to be released on November 30th. In an extract available on that site, Lara is reading the story of 'Snow White'.
No news yet on the availability for sale of EWIM on the web. It's (barely) understandable that it is taking some time for the boutique on the official site to open; but it is also supposed to be sold on larafabianweb.com, and that hasn't happened either. (Requests sent to Laetitia on that site have not been answered.) Perhaps they don't have very many copies available (although that's a little hard to believe); more likely it is the normal disfunctionality of Lara's entourage. It's been pointed out by fans - on her official site - that sales of EWIM are now ubiquitous on ebay and it is also quite available on 'unofficial' (i.e., illegal) downloading sites. The sales on ebay are actually being advertised; see for example:
www.oikotimes.com/v2/index.php?file=articles&id=6584
that almost makes it sound like Lara is the one doing it (although that's unlikely). There are numerous comments on the official site about how this is just one more example of how unprofessional things are (e.g., they haven't even updated the official discography to include TLFM, let alone EWIM)…but these are likely to have little effect, since nobody with any power ever seems to read them.
They do, however, interact when they want to. Nathalie indicated today on the official site that preparations for the next Farfallina are well underway, and Lara wants to answer questions from fans. If you want to send in a question, here are the rules:
1) Be a member of the fan club
2) Create an interview structured from 10 to 15 questions
3) Send your interview to mesanges@larafabian.com
4) Accompany your interview questions with a maximum of 3 photos of yourself alone, or of you with Lara
5) Provide your first and last name, and your membership number.
All of this must be done by November 30th (which suggests that the next Farfallina will probably not be available until the beginning of next year).
It's been noted that the lara-fabian.fr site has a new notice on it, saying that it is currently closed but people should return to it later. That has led fans to speculate that it might become the focal point for the new album (Le Secret), just as the current site was established in conjunction with TLFM (and of course the lara-fabian.fr actually opened in conjunction with the release of Neuf). It's a bizarre concept to change websites every time there is a new album, but that doesn't make it improbable in Lara's case ☺. It would suggest a conceptual return to an all-French audience.
You may remember several weeks ago there was a contest for 'the most elegant woman in Belgium'. Lara was one of the 100 choices available. According to Dorofanlara on the official site, Lara ended up finishing 7th, a very good showing!
Some nice photos of the meeting of Lara with her fans at the private concert that took place last month are available at:

The upcoming week may well find Lara back home in Brussels, as she suggested in a previous interview. No public appearances are scheduled, although given what occurred this past week, we shouldn't be surprised.

ps- great new design for this website!
