I cannot describe how great this song is. I love how fragile Lara starts and by the end of Triumphant she is. This is truly a song of conquering life and accepting what life has given you.

Wow! I really like your commentary on this song. Everyone I share "A Wonderful Life" with always mention this one as among their favorites on the album. When I first put this album in, I must have played the first three songs about a half dozen times before moving on! It was the first time I had ever heard Lara sing, so you can understand how awestruck I was on "I Am".

I wasn't feeling "I Am". Even after having the CD for quite some time, I still can't get into the song. However, anything that showcases Lara's voice, I am very appreciative of.

This song is a song I really turn to when I'm really struggling with things in my life. It just has so much that speaks to the heart of me. I think sometimes I get caught up in the pain and the circumstances of my life and this song really helps me keep it all in perspective.
"All that I am is what I was and who I'll be Here where I stand is all I have and what you see Take these empty hands this is all I am."
Those lines in the chorus just show it's not able what has happened, what you have, or what's in the past. What matters is in the now and who you are in the now. I just need to be reminded of that every once in a while.

What those words mean to me is that as a person she is living her life to her full potential and giving her all. Life is a journey, and who you were in the past and who you will be in the future is all part of the makeup of the total you just as much as who you are in the present. But if you wasted time in the past, you can't get it back. If you are wasting it now, you may not ever be all you can be in the future. So, past , present and future all weave together to make the total package of who you are. It seems to me that Lara is saying here that she has, is and plans to continue to seize the moments that make up a life, and therefore she's right "on time" in the journey of her life. She seems to be stating that with that in mind, nothing more or less can be expected of her. I am probably way way off here! Correct my twisted mind, if you are up for the challenge! lol

I think you're right. I also think that she's saying that it's not material things that make you who you are but the heart and soul ("Take these empty hands this is all I am").
