Hilton Quits Billboard Awards Over Jokes~ The Associated Press LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton won't joke about her peeps. The hotel heiress canceled an appearance at next week's Billboard Music Awards because she didn't like the jokes written for her, according to a spokesman. "It is my understanding that some satirical references ridiculed some of her peers," her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said in a statement. "Paris did not want to say anything that could appear hurtful or embarassing about people she knows." Mintz said Hilton received a script Friday that contained material she found "objectionable." Representatives for Hilton and the awards show could not come to an agreement about the script's content so she decided to scrap the appearance, he said. A call to Billboard was not returned early Saturday. The Billboard Awards will be handed out Monday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show is scheduled to air live on Fox.

I certainly do not want to criticize Paris on this decision because I believe she is right for doing this. I compliment her for standing up for her friends and for doing what is right.
I only wish she loved her friends enough to advise them better in other areas, and to show them a better example with her lifestyle!

Who and what does Paris Hilton even do? Does she sing, act or dance? Or is it her parents money that keeps her in the spotlight? I just want to know. I have never seen her perform. I only see her in the news.

I'm along the same lines as Paula. I just don't understand why she's in the news.

I'm not a fan of Paris Hilton, so I am unsure of all the facts here and could possibly be way off, but I think she became wealthy through her parents' hotel business. She became a celebrity and famous though, through the release of a sex video distributed on the internet by her ex. Again, I could be wrong about the facts in this.
The reason for my post of this is that it is interesting to me the decline in our cultural value system. Here a woman becomes a celebrity through sex distribution, and prances around getting pictures taken of her and constant media attention without any apparant talent whatsoever. All of a sudden she takes a moral high ground by quitting a show because she doesn't like the script making fun of her celebrity friends. But if she was a real friend to these people, wouldn't she take them by the arm and lovingly advise them against the ways they are going? I'm particularly speaking here of Paris' newfound friendship with Britney Spears, who recently became all the rage over photos taken of her getting out of a car with her crotch showing.
Again, I want to make it clear that I do not want to criticize Paris on her decision to quit the Billboard Award Show for sticking up for what is right and standing by her friends. But I also think that she can go a lot further in her friendship......what say you?
